  1. Could someone please send one to mfenech1@yahoo.com ? Thanks.
  2. I recently switched from Avast to etrust also. I had no problems with Avast, but with all the recommendations (elsewhere, not just here) and the one-year trial, I figured I'd have nothing to lose.
  3. - Adblock Plus w/ Filterset.G Updater - Ads?? What are those? - SpellBound - Why can't they flag a lower-case 'i' as a typo if MS Word can..? - Tab Mix Plus - Best tabs extension, IMO. - Super DragAndGo - I must use this 4-5 times a day. - NoScript - The missing piece to Adblock, although I haven't found too much benefit from it yet.
  4. The memory leak problems is worse for me now than it was previously.
  5. Is there a good reason for me to replace Sygate now? Unlike anti-spyware and anti-virus programs, firewalls aren't updated on a continuing basis, right? Should it really matter that much, assuming there's no overwhelming reason not to use Sygate in the first place?
  6. Do you have Firefox open when you run CCleaner? If so, you'll have to close FF to 'clean' it. That's the only way I can do it, at least.
  7. HJT log moved to Spyware Hell forum...
  8. Update: Today she tells me a few other programs were acting up, so I had her just do a System Restore back to last Friday. Everything is working normal again. Later on tonight, I'll have her run CCleaner, Ad-Aware, and ewido again, hopefully without all the complications this time. Assuming that goes well, I'll get a HJT log posted here afterwards. Thanks for the help so far.
  9. Ok... I got her up on Firefox, had her set it as the default browser, and it was able to open and connect to site normally. She had to hit Refresh to access any link she selects using Start/Favorites/[link] to open IE. I'll get a HJT log from her either later this evening or tomorrow. I confirmed she performed a Windows Update earlier this week. I'm not sure how this could be a spyware-related problem, even though it started after removing spyware from her PC. It seems more like something got messed up in IE as a result. ???
  10. She's in Cali, I'm in Texas. I should be hearing from her within a few hours. We'll try Firefox next (pray for me), to help isolate if the problem is with IE or not. I'll get a HJT log posted either way. Thanks.
  11. I've had her run CCleaner initially...that's a given. Would that not clear the items in step 1? She had the index.dat option checked already. [EDIT: Sorry...had to figure out what you meant by step 2.]
  12. I did have have her to the online scan from the ewido site. No change. Getting her on Firefox might be asking too much of her, especially since I'm working with her over the phone. It was hard enough getting her to this point, trust me. I'll see what I can do.
  13. I was helping out a friend set up Ad-Aware. After running it and cleaning out some spyware, she had to restart XP to finish. Once everything was back up, she found her IE had a new problem. Whenever she opens IE, either by a bookmark or just opening IE to her homepage, it won't connect to the website initially, and just times out. Once she hits Refresh, the site comes up right away. If she has IE open and tries another URL, that comes up fine also. Anyone know what this could be? Thanks.
  14. Um...are we supposed to laugh now...?
  15. Found QTTasks on mine also. No problem removing it.
  16. Here's a whole bunch of them: http://www.dsl-speed.org/test.htm
  17. Twisted...you need Adblock.
  18. Try the TCP Optimizer tool at the top of this page: http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php It probably has the setting(s) you're talking about listed.

    K-lite

I have the install .exe for the last clean version of K-Lite (2.4.3). I only use it for downloading music. Always worked like a champ. I can email out a copy if you want it. I usually look for more obscure and older music. Problem is, K-Lite's network isn't nearly as large as it once was (to say the least). I use Limewire for my music searches now. I can't find something right away, then I'll check on K-Lite. Actually, I'll probably uninstall K-Lite and save the install .exe in case I need to fire it up again. Shareaza's always an option too.
  20. Is there really any difference between the three packages, aside from MSAS? In spite of its merits, Ewido isn't freeware, so should it be included? Hey, lookie here - rridgely's sportin' a badge.
  21. Symantec aquired Sygate???
  22. Yea...if I would have researched it on the Mozilla forums prior I would have found that out. I wouldn't have recommended what I did to anyone else.
  23. I tried it two weeks ago. Nothing too noticeable difference-wise, but it lost the scroll bar on the right side after I added a few extensions. I had also added a few themes that were Deer Park exclusives, and when I tried to revert back to the previous version, the old themes were messed up in a way where I could no longer use the program. Sooooooo...I had to do a complete uninstall including cleaning out the remaining folders, and install 1.0.6 from scratch. Perhaps I shouldn't have tried to install it over the current FF...? Oh well, it was still fun to reassemble it again and I didn't lose anything in the process.
