  1. For FileKey1 there can't be RECURSE and REMOVESELF used together, at least not to my knowledge since I've never once seen them used together like that. If it's to actually remove the directory just leave REMOVESELF. I don't use that program so I can't test it, maybe this? FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Zoner\ZPS *\Cache|*.*|REMOVESELF or this, if the folder must remain - because sometimes removing a required folder breaks a program: FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Zoner\ZPS *\Cache|*.*|RECURSE
  2. I meant reinstall ZAM (install it again), this is because when you originally uninstalled it the uninstall wasn't complete or had some failure. After reinstalling ZAM follow the instructions in post #2 as it they may provide a solution to more fully removing it.
  3. No fix yet as it was only reported the other day. Until Piriform comes out with a fix it's recommended that nobody uses CCleaner to remove the Windows.old folder. If you must remove Windows.old instead only use the built into Windows tool Disk Cleanup to do it which supposedly doesn't damage the OS.
  4. They were supposed to fix it, however Firefox also released a new version recently. So maybe they'll be chasing and playing keep up with that just like Win10 with ever changing software.
  5. You said lightweight which was one of the reasons I originally chose it over an office suite. It's a shame I can't get a dictionary to work it in, however I also use the very lightweight tinySpell Free (a program rridgely recommended a long time ago on here that I still update and use) to make corrections in it On my 32-bit OS it's using in: Program Files = 16.6 MB AppData = 9.41 KB RAM (idle, with no document open) = 13 MB (approx) RAM (with a very small RTF document open) = 20 MB (approx)
  6. I forgot, older Win9x/Me systems and the last CCleaner version that worked on them may not have had support for winapp2.ini. --------------- winapp1.ini is embedded inside CCleaner.exe. You can export it with this command line (note it will export all the .INI files, look in the CCleaner folder for them after exporting): ccleaner.exe /export
  7. 1. Reinstall ZAM - if it will let you, since you seem to have only partially uninstalled it. 2. After it's installed exit out of it so it's not running, including turning off real-time protection. 3. Uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller Free. Note: "Completely" removing an anti-malware, or anti-virus is unlikely as there will usually be leftovers in the ControlSet areas of the registry that all of them always leave behind. You may want to look on their website for a removal/uninstall tool if they have one.
  8. Thing is with data breaches that expose customer data, such as from a PC manufacturer can give hackers a long list to sell off to scammers, then they have your name, address, phone number, email, and even the PC model you own.
  9. See if you have it configured to automatically close: 1. Open CCleaner. 2. Go into: Options > Advanced 3. Untick/disable: Close program after cleaning If that wasn't the issue: 1. Right-click your CCleaner shortcut/icon. 2. Make sure it doesn't have this parameter in it, which will cause it to automatically close: /AUTO
  10. Easier to just give the URL, it's not a secret. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
  11. AbiWord. The Windows version is older due to a lack of developers for it. I dumped Microsoft Word and switched to AbiWord (the installed version, not the portable because I wanted it registered with file types) maybe three years ago, all because Word kept stealing file associations I didn't want it registered to handle and the only way I found to remedy the problem was to uninstall it. You'll of course need to download a dictionary for it if you want one, I have but I've never been able to get any of them to work correctly with it AbiWord Installer: https://www.abisource.com AbiWord Portable: https://portableapps.com/apps/office/abiword_portable To understand AbiWord better take the online tour: https://www.abisource.com/tour
  12. Can't the requested remove entries for old OSes like Win9x/Me, or whatever be instead taken out of the main winapp2.ini file and put into an legacy one for Win9x/Me systems.
  13. So they supported XP longer than Vista.
  14. It does, and probably was a scam. The Event Log Viewer is one of their tricks to swindle you out of money. You should never let anyone remotely into your computer for support unless it's directly from the PC manufacturer - but even then it would be very rare for them to even suggest to allow it.
  15. It's better to post the actual VirusTotal link with the scanning results for validity, instead of posting a screenshot of it.
  16. No quotes needed. Read-only won't protect from what I mentioned before, although it's a good practice to make the HOSTS file read-only.
  17. Also if it was some malware that Malwarebytes cleaned up automatically via real-time protection that event should be in the archived logs - that is if you don't have cleaning software such as CCleaner clean the logs.
  18. I'm in the mindset now to not even want to look at the drive/defrag map in any defrag software, since it's kind of pointless because they're going to do what they want to do based on their algorithms. As for the empty block showing, what I've noticed is one defrag tool can show an empty block, while another shows the block as containing data.
  19. It's been around for a long time. Although they have so much archived you can find yourself getting on that site for weeks or longer.
  20. Read-only doesn't stop malware from modifying it, or dubious websites that have a script to empty your HOSTS file so that their advertising isn't blocked.
  21. The text is rather small and bifocal glasses would be required. However everything on your screen in that screenshot would have me pulling out some binoculars. You can try these instructions to see if they work on your Win7 system (it's already been confirmed to not work on WinXP): http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/ccleaner-how-tos/how-to-increase-the-size-of-fonts-ccleaner-uses
  22. In HostsXpert you have to disable the HOSTS files read-only attribute first: 1. In the "File Handling" tab click Make Writable? - it's in red bold text at the very top. 2. Click "Download" then click MVPs Hosts... - it will now download and replace the old version if there's an update. 3. Rather there's an update or not, when done go back into "File Handling", and click Make ReadOnly? - it's in black bold text at the very top. Edit: For people on older systems like WinXP after installing or changing the HOSTS file you need to log off, and then log on for the changes to properly take effect - or restart the computer.
  23. On WinXP defrag software doesn't cause disappearing hard disk space from my knowledge - even with System Restore turned on. I've used various free and commercial defraggers and not one of them caused any disappearing space.

    Secondary HDD

If CCleaner allowed it and it doesn't everything on the drive that could be deleted (except for locked files such as System Volume Information) would be deleted. Some cleaning tools don't offer that protection!
