  1. It doesn't touch mine! Updated to November 22 (from 21), deleted the sandbox, ran CC, ran CC sandboxed, checked AbP, all filters were the same including 11/22 tag . Next, opened Ff "not" sandboxed, all filters were tagged 11/22 (I have SB set up to save filter updates out of the sandbox), ran CC, checked again and all filters were still in place!
  2. That is how I've scheduled it also. Shane is a great guy and will help with anything. The belief that "all" mem optimizers just move "bites" to the page file is not necessarily true. A case in point is if you run the program RAM Def XT you'll discover that if even lowers or releases virtual memory. Another program that works is MemInfo, which I keep in the notification bar to observe mem usage, however, it has a defrager also that does not move anything to the page file, although I never use any of these programs since the release of CleanMem!
  3. So I'm confused! I noticed a Ff 2 release a few days ago at MajorGeeks I believe. What is Ff 3.0.3 that I'm using relative to 2.0.0.18? Thank You!
  4. For Firefox users, the easiest and most efficient way (and I've tried/used many mentioned in this thread) is to just use the extension Screen grab! 0.95! I can't even differentiate mem usage between enabled or disabled. Captures defined areas and whole (scrolled) web pages. http://www.screengrab.org/
  5. I'm the one who should be apologizing for not specifically mentioning that with WP you can indeed delay start apps.
  6. So I just rebooted my XP desktop and ran CC - only 35kb. I guess my point is, is this a Vista phenomenon or just my Vista? Thank You!
  7. If I clean with CCleaner (or any cleaning app), reboot and run CCleaner immediately it will find 16 to 20mb of files everytime!
  8. Trying another disk cleaner. I realize the Google Earth one might just remove a saved location but not sure about the others. Thank You!
  9. 40 miles SE of Lake Erie so we get snow almost everyday for several months. Sometimes the gulf storms track toward us and if a northeaster is really huge we'll get some on the back side from that. 120"/year would be considered very light!
  10. Can anyone explain these error messages? I receive them while moving from one photo to the next via the MSN website, sandboxed or not. "Object expected" with IE and "not defined" with firefox. Thank You!
  11. I believe I've seen posts here requesting free driver updates. Up until now I was never able to find any. It was a real drag having XP search for them and more often than not it came back empty, despite the fact the commercial apps that scan then pay to download always listed many. This program found about a dozen on this 4+ yr old dell. I did them all and it still works! lol After you select a driver it will list a choice of sites to download the file from with the number of downloads from the site and the success percentage. You have to register and accept their news letter but can unsubscribe. Enter an email addy (web) you rarely use. After you use the program disable its auto start with CCleaner. http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/
  12. Thank you, that did it! I'm sure that setting used to nag me if I wanted it when I closed the session. Believe it or not I only want the MS Clean Center and a speed testing site that works better with IE tabbed.
  13. So where is the Links Bar? I don't see it. Thank You! So I just enabled it but still don't see it!
  14. When IE opens, is there a way to have several sites already tabbed, e.g. similar to Firefox's Bookmarks Toolbar? A long time ago I had it set to do that but every time I closed a session there was a nag about whether I wanted to do it. I would/could never leave Firefox, however, for the few occasions I go over to IE for, I'd love to have the things I use it for ready to go.
  15. I agree! Takes at least five minutes, however, I'm not aware of any other means. After I run the uninstallers I usually find program files, data files and of course the reg keys.
  16. This is how I uninstall. I think it's thorough and so far it has been safe. I try to remember to analyze the installation with ZSoft. Sometimes I'm having so much fun I forget and then use Revo. Next I open Jouni Vuorio's RegCleaner and it might, might not, list an entry or two for the uninstalled program. They are in alphabetical order, although recent entries will be first and labeled "New". It seems so safe (this could get me in trouble) that I never even check, even deleting the backups. Now even though it may only list one or two, I believe that is just a reference to (?) many and not actually one entry. It's just to much of a coincidence to only have one or two left after an uninstall every time. Next I use RegSeeker and search with the applications name and always find a half dozen or more. I often do save these backups because it's so aggressive, but as long as I see the name of the program listed I delete the entry. Sometimes it will list a few entries after a search that do not have the actual name of the program so I leave them alone. I also search My Computer>C>Program Files and delete all, sometimes relying on Unlocker. Then run %AppData% and remove all I find in both user's name and all users. There are probably some other tricks I'm not aware of like maybe searching System32 files but haven't attempted a look around there.
  17. Thank you for that! At the risk of messing up a perfectly functioning Weather Pulse I did update the build and all is fine. I would have never realized there was an update since I always disable apps from checking.
  18. So I can boot my desktop via my notebook with a "Wake On LAN" utility. I've only been able to test it through a VPN, so I'm still not sure it is working because I'm still "within" my home network. Do you think going through the VPN is a legitimate test? Thank You!
  19. So I set this up and tested it. Quite amazing, it is! There I was viewing (and controlling) my desktop from my notebook. Besides the program itself, I was also amazed that other than having to "allow" and the popups the firewalls generate, there were no issues with them or my router and that the connection is instantaneous. They must have huge servers. You install the "Full Version" on the PC you are going to be using in the remote sessions. You install the "TeamViewer Host" on the PC you want to control or repair or whatever. The host service is set to start auto so until you need it you may want to set it to manual on your sons PC. Have fun with it!
  20. Thanks Dennis! So here is my plan: Using this little app I'll check in on the desktop via my notebook when I travel to the childrens homes. I haven't tested it yet but I'm assuming I might not be able to wake the desktop remotely. If I can't I'll just access it after scheduled wake ups with the app you linked. I'm sure I can put it back to Stand By. This way the pc won't be constantly running while away! http://www.teamviewer.com/index.aspx
