TeeJay3800
http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-an...nd-anti-rootkit Apparently, AVG Anti-Spyware is now integrated with the paid versions of AVG Anti-Virus and is no longer available separately. That is too bad since its been my favorite anti-spyware product for a long time now. Now I need to find a replacement. What do you guys recommend? I'm considering Spyboy S&D, Ad-Aware, a-squared, or SuperAntiSpyware. I want something with fast scans and NO real-time protection. Any suggestions? Anthony A
Well that is sad. Now we have lost Ad-Aware and AVG AS. Ad Aware 2007 is not good and unless you use AVG AV you lose the AVG AS.
Coronagold
I'm not surprised. A lot of early free progams, if they're successful, will go for profit. That was what they were aiming for in the first place. Y' know, feeding family & kin & such.
Humpty
Can you remember when Giant antispyware was the best and MS got hold of it and turned it into something else, Windows Defender I think? And I think AVG AS used to be Ewido. Anyway SuperAntispyware would be my choice for an on demand AS.
Moderators rridgely Posted April 25, 2008 Moderators Share Posted April 25, 2008 They integrated it into AVG free as well(so you now get free autoupdates to the antispyware engine where you didnt when it was stand alone). I haven't tried it yet though. Pretty happy without any AV at the moment.
TeeJay3800
Anyway SuperAntispyware would be my choice for an on demand AS. I was leaning towards that or Ad-Aware 2007. Is AA 2007 really as bad as I've heard? Dell Latitude D600 Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1

hotdoge3
New one is out free & better > http://www.computerworld.com.au/index.php/...;4194304;fpid;1 AVG Free Edition 8.0 merges anti-virus with anti-spyware, adds safe-search LinkScanner technology incorporated into AVG?s latest free offering. Andrew Hendry 24/04/2008 12:37:55 * AVG's Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0 will be available for download from Friday 25 April, providing basic protection against viruses and spyware to consumers. The key difference AVG Free 8.0 boasts over the previous edition is the merging of AVG's anti-virus and spyware engine into the one product. "So now it only requires one pass to do both jobs," said AVG's Australia New Zealand marketing manager Lloyd Borrett. "That would be a primary reason (for upgrading) but I really think one of the key reasons is that we've also put the LinkScanner real time safe-searching technology into the product as well," he said. http://www.explabs.com/ have a look it good.
