Do you use Outpost software such as the security suite or firewall? I ask because Spam Terrier is produced by Agnitum who also the Outpost software. As far as I can tell it was released in March this year.

What happens if you take ownership of the reg key via right-click, security advanced and change permissions to delete it? Take care with any alterations in the registry, backups are recommended.

If as you say, they are being deleted even when CCleaner is not installed, perhaps it is time to check settings on your firewall and antivrus to see if either is deleting them before they are being stored. What do you use?

Do you have these applications ticked in the list which appears under the applications tab in CCleaner? If so try unticking them.

Dial a fix does not work with vista at the moment. CCleaner is not doing too bad with vista at the moment, although there are a few areas where cleaning can be hindered by vista's controls on things, as lots of software developers have found. There is a new CCleaner version due out soon which should address hopfully some of those areas. What problems are you having?

In CCleaner applications do you have Firefox cookies ticked or unticked?

Hello Coldmoon and welcome to the forum Your software returnil has created a lot of interest, and it is good to see software developers coming down to grass root level! One of the points I made about examples was because vitualization is quite a new concept for a lot of people. The common questions you seem to be asked (as I am sure you have noted) are things like what happens to the anti virus updates in this imaginary space, and how do I put things in and out of it, what happens to email attachments. These type of questions are asked because they tend to form the core basics of a users needs. Cater in the helpfiles for a minority and they may be all you get, cater for the majority with good basic info and that is who you may get. I have found that by using the words "for example" followed by a real scenario with graphics if possible, always seems to stick in the brain better. Anyway Coldmoon, look forward to having a look at your new version.

Sorry to hear of your problem and can understand you must feel upset. Does any of this apply to you? Such as the motherboard etc. http://www.biermann.org/philipp/STOP_0x0000007B/ I take it that this is the fix you tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883114 I have never heard of CCleaner doing this after use by the way.

I have no idea if there is a different way to do this ( there probably is a dead easy way!) What I did was to open windows explorer and go into c/ and then programs and found CCleaner. Clicked to show the files in right-hand pane. Then in view, chose details, right click-clicked on the explorer bar ( the one that says name etc) and chose more, ticked date accessed and then ok. If you then right-click on the CCleaner.exe in that list and choose properties it will show you the last time you accessed it. It will also show you this info when you right-click and choose properties on the desktop icon. As far as I know you can do this for most files etc. through explorer. Let me know if this works for you.

Apparently more rain at the weekend It has been awful here in Yorkshire with some people losing their lives. Are you choosing in CCleaner, options> cookies and highlighting the ones you want to keep in the delete column and using the arrow in the middle to send them over to the keep column?

Have a read here tamk it may help explain permission problems. http://wiki.djlizard.net/Repair_permissions I suppose you could explain it in a way by saying that sometimes the operating sysytem gets a bit mixed up about which user has the right to do what, and resetting the defaults sometimes can help.

As I asked before, I take it you are using xp? Of course all parts of CCleaner are free
