  1. Thank you for responding back to our posting. We will work on your directions the next couple of days and report back. We will also download the tool you suggest as well. Again we thank you.
  2. Alan_B. A thank you is in order for providing us some background information on the firefox system. We should notate that we are using the portable firefox from portableapps. At some point we would be interested in learning more about your setup you briefly mentioned. As for the portability factor of the applications, We were under the impression that once you remove the usb or portable from the system it would remove all of the related information so it could be used at another local. We do understand how a delay or malfunction could possibly not allow this to work properly. We gather, this could be said about any technology. We will take some time shortly and look into your recommendation of the alternative browser. We would also be interested in learning more about your setup, which is also extended to Winapp2 and DvdBane, if they would be willing to share with us. Feel free to message me. Thank you.
  3. Dvdbane: We must thank you for helping us. We are beginning to understand the very basics and can start to see what you are pointing out in your posting. Examples are always a great way to visualize what it should look like. This way we can compare our work paths. It would be beneficial if there was a tutorial on the portable version to work with, especially for first timers. Trial and Error is good. It certainly is a learning experience. We just wish we had a background to understand some of the concepts etc. We will once again, review your notation and see if we can get ours to work well. Again. Thank You.
  4. Hello Winapp2: We must first take this time to thank you and the other posters for writing the custom files for us. It was a great surprise to login and see the items listed. We spent some time working through your collective hard work and we made notations in each of the many files listed below for your review. We should note that this is out first go-around and we are working towards success with this. If you would so kindly review our notes it would be greatly appreciated. We understand that this is an ongoing project and not something that we could complete in one try. We also understand if you are not able to respond back to us in a timely manner. Again, our appreciation. If you should find any detail incorrect, please do not hesitate to point it out. Thank You. 5. Winapp2.ini. Thank you for taking the time to help us and answer our questions. We should mention that we were working on paths to see if we could properly create at least a couple, we posted one at the towards the bottom of our response to you called [************Bookmark Backups*]. We searched around and we may need a quick tutorial on some of the terms. But here we go. What's the difference between %localappdata% and %appdata%? This is our first attempt. To try to answer your question, the portable firefox was installed on the desktop of a user account "INT" in Windows XP. No editing of the location has been made. Therefore we could say that the portable firefox was installed as default on the desktop. Through some searching we found the following... we did notice under "C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Application Data\Mozilla" we have 3 main folders with some sub folders - (sorry for the way it displays.) C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Application Data\Mozilla\Extensions C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox " " \Firefox\Crash Reports " " \Firefox\Crash Reports-BackupByFirefoxPortable C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Application Data\Mozilla\Extensions-BackupByFirefoxPortable We were surprised to see this since we were under the impression that portable applications are contained in one location. However we may be wrong. I guess we need some clarification or a suggested link or two to read up on this. Suggestions? Here are more folders found...they seem to be the "main" source. C:\Program Files\FirefoxPortable (nothing inside this folder) C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data (no firefox of any kind in this folder) All of the the following folders have additional subfolders (which you probably know about.) C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Desktop\FirefoxPortable C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Desktop\FirefoxPortable\App C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Desktop\FirefoxPortable\Data C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Desktop\FirefoxPortable\Other C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Desktop\FirefoxPortable > FirefoxPortable.ini C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Desktop\FirefoxPortable > FirefoxPortable.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\firefox (no files seem to be in the above folder) =============================================================== Here is an example of a path we create by reviewing your original winapp2. Ours seems to work, but please let us know if it is accurate or if we are missing something. We also posted the original from the winapp2 file. Original Winapp2 [bookmark Backups*] LangSecRef=3026 SpecialDetect=DET_MOZILLA Default=False FileKey1=%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*\bookmarkbackups|*.json OURS [************Bookmark Backups*] LangSecRef=3026 SpecialDetect=DET_MOZILLA Default=False FileKey1=%userprofile%\Desktop\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile\bookmarkbackups|*.json - On yours, in the FileKey1 what does the \*\ mean right before the bookmarkbackups. We tried to replicate that but it did not work for our custom path? When we were creating the custom path we also tried it with and without the |*.json - it seemed to work either way. Do we need this added? and what does it define? Here is the log. We thank you for your assistance. Again, thank you. Hello Alan, Thank you for responding to our posting. We will begin with a fresh install as you noted and begin working with the program without the add-ons until we create the correct paths etc. We should ask you, what is the best way to uninstall your items to begin fresh. We would not want to have any conflicts. Thank you for taking the time to work with us and answer our questions. We appreciate this. Dvdbane. Thank you for posting an example for us to review. In the Filekey1 and Filekey2 what does the * mean after the Profiles\? We tried your FileKey2 and we were able to see it listed, however we guess we do not have the adblock installed so it did not show anything to remove. (Approximate size) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We did edit the FileKey2 somewhat and created another path and we were able to see the following for our created ****EXAMPLE****. This is all under one item, not separated. I do not think the way we did this is the correct way, since we can see many items missing, that should be listed. However, we are working on trying to go one by one and adding, which may take some time. This way would remove a lot of items at one time, and provide no separation. We would also like to ask about the your listing of items in the brackets that do not have any direction listed below them. Were those items that you do not have installed or do not want ccleaner to remove? We have more questions, but shall wait until we hear back. Thank you again. Our example... 6. Hello, We are running the portable version of CCleaner v4.10.4570. We have also downloaded WINAPP2.INI and the downloaded TRIM.BAT setup which seems to be working for most of the programs (for one CCleaner install - more on that later). After a considerable amount of research and trial and error, we are unable to properly setup the CCleaner for the portable edition of Mozilla Firefox 27.00 which at present time is installed in a desktop folder on a Windows XP system. Please note, this is clearly OUR ERROR (user error.) We do not have the know how to complete this task. We would appreciate if you could help us. Thank You. Some things we know at present time: Trial and Error. We have TWO SEPERATE copies of the PORTABLE CCleaner installed - each one is in a different directory. We are sure not to mix them up. We have the two instances installed for trial and error purposes only and will uninstall one once we have the proper setup (with your help of course.) We did this to have a default version to refer back to if needed. One instance of the portable CCleaner installed on the XP system was created by following the directions in the "How to clean user data from non-standard Mozilla browsers" link - http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/advanced-usage/ccleaner-ini-files/how-to-clean-user-data-from-non-standard-mozilla-browsers. With the use of of default CCleaner.ini we were able to see SOME items included under Mozilla Firefox, BUT not many as compared to the WINAPP2.ini file install (which we will refer to later on in this posting.) Clearly, we are having difficulty with creating the proper paths. Maybe we need additional paths created? BELOW IS OUR CUSTOM FILE FOR PORTABLE MOZILLA FIREFOX pasted in the CCleaner.ini using the above link for direction. Below is part of our custom file, created by the following text. "CustomLocation1=FIREFOX|C:\Documents and Settings\Int\Desktop\FirefoxPortable\Data" Which displays the following when CCleaner launches. FIREFOX <<<<(heading) Internet Cache Internet History Cookies Download History Session Site Preferences Saved Form Information Saved Passwords Compact Database **Please note, we noticed that none of them have a "*" as the list was only created and pasted into the ccleaner.ini and not created by the Winapp2.ini. As per the above link directions. We then followed the directions on the Winapp2.com site for the Winapp2 "install." At that time, because we did not create the correct file paths, CCleaner did not see ANY Mozilla Firefox - NONE. Back to the drawing board. We were clearly unsuccessful in figuring out the correct paths going that route. Trying to move forward and knowing that we did not need all 2k listed program items listed to run (and to save time) we decided to look into the use of the trim.bat. We read through the basic directions on the Winapp2 website and the additional trim.bat directions .txt file which has more detailed information. Not sure which one is the more "current" directions? We tried both. The basic steps allowed us to see a laundry list of Mozilla Firefox items listed, however some type of error occurred while running the .bat file and we were unable to complete the install. At present time one of the CCleaner installs has the #TRIMMER folder still visible and installed with many folders insider???? However, we are CURRENTLY able to see the entire list of Mozilla-based items listed on CCleaner, Which we pasted below for your review. But even with them checked off, none clean mozilla firefox. All of them come back with 0 bytes cleaned. So this is why we are posting here for your help. We understand because the directories and paths in the prepared WINAPP2.ini points to different locations other than where we currently have the program installed we need to edit them. Please note the laundry list of items listed for Mozilla Firefox.****Something we are trying to replicate as compated to the above listing from the CCleaner.ini file. Does the below mean more detailed cleaning? *(Pay no attention to the true-false - We just copied the files from our log at that time.)* Below is part of our custom file, created by the following text.
