Currently secure connection on MVPS.org HOSTS File fails, it works in-secure at:

http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm

That's possibly why it has also been failing to update in uBlock Origin for a day now.

Looks like it was temporary, it's back up now.

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

Strange. I tried to update using HostsXpert like usual and I get an error that says it cannot connect to the website.  I'll have to try again later.

Probably the HTTPS issue that comes and goes on there for the past month or so, i.e.; if the site doesn't work try in-secure HTTP. Actually it's also been happening to some subscriptions in ad blocking browser extensions.

I think the URL to the MVPS website is coded into HostsXpert.  Not sure I can change that.  I ended up doing it manually.

I switched to hostman today.  You can edit the source url to https and it works.  It's the suggested app on mvps now.

sadly hostxpert is dead and funkytoad is a whole different thing now :(

That's why I didn't use hostman years ago.  How do I disable that "feature?"

Also, the hostman version on the MVPS website is: HostsMan_4.7.105.zip

I found that I had an old saved copy from 2019 that is a later version: HostsMan_4.8.106_installer.zip

I'm not sure which to use.

They way it jumbles the hosts file together was instant in my case years ago when using it.

At least it used to do that (don't know about newer or current versions) because on the two or three separate occasions I tried it over several years I couldn't put up with the mess it makes. My thoughts were it may possibly make a hosts hijack difficult for anti-virus/anti-malware to detect, and practically impossible for an end-user to find if looking through the hosts file with a text editor.
