Test web speed

I was looking at a Win8 app to show my download/upload speeds and stumbled on what I think is a better site than speedtest.net

It's called speedof.me and seems more accurate and very simple.

Only gripe is I wish the Start Test... button was more prominent.

Hope they stand by this line

It is the smartest and most accurate online bandwidth test.

Ran the test more then 5 times getting random results even with no downloads active but this was about right:
Download Speed: 670 kbps
Upload Speed: 430 kbps

Download Speed: 2.75 Mbps

Upload Speed: 920 kbps

which is about standard for my area.

I like how it keeps trying the download test until it gets one that lasts for more than 8secs, then halves that to use as it's upload test.

Hopefully that means you can compare apples with apples despite your broadband type of connection.

I am saddened by my woeful speeds compared to others listed above - damn you all !

Hey mta I'm not much better down here in the Grampians: download: 4.5mbps upload: 1.5mbps

Still I suppose it's reasonable considering it's peak time (usually busy between 4.00pm & 8.00pm) and I'm only using Telstra 3G mobile broadband.

Think I'll try again around 11.00pm to midnight.

Always With Kind Regards

I had a 100mbps line in my dorm room a few years ago at RIT, some rooms had gigabit lines (serviced with symetrical gigabit speeds)

That's the life, in so far as internet speeds go. Cablevision (my provider at home) is actually pretty decent, thankfully neither comcast nor TWC operate at all to my knowledge on Long Island

Download: 30.3Mbps

Upload: 17.99Mbps

Paying for 25/25 service, but typical that actual upload speed is lower outside the ISP's network.

I'm paying for 20/5 service, it's literally costing me about $3 more than the slower connection speed I previously had. However since 5 mbps upload rate isn't available in my area yet it's limited to 0.895 mbps.  Most people on my ISP don't have a 20 mbps download rate for my area, they had to come to the house and install fiber optic lines before I could upgrade.

Tested out very visually attractive and looks good., My  upload speed is deplorable, but of no real interest. It is the download speed that is important to me.
