  1. Your welcome! This gave me a chance to explore some possiblities when combining WSH and CC.
  2. Ok here is a scipt. In the ZIP file you'll find: JGSoft.vbs and WinApp2.ini. The ini file is for reference. Dont overwrite your existing one. Just copy and paste the non-commented section. Here is the script and ini entry... Script. Place JGSoft.vbs from the ZIP into the same folder as CCleaner.exe Deleted by Disk4mat Deleted by Disk4mat
  3. Its only a matter of time before this thread gets locked. Installing the service pack for Office wont affect Windows. It only updates Office. If you are using a less than legitimate version, you may be out of luck.
  4. No need to reinstall windows. Only Office. I was researching if you could repair the current install of Offcie using the MSOCache. Have you tried going to the Control Panel > Add remove programs > Select Microsoft Office 2003 and click the change button. Then in the uninstall dialog that pops up, there is a button to 'Repair' your installation. The problem I suspect is that you'll be prompted to insert a CD. But on the chance your cache is intact, it just might work. Installing the latest Office 2003 service pack may be another option. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en
  5. Where did you get Office 2003? You have a CD for 2000. Any copy of OPA11.BAK from another computer wont work since its not going to match the installation id.

Office version and OS? Aside from cleaning Office are you cleaning Prefetch files?
  7. OPA11.BAK is a backup copy of OPA11.DAT which stores Activation information. Have a look at this page. You may be able to recover your file(s) and get Word back up and running. (Scroll down to method 2) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275 I noticed on that page it says, "Important Do not delete the opa11.bak file." But hopefully the method to re-activate will solve the problem.
  8. The SP replaced the individual KB updates. As a precautuion you can opt to backup the registry items. Make sure under Options>Advanced that 'Show prompt to backup registry' is checked.
  9. Your welcome! Luckily I am a man, otherwise the wife might be disturbed. ROTFL. Happy that worked for you. I just recently discovered something that might also prove useful. I use the instant search alot from the Start menu and noticed that recent items appeared in the results (not the same as your orig prob since the files exist). I figured if I could keep recent items out, I could get more results returned. So here is what I did... Went to: C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows Right click 'Recent Items' and select properties Click Advanced, uncheck 'Index this folder for faster searching' Ok, Apply (select to all files and subfolders) Since its on the same topic I thought I would post that tip for anyone else who uses instant search alot.
  10. I think the reason is that teh dev's dont want people to use any wild card or patterns to removed files on the root of the drive. I say this because of the dialog title in my screenshot "you can not select the root of the drive". I really had hoped someone from Piriform would either explain the behavior (is intentional?) or offer a proposed solution (may be fixed in another release?). For now... The issue remains in the wind.
  11. There are 2 other similar threads. Im using Vista Business (32bit) with SP1 and Windows Search v4. I cant reproduce the issue. I've tried several times, but no go. See this thread for more info: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=17331
  12. EVNLLAIZ is a temporary folder. After reading Andavari's post I took a closer look at the folder name and realized its not a name. Its 8 random alpha characters. The file was downloaded to the temporary folder and once complete, moved to the location you chose to save it. Despite how it appears, you didnt 'double' download the file.
  13. The downloaded file is being moved from a temp location to "C:\Downloads". I assume EVNLLAIZ is your user account name and that C:\Downloads is where you chose to save the file. In any event I see this behavior all the time running Vista Business Edition. But for me it only happens with very large files. Otherwise smaller files are moved so quickly I dont see the progress dialog.
  14. Andavari, good point. I forgot that there are some files with a ~ that may not be junk. Thanks
  15. I just tried this and it worked. In my CCleaner.ini file I added the line: Include1=PATH|C:\Windows\|*~* I created a few files with ~ in the name and CC found them. In CC in the Cleaner section check the box 'Custom files and folders' in the Advanced section. This also assumes under Options, Advanced you have 'Save all settings to INI file' checked. Replace the example path C:\Windows with the path you want to check for files. You could also use the recurse option to scan all subfolders. Example: Include1=PATH|C:\Windows\|*~*|RECURSE
  16. Luckily there is no difference between Business and Ultimate. There is a 32 bit and 64 bit. More than likely you running the 32 bit version. But just in case here are both... Download the 32-bit Windows Vista Download the 64-bit Windows Vista It is a rather strange problem. I havent been able to reproduce it following the steps you outlined in your last post.
  17. If the folder is empty and in the Start menu, Recent Items is empty then CC did its thing. My first thought is that the search indexer hasnt updated the db yet. But only a theory. In my own test I had 96 shortcuts in my recent folder. Search and they are found. Cleaned with CC and searched again - got nothing. I checked the folder and it was clean. My search settings are 'Indexed Locations' with 'Include indexed, hidden' etc Also, I installed the update for WS to bring it to v4.0 on Vista Business edition. Have you installed the update? Thats another theory. KB Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940157
