  1. This is a user forum, not official support, so the speed of replies depends if someone who knows an answer logs on and sees your post or not.

If you would prefer to raise an official support ticket you can contact official support by emailing them at support@ccleaner.com Use the same email address you used when purchasing CCleaner.
(I have already flagged your issue to the staff, but that's not the same as an individual support ticket).

You new screenshot shows a different error code from the one you first reported: error code 1638.
Again though, that particular 1638 code says that you are trying to install something that is already installed.

Have you been to the Audacity website and made sure that your Audacity is up to date?
(Although TBH I don't think this is to do with updating Audacity).

As for the hourly frequency: CCleaner's Scheduling cannot be set to run on an hourly schedule.
From your Reliability Monitor it looks like Windows itself is trying to reconfigure the updater every hour for some reason.
(There's also an outside chance that something else is trying to alter/hijack the updater).

In your shoes I would uninstall CCleaner, Restart your computer (Restart not Shutdown), run a scan with Windows Defender and/or your own antivirus (just to rule out any nasties), and then reinstall CCleaner.
See if that cures the issue.

  2. Duplicate threads merged.

It may just be because it's a new version.
It can sometimes take Windows Defender, (and other AV's), a couple of days to recognise the new version.
I don't know if it has any relevence but I note your 20H2 build is higher than mine, I have 20H2 build 19042.867 and have no probems installing or running CCleaner.

    Are you installing from scratch?

From what you describe with the blank page it sounds as if you are using the 'Standard' installer, and it's unable to reach a server it needs to so can't load/show that page.

Try downloading the 'Slim' installer from here (it's the third one down) and once it's downloaded double click it to install CCleaner.
(The Slim Installer skips that particular page and doesn't try to reach that particular server).

  3. You can't stop Health Check doing that, it uses it's own cleaning rules that you can't change.

Instead you have to use Custom Clean which lets you have more choice over what is cleaned or not.

For what you want in Firefox you would untick 'Internet History' and 'Session' in the Firefox section, when unticked  Custom Clean will leave them alone.
(It's 'Session' that keeps your current logins).
Note that those settings have no effect on Health Check which will still do it's own thing and still clear the history and logins if you use it.
    image.png

To set Custom Clean as the default you see whenever you open CCleaner go to Options>Settings>CCleaner home screen

  4. Sorry I may have misunderstood , did you mean that when you "Check for Updates" you are seeing this?

    image.png

It appears to be a bug and it's sometimes showing that when instead it should say that you already have the latest version.

What version is your CCleaner? It tells you top left.
If it's 5.78.8558 then you are up to date.

If it's still 5.77 then you could try Closing CCleaner and waiting a minute, then reopen CCleaner and check for updates again.

  5. What you describe is usually caused by your antivirus or firewall settings blocking the install.

Try  downloading the Slim installer 'ccsetup578_slim.exe' from the builds page:
    https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds

Once downloaded double click it to install.

(If it still doesn't install then try disconnecting from the internet and then double clicking it again. Note that if that works it indicates that something AV/firewall is blocking it and may also block some of the standard CCleaner tools/options).

  6. You don't have to pay for updates.
You only pay if you have CCleaner Free and you want to upgrade from Free to Pro.

Just open CCleaner and click on 'Check for Updates' and then 'Update Now' - and CCleaner will update itself to the latest version.
Even easier is to go to Options>Updates and set it to update automatically whenever there's a new version, or turn it on using the switch in the screenshot below.
(PS. Speccy hasn't had a new version for a while now).

  7. I'm not sure why twice an hour but that doesn't sound like CCleaner at all.

Do you have any other Software Updater or Driver Updater installed?

Can you post a screenshot of the  message? That may help tell us where it is coming from.
I know that you say it's from Windows "Security and Maintenance" but there may be something else there in a screenshot that gives another clue.

Have you been to the Audicity website and tried updating from there?

  8. If your licence is still valid then the 'form' where you enter it is in CCleaner itself, Options>About>Upgrade to Pro.

See this article for how to register CCleaner:
    https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/204043844-How-to-register-and-activate-CCleaner-Professional#what-do-i-need-to-have-to-register--0-2

If you mean that you can't remember what your registered name and/or licence key is then you need this page (and yes it could be easier to find):
    https://www.ccleaner.com/support/license-lookup

To use the licence lookup you do need to use the email address that you used when you bought the licence, and the licence will be reconfirmed to that email address.
If you cannot access that email address anymore then you will need to contact support from your new email address and tell them what that old email was.
You can email support at - support@ccleaner.com

And I did not updates Chrome as I dont use that browser on my gsm

Whether you use it as a browser or not update Chrome as advised by that article, it's not just the browser that Chrome affects it's threaded throught Android.
If you use gmail you are using parts of Chrome.

And then turn off/restart your phone to refresh the settings.

This overheating issue could be related to the very large harddrive I put into this computer 14 years ago

It may simply be that it's an older machine, older tech did tend to get more overheated more often.

If it's running cooler in the evenings that suggests that the ambient air temperature may be too high during the day for the fan to cool it sufficently?
As Andavari says the heat conducting grease may have 'dried out' so heat from the chip is not being conducted effectively to the heat sink fins that the fan is blowing cooler air onto.

  11. I'm not sure what you mean by 'corrupted'?
Do you mean 2021 wouldn't work, or simply that you didn't want it?

I'm guessing that you ran Health Check, which found an update was available for PSP, and so updated/installed it for you.
That is what it is supposed to do.

If you don't want it then the easiest to try now would be to simply reinstall the  PSP version that you do want again.

Be aware that if you reinstall PSP 2020 then Health Check will try to upgrade it to PSP 2021 again every time you run Health Check.
You can stop it from updating it by clicking on 'Security' and unticking PSP - but you'd have to remember to do that everytime you run Health Check.
It would be easier to set your CCleaner to use Custom Clean (Options>Settings>CCleaner home screen) and not using Health Check in future.

If you don't want PSP 2021 and still have problems getting rid of the entry for PSP 2021 then you could try Revo Uninstaller.
The Pro and Trial versions of Revo have a 'Forced Uninstall' option that can get rid of stubborn leftovers from apps you uninstalled prior to getting Revo.
Use with care, especially when removing leftover registry entries, and I'd do it before reinstalling 2020 to avoid confusion.

I wonder if it's an icons cache related issue, although I don't know off hand if it is.

Yes. I've also been wondering about that.

However it seems like Windows 7 is wanting to put some icon in the system tray at startup, whatever that icon may be.
But it may be that it's using the CCleaner icon because it can't find the one it wants to use? Odd but possible.
And I don't see it doing that unless there is a task set in Task Scheduler?
Might not be a 'startup' task, as you know you can set a startup trigger on other tasks.

Something I've seen before on older versions of Windows is a "stuck" icons glitch in the SysTray even though the software for it has already closed. The icon stays there until something is done such as moving the mouse cursor over the stuck icon which makes it disappear.

That does sound like what is being described here.

Let's see what t_2 comes back with, a refreshing of the icon cache may well be in order and can't hurt.

  13. I would check what version of 'Audacity' you have installed, and what version CCleaner Software Updater is offering to 'update' you to.

Version 3.0.0 of Audacity was released on 17th March 2021.
    https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Release_Notes_3.0.0

TBH it's not that unusual for a version number to be written differently in different places, which can confuse software updaters.
It can be as simple as the difference between something like "3.0" and "3.0.0"  being written in different places.
We can see it's the same, but computer software is dumb. (Fast but still dumb).

And so CCleaner may think your Audacity needs an update even when it doesn't.
If CCleaner tries to install the version that you already have then Windows will generate that error.

I'll also flag this up to the CCleaner staff.

I'm not fond of allowing a REMOTE analysis in these days. No longer comfortable with that.

I have used Malwarebytes for YEARS and it has stood me in good stead.

Yes, that why I pointed out that the Malwarbytes helpers don't do that.

They only look at the logs that you provide, and tell you what any problems are and how to fix them.
You could try reading one or two of the threads there to see how it works.

What kind of proprietary info is in that file?

Nothing 'identifying' by default, but it will indicate some of the apps you have installed, and if you have made any Includes/Excludes the pathnames will be listed in there, any 'Cookies to keep' will also be listed.
I'd have no qualms about sharing mine, but some people like to be ultra-cautious about sharing info/log files on an open forum, especially if they are not sure just what info may be in the file. (Which I why I suggested doing it by PM if that would make you more comfortable).
There is no guarantee it would help anyway but it's something else I could take a look at.

'ccleaner.ini' is basically in plain text with some added flags to tell CCleaner what your settings are, so you can easily read what yours contains by opening it in notepad or similar.
Mostly the flags are True or False, which correspond to Ticked or Unticked for that option.
Mine currently starts off like this:

    Quote

    [Options]
    AP=
    AutoICS=1
    Brandover=0
    Language=1033
    (App)Adobe Reader DC=False
    (App)Amazon Kindle for PC=True
    (App)Autocomplete Form History=False
    (App)Bing Finance=False
    (App)Bing News=False
    (App)Bing Sports=False
    (App)Chkdsk File Fragments=True
    (App)Clipboard=False
    (App)Cookies=True
    (App)Custom Folders=True

  16. Did you check if the tray icon was there BEFORE you restored the .ini file?

Just looking back up this thread there is a setting that we seem to have overlooked, and which could also explain why there's an icon in the system tray that disappears when you open CCleaner.
But it has to be used in a very particular way:- It only puts an icon in the system tray if you 'minimise' CCleaner rather than closing it, and only disappears again if you open CCleaner from that icon itself.

(It's a legacy setting used / left over from older Windows versions, nowadays you would usually 'Pin' CCleaner to the taskbar instead).

Is this option checked on the problem machine?
