The answer is system stand by, but you might as well disable both. LAN activity in Windows (i.e., your DSL) has the potential for spinning your hard drives back up while they are sleeping -- so your hard drive(s) will get spin-down wear and tear from going up and down, up and down. Might as well leave your computer running all the time.

Got that today, except it was under the heading 'Security Risks'. Right now, I'm not certain this is a specific malware causing this, because recent Norton products "don't share" status with other programs/take over the Windows firewall settings, and I believe those are the settings being found.

This is ironic. I was playing with those keys so that I could help you out, and I made it to where I could delete the Recycle Bin, which is awesome... so I deleted it. It did a *great* job of deleting it apparently... Merged your .reg you just posted and now I have my recycle bin back

Had the same results across the board: doesn't matter about OS version, nor whether you're in safe mode or normal mode.

It's not actually a problem, it's a feature. It changes the brightess, as stated, according to whether AC power is applied or not. The only way to change this is if your dell BIOS has support for changing it. Boot up and tap F2, or F10, or whatever the hell key it wants you to tap to get into BIOS/SETUP. If it's not in there, and you have the latest BIOS revision, then you can't change this feature.

Make a shortcut to CCleaner [and put it anywhere on your system you want, or even right-click-properties-General-hidden checkmark] that contains the /auto switch (or not) and then on the Shortcut tab, change the Shortcut key to something. I hit control+c which made the shortcut key alt+control+c, which works here
