1. BobJann, For cleaning applications you could add programs to the WinApp2.ini. But I will mention that few programs installed on another drive will require cleaning. I find mostly portable applications store files/junk etc within the programs installation folder. Otherwise programs like Acrobat, Office etc will store all temp and junk files on C no matter what drive the programs are installed on. You almost need to address each program on a case by case basis. Is CC detecting the program as being installed (giving you a checkbox to clean it)? Are the programs temp files and/or registry MRU's being removed? If you care to post which programs are on the E drive I can maybe let you know (for some at least) if you need to create entries for WinApp2.ini
2. Open CC and goto Options>Exclude then click the Add File button and paste this (code below) into the File Name Box and click Open: Deleted by Disk4mat
3. The easiest solution is t oexclude the following registry keys: .... Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\File MRUDeleted by Disk4mat
4. Sorry Jay I misunderstood your fist post. Its been some time since I actually used CC under the conditions I described. Possibly over the last couple years something changed in CC. I used to have 2 diff XP installs on C and D (same drive 2 partitions) and running CC from the active logged on OS resulted in cleaning the drive that was in use. Hopefully someone else might be able to offer some insight on the topic. As of now I am running a single OS so I cant do any testing.
5. The issue isnt so much that CC finds the folder and deems it as an unused extension. Its more a matter of Windows adding the name to the registry as a 'used' file extension. CC scans the file types under classes root and determines there isnt an associated application for opening .xyz So really CC has no way of knowing where the .xyz file ext came from. Be it folder, file or otherwise. CC simply found the registry entry for .xyz and dosent see an associated application. The real issue... Why is the file ext being added to the registry in the first place? Use a period in any file or folder name and its deemed an ext and added to HKCR. So it seems CC is doing its job to the letter. We cant expect CC to scan the registry then scan all drives and partitions looking to see if the file ext is being used and if so, is it a file or folder? Scanning would take forever and whether the ext is found or not still dosent mean that the ext is in use, an orphan or false positive etc. Hope that all makes sense.
6. You would have to boot up the other OS and run CC from there. CC wont clean registry hives that arent loaded. The same can be said for other aspects of the OS. If your not running CC under that OS how would CC know what to clean and where to find it? It would be a great deal of work, but you could add entries to WinApp2.ini and CCleaner.ini to include specific program and folder paths to clean for other drives. But you wont get the same degree of automation in detecting programs and paths like running CC under the other OS. Hope that makes some sense and gives you a place to start.
7. At one time I thought I posted a request for CC to get system variables from the registry. But cant find the thread. For some years I have been running XP and now Vista with all user shell folders located on a separate partition. Makes backup(s) and restore a breeze since only Windows is on the system partition. Anyway. It is required to hard code the paths. Which is also the case if you install some programs to a location other than the default. I asked about this not too long ago, but it seems no one really understood what I was trying to achieve. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=16852
8. Good info to know! The script is useful since I can run it on a schedule along with my routine backups (task scheduler).
9. Do you have the box labeled 'Hide all microsoft services' checked? If all services had really been deleted from the registry, you would know it durring boot time. AFAIK CC dosent get into the the services and only scans for obsolete startup up items in the registry run keys. What is lsited when you access Control Panel, Admin Tools, Services? Alternately what happens if you create a new user account and logon to that one and run MSCONFIG?
10. Its a bug in PA. I posted about here when it was in beta. AFAIK there are no intensions of fixing this. http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3305

12. I just wanted to post a quick comment. I use Vista x86 with ThreatFire and CC. Never has CC removed any items or references to TF. I've been using TF for over a year and CC for about 11 months. I'll make sure I stay away from Registry Booster In the future if you ever have this sort of problem again. Boot into the recovery console. From there you can disable Services and Drivers. using the DISABLE command. I forget the parameters but you could always type DISABLE /? and get a list of parameters and example usage. I had to do that once in XP when I had a botched install of Norton AV.

14. As a compromise, what about creating a 'Piriform Launch Center'. It would be a stand alone application. Detect which products are installed and display them in the launch center. So you dont have to have all 3 apps and the 'Piriform Launch Center' would be a separate program. No bloat. Here is a real quick concept image just to give you a visual. Then add a simple option like: Run CC (when CC ends if defraggler is installed) Run Defraggler. I could make such a program. Not too hard to do. But this all depends on what Amr meant by 'merge' Edit Now that I thought about it. This would be pointless. You would still have to launch the 'Piriform Launch Center' then click run to execute each app. Just as many clicks as if running each one from the start menu. If I could delete this post I would ROTFL
15. Hard to say. What was the theme you were using?
16. Only for file/folder names. Sadly you cant include or exclude based on date created/modified. If the file had the date in the file name, then it would work. Here is an example a few log files CC found on my sys. C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImage\Logs\Wednesday__October_29__2008_1_29_11_PM.log C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImage\Logs\Wednesday__October_28__2008_1_29_12_PM.log C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImage\Logs\Friday__September_19__2008_1_29_13_PM.log If I wanted to exclude logs createed on a Friday for every month I would use this Friday__*_??__200?_*.log Note for the year I replaced 8 with a ? so the year can be 2008 or 2009. Keep in mind this is only an example and there are numerous ways to create patterns. That would make a great feature request. Only delete file(s) that are x days old. You might start a new thread for that.
17. Whiteshark gave a good explanation! Along with the * you can also use a ? The ? represents a single (alpha or numeric) character. Here is an example. Example 1: Accept?Files.exe Will find: Accept1Files.exe, Accept8Files.exe, AcceptZFiles.exe Wont find: Accept91Files.exe, AcceptXYZFiles.exe Example 2: Image??.jpg Will find: Image01.jpg, Image99.jpg, ImageXY.jpg Wont find: Image1.jpg, Image212.jpg, ImageXYZ.jpg Unlike the * the ? only represents a single character.
18. It must be a bug. I just dropped winsys into my CC folder and edited the entry to look like this... [Search Assistant Autocomplete] Deleted by Disk4mat b4 mod gets it
19. I didnt know about that. Thanks for mentioning it! I wish the Edit button performed the action of "Manual edit".
