  1. Slowday, I also bought ewido, I went here - http://www.ewido.net/en/upgrade typed in my licence key for version 3.5 and a new key is issued straight away ( not e-mailed so save this one somewhere safe) IT IS A FREE UPGRADE for licence key holders and apparently if you are due for renewal do it soon as there is an offer on for renewals. I think you will have to e-mail ewido now as the old link for the key number reminder seems to have gone. Peter ewido said it is best to uninstall old versions including beta first and reboot (and use ccleaner of course!) before installing new version. My scans seem faster than the old version and the interface is good, I am pleased with it anyway, quite a few new features.
  2. It also has a 3 level shredder, the last one of which is called paranoid mode! I've found it really easy to use with no problems so far.
  3. Thanks Glen, have cleared my cache, it was such a shock see "Eldmannen" on my computer !!
  4. The final version of ewido 4 was released this afternoon, see here for details http://www.ewido.net/en/product/
  5. I had some e-mail picures from yesterday which I opened just now. I have been online today. When I clicked on the attachments they opened in windows fax and picture viewer ( normal until I put them in Picasa) I clicked past the last picture and was interested to see Eldmannen's golf ball. Also Tony Klein's avatar and lots and lots of gifs. All that I had seen online today I guess, all in the window fax and picture viewer. Are these picture cookies?
  6. It's hard to believe that people will fall for that, but they will. You could almost see the seller sniggering as he set the site up.
  7. Krit, if you look in alphabetical order as you said, there is not a folder called dllcache in system 32. Perhaps it would be an idea to re-phrase your instuction wording for cutepuffy16
  8. Interesting. I definitely posted the link to this discussion here a few days ago, however the post then disappeared. RRidgely said he didn't remove it so I wonder where it went? EDIT found it in an almost identical thread in this section --- "microsoft to ease up on piracy check-ins"
  9. Cutepuffy 16, Just out of interest, is it all programs that you try to run in DOS or just one? If just one, which prog is it?
  10. Eldmannen, Please try not to be so negative
  11. There was also a suggestion ( at the bottom) that it could be virus related, which is why I thought you might want to follow that up. As for having to possibly reinstall windows, I would wait under someone with more knowledge than I have, advises you if that is really what you need to do.
  12. Here is an interesting read for you, people with the same problem. The way the thread ends you may want to ask Andy's advice again. http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windows/t-5...struction-.html
  13. Interesting thread here over on Wilders. Someone has made a prog to do away with the notifications side of the tool. ( read from top) http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread....4969#post774969
  14. Diane, A bit of reading for you, http://www.jmadden.info/WindowsHelp5.htm
  15. Hello dearmaniro, Are you trying to delete this jpeg? If so do you get an error message? Or are you just trying to open the jpeg ? ( it says in your post you tried unlocker but the jpeg still wouldn't open )
  16. DJ, I refuse to accept that remark and must insist on the UK having a share in the stupidity market. Only last week a guy was on a rooftop hurling bricks at the police and then demanded something to eat and drink. This was duly passed up to him. The reason why was given as, it might have infringed his human rights if they had refused to do so.
  17. Hello Mudd, I get that with the hosts file when I want to go back when browsing. All I do is right-click on the back button and choose which page I want to go back to.
  18. Glad you got it sorted nhn, and welcome to the forum
  19. Have been doing a bit more looking around and if your problem is how I understand it, (that is the left hand pane opens again with the new window when you have clicked on an icon on the right.) it can be caused by your default folder action being set to explore instead of open. Click tools, folder options, file types, find (NONE) folder in list. Highlight it, click advanced button. If this is your problem explore will be in bold. Change back to open by clicking open, then click " set default button". Open should now be in bold. Click ok to close.
  20. You could make a start by looking at this thread of rridgley's, until Andavari gets back to you. I followed it to do mine, and as you can see by the thread, so did many others! http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showto...5&hl=hosts+file
  21. I am very glad that you chose to edit out the nasty remarks you wrote about me and insert the above instead. In fact if my grandchildren had spoken to me the way you did in the edited out post, you would be blowing bubbles now. However, my opinion of your original post in this thread has not changed.
  22. I'm not to sure either, but just in case Glenn's solution is not what you meant you could try, open my computer -tools -folder options -general , and deselect "open each folder in its own window" Let us know how you get on !
  23. I like that Humpty.
  24. Well, well. Ron the Con, I think if you had not made your first post in this forum, one that has come across as if your knowledge of computers is so great, people here should be thankful you've dropped by to impart your wisdom, you may have had a better response than you have. Perhaps in future posts you may keep that in mind.
