How do you back up settings and everything?? I want to do it in case I end up deciding to wait for FF3 - what I mean is if I download and install it, then decide I don't want it, and want FF2. Thanks AJ

Maximum PC has recommended the Tomato Firmware on at least 2 occasions now. I would try it, but my router is newer than the supported versions. It goes up to 4 and I have either 5 or 6. AJ

After fixing my other problem, I found something else I liked.

Andavari you are a genius. The image was 1600 by 1200, and I had it on stretch. It was good with icons on, but it messed up when it took them off. I went to the file in Paint.Net, opened a second canvas that was 1280 by 1024, copy and shrunk the image, applied it, took icons off, and NO PROBLEMS!!! WOOT!! Thanks guys for all your help! No icons ftw!!! AJ

I tried adjusting and resetting that..still no difference...hmmm. I'll try some other things to see if I can solve it. AJ

Woot! Linksys! I have one of the Wireless G with Speedbooster, and have never had a problem. Well, I only have 2 PC's hardwired and my Wii is connected wirelessly, but it connects all the way down in our basement/playroom and is fine. AJ

Good: Bad: Look towards the left side of the hood, where it is like...banding issues. And the wheels are a lot less detailed. I did try refresh...and the computer has been off. AJ

HOLD ON!!!!! Do you mean all of his interface addons? If he just installed the game, he has to redownload all his addons to your computer. The addons aren't saved to you account, they're saved you your PC...in a folder locations similar to this. -->C: Drive/ Program Files/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons They are all downloaded to there. He would have to copy the files in that folder and send it to you. Then he would have to log on, and select the addons he wants enabled. I have experience because my friends and my brother play, and sometimes my friend will have to go out and download one that he has but we don't. AJ

I'm trying to go for a no icon desktop. However, when I selected the option, I noticed about 2 minutes later that my background became....crappy. If you look in the June Desktop topic, my Audi R8 gets all these lines going through it. When I turned the icons back on, everything was good. I tried switching to another picture and back, and the same thing happened. I have no idea what is going on. Any suggestions??? AJ

I will try to sum this up in general for you. Most people are buying quad cores today because they are future-proofing themselves for new applications. Down the road, as applications become multi-threaded, they will be able to take advantage of the multiple cores. And, for general multitasking, you'll be able to do more with more cores, even if the applications are single threaded. So, to respond to your questions in order. 1) A non-gamer would find improvement in using the quad core if they did things like media encoding, photo editing, and movie production. Photoshop and other similar products are encoded to take advantage of multiple cores. 2) It is not always preferable, but that idea is slowly going away. Faster clocked dual cores will beat out slower clocked quad cores in single threaded applications, but the idea of future proofing yourself is taking hold of everyone. 3) Bus speed and L2 cache are hard to compare in different processors when they have a different amount of cores. However, when comparing quad cores, it does. The older Q6600 is slower compared to the new Q9300, and they have comparable specs. Q6600 (Conroe based) 2.4 GHz 1,066MHz FSB 65nm process 8MB of L2 Cache Q9300 (Penryn based) 2.5 GHz 1,333 MHz FSB 45nm Process 6MB of L2 Cache MaximumPC reviewed the two against each other, and they liked the newer Q9300 more.They compared them in 5 different categories; price, specs, compatibility, overclocking and performance. The Q6600 won price and compatibility, the Q9300 took the other three. In the specs, the slightly lesser amount of L2 cache doesn't really hurt the faster clocked Q9300. 4) Tom's Hardware CPU Comparison. Click here to choose benchmarks and CPU's to compare. If you wanted to build a machine for about a $1000, the Q6600 is going for $200 on TigerDirect.com, which is a steal, considering how overclockable the chip is. If you wanted to build a system with a Q9300, you could eventually throw in a higher clocked 45nm part, like a QX9770. Or, wait till the new Nehalem based parts from Intel come later this year/early next year. So my advice? Buy a quad core, 2 GB of RAM, a good motherboard, harddrive, graphics card, and case and you won't be disappointed. Hope this helps. AJ

Outside of the Update feature, nothing is reporting back. Then again, my Send/Receive lights on my modem will blink sometimes, even if I'm not online. This could be happening and you just have never noticed it before. AJ

That's why I'll upgrade when its stable. My biggest issue with it is the memory leak that's plagued it. Hopefully they've finally tracked it down and fixed it. AJ
