I`ve done the download and it has stopped the duplication of browser window thanks for the help thought for the day..one day windows 7 will be XP.....

My Sandboxie is working..since the update..but I have just noticed when I open my browser sandboxed It gives me two opended at the same time(both homepage) in the task bar ! anyone else had that ! if i open the browser unsandboxed it just opens the once... Anyone else had this?

Good News to report ! I`ve done what you have suggested Hazelnut and I uninstalled Online Armor.. I had to check that Avast was running ok..but it was playing up.i was getting program not responding ,so i have uninstalled and reinstalled Avast and now reinstalled O.A Both seem to be running and behaving themselves yippee !! I have done a scan to make sure everthing is still as it was (actually i did a boot scan with Avast and it has found an archive corrupted in windows office,but i will look at this and prob post a quick question about it) But the great news is..it seems to have worked and now I do not have a three minute wait,everything is there straight away ! So I just want to thank all of you who posted and gave me assistance and ideas it truly is appreciated... Fluff

Hi Dennis thanks for the suggestion have done that,still on my three minute mile ! I am doing a full Avast,Superantispyware and Malwarebytes scans again to make double sure there`s nothing nasty, then i`ll defrag.. Something seems to point to Online Armor in that that i tried again to not auto start it up like Hazlenut suggested and my screen is populated instantly but then i get failures in Avast with the relatime shields being knocked out.. had a quick look at their O.A forum but can`t find anyone having similar (I think it`s official now from the Significant Other..that the computer is slow and it`s my fault.. because.."you`ve been fiddling about")

Sory Hazelnut I misread it from Avast no i`m running the free version without the firewall.. I have now exluded OA from Avast,as well as Avast from OA ! I have still red notpassed messages in wizard so i think your correct it likely i haven`t got OA set up correctly,i wonder if i unistalled and went through it again...

Back in from the garden for a minute ! I`ve excluded Avastfrom O.A and my icon for avast is back on the bottom task bar.. no change in startup speed..however I have just noted that Avast5 has "a fully intergrated firewall" i wonder if that has conequences with also running O.A.. and i did an O.A saftey check wizard and got two not passed items in start-up and start up objects.. not sure what to try next really..!!!

Hazelnut Sorry i miss read your post no I didn`t uninstall On line armour... .tried two things..first l stopping java,nvidia tray and adobe reader from startup...no difference in starup time exactly three mintutes again.(but will keep them disabled) But Whhoooaaaa !! Tried your suggestion unticked online armour on start-up .and then restarted ....every thing was there in a second !!!!! However !!!! Avast came up with a message that the (two)realtime shields were turned off (not had that before.) I turned on online armour and everything settled down and behaved itself !.Strangely i also noted that the Avast icon was back on my task bar at the bottom.now this icon has been missing for a while even though i had ticked the box to show it in Avast settings.its as if something was stopping it showing and turning off on line armour allowed it back ! Well now I am to presume there is conflict between Avast and Online armour ?? if so is there a way of getting them to work in harmony !!! also do i need sandboxie in the startup menu ? Sorry its more questions but i think we are close !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Richard(redhawk) thanks for the help on the HD tune up .. big high five for the same hard drive make and model !!! Hey Guys thanks for the replies and ideas Richard, Anti virus software running and hasn`t picked up anything, Can`t say whether it has slowly built up to a slow start or it just happened..i just seem to notice it now and it`s almost to the second three minutes everytime, If I run in safe mode everthing populates so quick !! ran device manager-locate ide ata controllers it says device 0 transfer mode "DMA if availiable" just dowwnloded "speccy" and rellocated sectors count had 000000000E Icedrake--looks like a good idea. .i would though like to know what has caused the slow start.. Andavari--I`m running Avast (5 )and i also think superantispyware updated recently and it has a "start up program when i checked in CCleaner start up so does "java update"for what i do`nt know ! I wonder if the answer does lie in what is starting up that i do`nt need to start up ! Fluff

Hi I seem to have noticed that my computer has a really slow start up,I get the windows screen up (XP) then my wallpaper appears...and then the dreaded wait for the screen to populate with taskbar and shortcut icons to internet,email etc.. I timed it yesterday and from wallpaper desktop picture to icons appearing was three minutes..thats a long time ! Can anyone point me in the direction of what i can do (newbie style) to speed up this ?.I looked on CCleaner to see what is in startup and there are 15 programs in start up any ideas most wellcome !! What i thought was the windows firewall was in fact my online armour windows had picked up that A firewall was on but not the windows one,just tested it by turning on and off the online armour...doh..... Hi Hazelnut! I`m using OA v4.0.0.10 although when i visit O.A site there`s a version free v4.0.0.35 availiable for download,but myy installed version says there no new update ! I thought the problem was a microsoft one but Hazel I think your correct as I found the followingpost in the OA forum... I am hoping that when activated OA is not running in tandem with Windows Firewall creating conflict. As I am unable to access the WSC gui I am unable to access the windows firewall controls. so i will join the OA forum and ask their ta very much ! Fluff

Thanks for th comments guys redhawk-i`m sure that i turned the firewall off,when i installed online armour,now i don`t seem to have an option ! its on and staying on ! i cant turn it off aethec-Online armour seems to work great(better than windows firewall) because it lets me know so many times and asks when anything new happens....i thought i could run windows defender separate from the firewall.... marmite-i had noticed my comp takes longer to"wake up"when i switch it on thats when i looked and saw that two firewalls are both on,i wondered if this contributed to a slower start up...

Hi Guys I installed on line armor as a new firewall some months ago,which seems to work great ! I have just noticed that my windows firewall is on as well...I am sure i tuned it off ! when i go to windows "security centre" it is showing the green light button indicationg it is on when I click on windows firewall the radio button i sclicked on OFF not recommended,if i ok this nothing changes i`m just wondering if i`m going doo lally !! I was bothered that having the two firewalls on would cause some conflict,if its ok to have them both i`ll leave it,but it seems odd that windows won`t let me turn it off ! I wondered if they had altered something with an update any insight would be gratefully accepted !! Fluff

Fluff here! reporting that when i now empty the sandbox or just shut down everyything has gone ! I`m still on RMDIR delete, Aqua-i`m not going to use Sdelete for now i might try eraiser see Dennis`s comments ... Thankyou cc1 you were correct Sdelete just wasn`t doing it ! it maybe not loaded properly perhaps Hazelnut thanks for your kind approach in understanding when and what i do`nt understand! cc1 Oh yes you`ve hit on something there i`ve changed deletion from sdelete to rmdir and guess what??? it`s cleared a load of out it out,some of the folders have gone yessssssssssssssss! i`m not counting chickens yet but i think your right sdelete hasn`t been deleting ! with regard to the location i was finding these files and superantispyware,in it`s quranteen it had the tracking cookies at this location C:\sanbox\user\_delete_defaultbox_01AA................C\user\current\cookies\user@ads.audxch.txt it could have been related to the sdelete... i`m going to keep browsing and deleting the sandbox and see if this has craked it i`ll repost soon !
