  1. It's an option if you right click on the taskbar in 8.1. I still haven't upgraded myself, but I like Windows 8 as is anyway. Waiting for the various incompatibilities (firefox namely) to be sorted before I go to 8.1
  2. Are you logged into your Google account within Chrome? http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=40285
  3. This was sent to me today [iTunes Temporary Files*] LangSecRef=3023 Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\iTunes Default=False FileKey1=%CommonAppData%\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Temporary Files|*.* not going to include it since there are dmg files and other such things, I don't use itunes but if someone else would like to test it ... http://forum.piriform.com/uploads/monthly_02_2014/msg-10817-0-40109600-1393335698.jpg
  4. Actually I just resumed updating every 2 weeks in january after a long break from it. Update is in the works now (late classes ). I'm going to leave the torch entries in for now, in case it's not fully supported
  5. Agree with the adblocker, filehippo is completely clean for me with ABP installed. Always has been
  6. I didn't know that either, but I can't find anything that supports that anywhere. not that I don't believe hazel
  7. Do you have one of the neat ones with the hot swappable hard drives?
  8. I suppose that'll do it, glad you got it sorted out.
  9. OT: I've tried cracking the BIOS password on a toughbook (panasonic) before. Turns out they have an additional daughterboard soldered in and you cannot bypass this unless you desolder the board. That being said they still run windows, so security outside of the physical device may be lax
  10. Seems it actually is possible, though I'm not sure that the entry is bad, since Adwcleaner is more of a one-run-and-done utility, designed to remove everything it finds.
  11. The entries with FileKey1/2=FileKey1 are mistakes, I used a find/replace script and I botched it a few times I guess. You can delete the first FileKey1= from each. Some of the entries, namely ChatZilla, Stylish, Flashblock, and AdBlock are entries for addons, if you don't use the relevant addons, the entry doesn't do anything. Some of the sqlites have actually been replaced in the main firefox build, and may not get created depending on what version of firefox you are using. Same goes for various log files, the either take time or require a specific build, I'm not sure. I use the Firefox Nightly build as my daily driver, so I likely have some outputs that are not created by the stable branch. The best thing to do is use firefox for a while and see if the rest of the missing files are created, if you really want to find them and suspect they're not in the paths I've used, I suggest downloading Everything by Void Tools, running firefox for a day or two, then searching for the missing files, as this should reveal where they're located (assuming they are created during that time)
  12. adwcleaner doesn't have that functionality, and as far as i know doesn't allow you to restore from the quarantine
  13. Tried whatsapp, decided I didn't need yet another application for messaging. Many suspect facebook's purchase is motivated by the recent purchase of Viber
  14. Copy it to the desktop first, so you have a backup. Make sure firefox is closed while you delete it.
  15. Do you have multiple builds of firefox installed? I've seen this behavior with multiple builds of Chrome installed. Also, do you have an extensions.json file in your profile folder? It's located in %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\(profile identifier just click through)\ If you do, is there also an extensions.sqlite? If so, try deleting extensions.sqlite
  16. the * indicates a wildcard, because Firefox's profile folders by default are randomly generated. It's not needed for your setup. Based on the information you've provided, I think this set of entries should work for your setup. 17. It's brillaint really. 1) Let megacorporation form despite constituent opposition, due to successful lobbying by Comcast ($$) 2) Come the year before reelection, pass harsh legislation that breaks the parent company into smaller regional carriers 3) Campaign as the villaint defender of consumer choice, get reelected
  18. there may be a problem with your JSON file that holds information about addons and extensions.
  19. Does your \data\ folder operate as both the %localappdata% and %appdata% folders that a normal install would entail? You are correct in that winapp2.ini must be edited to support your custom paths, which is easily done, but only if you point it towards the right path!
  20. I'd 'like' your post, were it not for the fact I've reached my daily quota of positive votes for the day!
  21. I don't think they do, so a mega-monopoly should be interesting.
  22. Call me a daredevil but I no longer run an antivirus or antimalware.
  23. $70/mo for 1000/1000 uncapped, $120/mo for 1000/1000 uncapped + TV service I can't complain much about my internet (other than it's not fast enough for my browsing habits) because Cablevision is actually a good ISP, compared to TWC, Comcast, et al. Should be interesting to see what happens with the TWC/Comcast merger.
  24. Firefox gets updated every 6 weeks, Chrome as well if I'm not mistaken. CCleaner only gets updated every 4 weeks. Are you suggesting that CCleaner be only compatibile with the most recently released version of a browser, on the off chance the vendor changes something in a game-breaking way?
