ZsoltKantor
Hello, these two errors started to appear in version 5.72.xxxx and in 5.73.xxxx is still there. Prior to these versions no such error was present. When I go to 'Options -> Advanced' and try to check the 'Skip User Account Control warning ' I'm getting in a new window a 'The system cannot font the path specified' error. When I try to check the 'Save all settings to INI file' in the same menu, a window pops up telling: 'Failed to save settings due to a permission error' I reinstalled the two versions older (CCleaner 5.71) and the bugs disappear. I'm using currently the latest CCleaner. I attacked two screenshots with the errors. Edited October 29, 2020 by ZsoltKantor

ZsoltKantor
So it could be a bug . . . v5.71 and older shows no such problem.

I was able to replicate this problem as well and I've reported this to our development team so they can investigate further, and work on getting this problem resolved. Moderators nukecad Posted October 30, 2020 Moderators Share Posted October 30, 2020 I've previously posted a workaround for the Skip UAC issue:https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/59402-turning-off-giving-ccleaner-permission-everytime-windows-10-boots-workround/?tab=comments#comment-324431 I'll repeat the basic steps here: Quote Open CCleaner Options>Advanced and click on the UAC setting to get the error message. Close the message and without doing anything else close CCleaner. Reopen CCleaner and the setting should have been turned off. Click the setting again to turn it on and without doing anything else close CCleaner. That should now have reset the UAC control and turned it on so that you no longer see the UAC. That resets the scheduled task for Windows 10, it should be similar for Win7 or Win8 and is worth trying. I haven't found a workround for the INI issue yet though. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Worried about why some files come back after cleaning? ZsoltKantor
Version 5.74 was released but this bug was still not fixed. It is there back to version 5.72. I just want to know it it will be fixed in a future version or not? It is frustrating to click those boxes and error windows appears.

However further testing has shown that the 'save to .ini' setting is in fact being changed and saved when you tick or untick it. It is the message itself being shown that is the error. ie. There is no error, so the message should not be being shown. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Worried about why some files come back after cleaning? No. It´s still not working at all when running under a restricted account.
Moderators nukecad Posted December 11, 2020 Moderators Share Posted December 11, 2020 What we have found in practice is that if you tick or untick the 'save to .ini' box you get the error message and the tickbox doesn't change, but if you then close and reopen CCleaner you'll see that the setting and tickbox has actually been changed. And if you look at the .ini file itself in File Explorer the date/time modified has been changed. Just for clarity what Windows version are you running now? I notice that when posting last year you were still using XP. But I'm not sure just what you are meaning when you say "running under a restricted account." Obviously an account with restricted permissions, but just what are those restrictions? To save a .ini file the user must have permission to write to the folder where CCleaner is installed. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Dachstein
It´s Windows Version 10 20H2 Build 19042.685. The restricted account I´m talking about is a normal user account without administrative privileges. And even with the administrator account the .ini file is saved in the folder where ccleaner is installed, but I still get both error messages Zslotkantor is talking about. As said above - It is the warning messages themselves that are being shown in error. The settings are being changed, but for some reason something is triggering the error message and it's being shown when it shouldn't be. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'?
