  1. Glad you posted that, just downloaded it. Thanks.
  2. Class action civil suit by the parents would get them moving , and also get plenty of attention on the situation. Maybe not as much as a 40 year criminal sentence, but plenty.
  3. I had that on mine older machine which I had tried to network. Thought I had been hacked. Glad you posted the answer.
  4. OK...OK...took it again, it is insidious, did worse, but not much. . .still not tellin.
  5. Sounds like a very interesting person. Wonder where he went for 2 years?
  6. Even if so, she's broke by now. I got sort of interested in this one, just enough to google a bit. Not too thorough, but enough to know that a storm is brewing. Bet school admins are taking notice. I did google the 2 hairstyle websites: http://www.hair-styles.org and http://www.new-hair-styles.com One of them is in Russian. Scared me a bit, but there I went anyway. No porn found. No bugs apparent. More info to be found at: http://www.norwichbulletin.com/apps/pbcs.d.../701230336/1002 and http://www.networkperformancedaily.com/200..._julie_a_1.html for the prosecution: http://www.computerworld.com/blogs/node/4346 for the defense: http://sunbeltblog.blogspot.com/2007/01/co...-is-guilty.html sorta neutral, http://www.pbs.org/teachers/learning.now/2...in_the_jul.html and http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,129226-pg,1/article.html Interestingly, few seem to fault the school administrators, but that is maybe changing. One shot across the bow of the school administration: http://www2.blogger.com/feeds/235497716100...;max-results=25 No mention of testimony from the children. That is to be expected, but I wonder what they said, if anything, about the incident. My 2 cents: We should take extraordinary measures to protect children from themselves. Whaddaya think?
  7. duhhh. . .I'll never tell. . .
  8. Great news. Thank you.
  9. Thanks, Sputnik. I went and got it.
  10. I thank you also. . . did not know of that site.
  11. Once every 2 or 3 weeks unless something ugly happens.
  12. . . .We may have to go offshore with this one. . .
  13. Well, it's pretty funny, I hadn't seen it. I have the feeling that I just got chipped out of the ice or something, most of the stuff on this forum is new to me. Sort of on topic: We seem to have many new words in the language, courtesy of Bill Gates. Adware, malware, spyware, bloatware, trojan horses, keyloggers, rootkits, etc. How about one word for all of these __wares: "Terrorware". When I win the lottery, we will form a company called Omniware, to combat terrorware. We will market a utility called Tupperware: Tremendously Useful Pest Prevention, Eradication, and Repair-ware. Tupperware will easily contain terrorware. We'll all be rich and famous.
  14. Thanks again for all the help. Never did find out what the problem was, went back thru internet options, and Zone firewall settings, hadn't changed a thing??? A note: It has been my experience that grandchildren cause digital photography to flourish, along with digital camcorders, editing software, recording hardware, purchasing newer and faster computers, faster dvd drives, and resultant poverty. But, the game is certainly worth the candle.
  15. I also installed and ran the full version. Seems to run as fast as Spybot S&D and Adaware. No apparent harm to my computer. Firewall pops up requests to update, I just let it do so, could disable that in preferences. I like it, but might not pay to renew it after the trial is up. Some functions are disabled after that. It found some adware, missed BoPing, Showin, couple of others. Just now noticed that this topic started in August of 06, but gonna post this anyway, might be useful. Moving slower but not yet stopped.
  16. Just ran SuperAntiSpyware, it found adware in some "free" software I downloaded a while back but have not used. Great program, fairly fast and very thorough. Thanks for the tip. The freeware was a bunch of video and audio stuff with "zilla" in the name, and a file called Bearshare.exe, which is not the problematic Bearshare file, but has the same name. Oddly enough, Superantispyware did not hit on the files I have from Foundstone. These include Showin, BoPing, and Attacker. Most every scanner hits on those. Thanks again for the link. Good program.
  17. Well, thanks to all of you for the concern and help. I can now see all the pictures, and the links, Hazelnut's, Cowboy357's, all of them. They are really very nice pictures. Very dramatic photo, Cowboy357, things are looking bad for the fox. Don't know what changed, messed around with the IE7 settings, don't remember changing anything, tho. Now its fixed, and thank you all for helping.
  18. CA antivirus didn't get a hit, nor pest patrol, nor Avast. I think you are right, false positive. Wow, that app is so fast it's scary.
  19. The hoodlums around here would throw water on it till the lights went out, THEN steal it. If it wouldn't start, they'd take the hubcaps.
  20. One of the problems with Velvet Ants is that they are so pretty. Scarlet and black, kinda furry, not very aggressive. But if they sting. . .wow. . .The stinger is almost as long as the insect itself. Never been a victim, but have read about it. I still cannot see the pictures in Hazelnut's post, but can see the other pictures, and the link I copied. No problem, checked all the forum settings, all seems OK. I did, however, wonder if everyone else can see Hazelnut's link or picture?
  21. Hazelnut, in post number 6 and post number 10, this thread, there are references to pictures, but on my screen there is no link, no picture. Found the link by clicking on the direct reply option, then going directly to the site in another window. Great pictures, by the way. Thanks. I am wondering if there is some setting I have set wrong, keeps me from seeing the originally posted link or picture? I can see the link OK in the reply I posted, and sure enough, click on it and there is the dragonfly.
  22. cannot see the link in the reply, but when I click on "reply" as opposed to "add reply" it shows this link: http://img267.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1010684bv0.jpg, and there it is. Nice picture. . .that dragonfly is watching you as closely as you are watching it. Wonder why the link didn't show in the post? I am new to this forum business. Often lost and wandering. . .
  23. . . .the jury is still out. . .
  24. Really nice pictures. Super detail. Here is one, an insect called a Velvet Ant, actually a wingless wasp capable of delivering a very painful sting. This one was released unharmed.
