tommyk
Somehow the Yahoo Toolbar has been installed. I can't find it in the Remove Hardware It's not in the Add Ons in Firefox I clicked on the "pencil" in Yahoo where supposedly you can uninstall it but there is no "uninstall" This just happened a few days ago . . . and I can't figure out how to uninstall it! redhawk
If it's not in add-ons then perhaps you need to customise your toolbar?? (view, toolbars, customize...) Richard S.
Guest
Remove Hardware? Wouldn't a check in Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel suit your purpose better?

tommyk
I should have said add/remove programs . . . but Yahoo is not there. Customizing my toolbar revealed nothing about Yahoo. HAZELNUT: None of the images look like the Yahoo Toolbar I have. I have McAfee Site Advisor loaded . . . perhaps Yahoo got downloaded with it? But McAfee is not in my add/remove programs and I can't see what else got downloaded with it.
tommyk
In my main page for web browsing (MSN.COM) I typed in dog days and this is what I got with the Yahoo Toolbar http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=mcafee&p=dog+days I see McAfee there . . . I uninstalled McAfee but still got the above http Can anyone tell from the image how I can uninstall Yahoo or what version it is?
tommyk
After uninstalling McAfee Site Advisor . . . I reinstalled it. And there was the option for the Yahoo Toolbar (sneaks!) I unclicked it and finished the download. I rebooted then went to my web browser to search for something and Yahoo Search Results showed up AGAIN! The strange thing is McAfee has been on my system for more than 2 years and there was never a problem with Yahoo showing up. I'm at a lost trying to figure out how to remove the Yahoo Search Results and going straight to Google!

Moderators Andavari Posted November 29, 2010 Moderators Share Posted November 29, 2010 Are you certain some installation didn't just change your search engine in your browser(s) to Yahoo? It's a relatively easy change to make in browser(s) preferences.

tommyk
Hazelnut: I followed the instructions for "Change the default engine of Firefox address bar" and that worked. I don't know for the life of me how that "Yahoo" thing got there. Thanks

Moderators Nergal Posted December 2, 2010 Moderators Share Posted December 2, 2010 The latest Site Advisor pops up and says do you want to add secure search, this is confusing (I was confused by it and even told it yes) as it seems to be asking if I want site advisor to inform me on search sites of the green/yellow/red/white state of a site. It does not mean that, it means it wants to add a yahoo search to the browser(s) This is most likly what occured for you ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.
