  1. Help me, i'm desperate!!!

I reinstalled my computer this night and i installed the newest version of this extraordinary program i use for months now but it sais "run time error '0'" and won't load!!! Just little before i wanted to uninstall Registry Mechanic program and it asked me if i want to delete some .dll file i think and it warned me that there might be some other programs connected with it and i press YES TO ALL accidentally, i don't know if that related with the problem but i think it is!

Please help me how to get it work!!!

I can't live without this program!!!

    Hello and Welcom Ogi! :)

What program, and what OS? My guess is that you haven't updated everything yet, and I don't mean MS Updates. I mean after reinstalling you need to re-update all of your drivers, VB, DirextX, .NET Framework, etc... Have you done all of this already?

    As an added percausion

    * start > search > (type) MSCOMCTL.OCX - and under Advanced Options check 'Search System Folders', 'Search Hidden Files', and 'Search Subfolders'. Now search.

    * If MSCOMCTL.OCX is there nevermind. If it isn't let me know.

  2. I considered that. However, even with my screen resolution set to 1024x768, you cannot get all of the column information even when adjusting column widths.

Yeah, I thought of that too. It will probably take a few screen shots to get all of the information. I just can't think of a better way to do it.

  3. When it does happen, if you keep running CCleaner over-and-over does it keep cleaning more stuff?

Also, some things (applications) don't get cleaned if they're opened. Is anything open that CCleaner want to clean when this happens?

  4. Can a button be added that would allow you to get a report after the Analyze is completed. A lot of times, I would like to print a report out to see what I should Select/DeSelect (Issues) or what is going to happen (Others).

I also have gotten others to use CCleaner ... but they don't have the knowledge of Windows like I do. They could e-mail me the report and I could annotate it and send it back to them so they would have a record of what to do.

I tried using the Yes to Backup, but if you do not continue on to fix the issues, the .reg file has nothing except the Registry Version header.

It would also be nice if the report could be given in an HTML format. This could be setup in the Options features for what default to use when creating reports.

The screen is just to small to see the entire entry.

An HTML report could be generated using a Table showing all information.

A text report could show each entry as a multi-line group.

Maybe MrG will do that in the next version. But until then you can use "Print Scrn" to have a copy of the log.

  5. The other reason I laughed is because I figure if XP commits suicide it will take me with it.

lMAO - That's for sure Mike! I think that that the suicide analogy is hilarious

  6. If you need a DVD drive right at this very moment and can't wait I'd suggest going with a DVD Reader Writer drive because the prices are relatively good, either shop locally or online.

I would however go with a drive that supports writing of both + and - discs; DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW hence you won't be stuck with just using one of the two. If you get a drive that supports writing of both + and - you're drive won't be disc format handicapped from the get-go.

    Can I get a DVD+RW/DVD-RW combo? (do they exist ;) )

If you can however wait, wait for the next incarnation of DVD that will have allot more capacity, etc., however the price will be the deciding factor when they are released as they'll most likely be expensive.

How long would I be waiting for the next DVD? What's the ballpark figure of expensive? Thanks for the feedback!

  7. Nope, definite lack of DVDage. :(

The only reason it says DVD/CD-ROM drives is because that is the category. It doesn't actually mean that you have a DVD drive, it just means that if you did, that is where it would go. So a-shopping you must go!

I love a good reason to shop! :D

And no better way to learn than fiddling! I fiddled several computers to death before I figured out what not to do to a computer.

I'm trying not to learn the hard way. So far I have only fiddled with help/assistance/supervision. Yeah, all of the above. ;) So far I've practiced taking things apart, and putting back together. But I haven't explored what the things actually ARE yet. :)

    Baby Steps

    Thanks again lokoike. It's 2:35am. I'm out~

  8. There's a new link. Sorry the first one was defective, had to edit. Now it works! :D

You listed that your drives were "LG CD-RW CED-8083B", and a "MATSHITA CD-ROM CR-594", so unless you can find "DVD" listed somewhere else, they won't be DVD compatible.

That's not what I wanted to hear.... ;)

You mean you have PATA drives, or your motherboard supports only PATA, or both? I'm assuming both, as you said it is an old mobo, and SATA drives are (fairly) new.

Regardless, your old PATA drives will work fine in a new system, as well as more PATA drives, or even SATA drives, if you choose to get those instead.

I only know that I have the PATA cable. It's hard to miss. I've fiddled around in my tower a little, but only know a little.

  9. You listed that your drives were "LG CD-RW CED-8083B", and a "MATSHITA CD-ROM CR-594", so unless you can find "DVD" listed somewhere else, they won't be DVD compatible.

I don't think that they are DVD compatible. I just want them to be. :D You look.

    hardware3ck.th.jpg

Sorry, I love my acronyms! :D Acronyms FTW!

I have PATA in this computer.

  10. If you have a combo drive, it will show up as CD-RW/DVD-ROM, which means it can read/write CDs, but only read DVDs.

hmmm So I should be able to read DVDs?

EDIT: The only thing you will have to worry about when it comes to getting a new drive for your new mobo is what interface it will use. Most new mobos support both Parallel ATA and Serial ATA interfaces, so you simply need to pick a drive that is either PATA or SATA. PATA is an older, slower, less expensive format, while SATA is a newer, faster, and more expensive interface. Since your mobo will support both, the only thing you will pay more for is the drive itself.

Also, you can have both PATA and SATA drives going at the same time, so if you want to keep your old PATA drives, and still install a shiny new SATA drive, you can do that. Although there is the possibility that your PATAs might get jealous and rebel...

    Wh..hwhaha.w.. wha? *confused* (Zaphire quote)

PATA/SATA - You're speaking gibberish for gods sake!

I'll look it up. Thanks again.

  11. Okay, you answered another question that I had. The Device Type of each drive says "DVD/CD-ROM drives" which was confusing me.

Can I keep the cdrom drive that I have now, and just add a DVD-RW drive? hmmm Am I getting out of control now? :o

I'll check out your link now. Thanks for your help! :D

  12. What other questions do you have?

Sorry I was getting to that, but replied to a PM first. First of all, I am dying because I didn't know what ROM stood for (or maybe I forgot). lMAO FYI: I truly am a n00b...just started learning about computers about 4 months ago (I know nothing about hardware) so please don't assume that I know too much in this thread. ;)

So DVD-ROM replaces CD-ROM, and acts the same but with more features/functions?

Since I have 2 trays do I need to buy 2 DVD-ROMs? Maybe one -R, and the other -RW or both -RW for that matter.

Which DVD formats are the best in your opinion, and why? :P

[Edit] One more thing. I'm planning on buying a new mobo soon, so do I need to worry about compatibility, or should /can I buy one with a DVD... installed already? I'm not sure how that would effect the cost.

  13. I have too many questions so I'm bringing the PM discussion to the board. :)

Question for me: Back to the DVD thing. I have a "LG CD-RW CED-8083B", and a "MATSHITA CD-ROM CR-594". Do I need a totally new cdrom, and if so how do I choose one? Will it automatically support 2 drives (so that I can use both trays)?

There was one other thing that you said needed to be purchased, but I don't remember what is was...help please?

    Yes, I'm a n00b...no problems admitting it!

Sadly, you do need to purchase a new drive if you want to view/burn your own DVDs. Any drive that says "CD-RW" can read CD-ROMs, as well as both read and write CD-Rs and CD-RWs. But any drive that just says "CD-ROM", or "DVD-ROM" can only read disks, and not burn them. ROM = Read Only Memory.

Your LG CD-RW drive can read and burn CDs, and your MATSHITA CD-ROM drive can only read CDs, but not burn them. Neither of these drives can read/write DVDs.

So, to watch a Video DVD or view the files on a DVD-ROM, you would need a DVD-ROM drive. If you want to burn your own movies or backup files onto a DVD-R/DVD-RW, you would need a DVD-RW drive.

There are also other DVD formats, such as DVD-RAM, DVD+R, DVD+RW, etc. If you want, I can explain those to you too, but I didn't want to make this PM too miserably long!

  14. Hmm, now I have to decide then, do I listen to her or you?

I think the female wins. :)

Now I am just as guilty of hijacking this thread.

@lokoike - nice try buddie, but I win :D CapMan knows who the trouble maker is around here ;).

O gee, way to stick up for me there, Cappy boy.

O, what's this? A PM from CaPMan? Saying that K is a total n00b with a lame avatar? Ooo, I better not let her know how he really feels about her! *hush hush*

heh, that should keep her off my back for a while

lokoike rubs his hands together with glee at his brilliant idea

Trouble....maker (hmmmmm brilliant is a little optimistic don't you think?)

  15. exactly 76% or a little bit less than, or a little bit more than? and how did you figure it out. exactly.

    oh, and thanks babe. :)

    You're silly... ;)

    This is what you do:

    1. Divide 26.5 by 35. (visual 26.5/35)

    2. The result is 0.7571......

    3. You multipy the result by 100. (visual 0.7571 X 100)

    3. The result is 75.71%.

    4. Because the answer is equal to or greater than 75.5 the answer gets rounded up to 76%!

    You're welcome babe. :)

  16. Hello Everyone,

This is my first post to the forum and I?d just like to acknowledge and give a Tip of the Hat to Mr. ?G? for making such a great program. It?s a first class cleaner of choice in my book! :)

I?ve been using CCleaner before version 1.10 was released but this is when I started making backup copies of the program just to have. I?ve never had ONE issue with Crap Cleaner until now and it?s a weird one.

I downloaded version 1.27 from Major Geek?s site. Once installed on both my XP machine and my old Win 98 back up machine I noticed that ?sometimes? in the ?Issues? window the check boxes do not always appear that are directly under ?Progress? on the very top and under it ?Problems? is shown! The next time you open it they?ll be there and maybe two more times and then not. There is no set way to make this happen. You can?t simply highlight the line either as it tries to fix ALL issues then.

I went back to version 1.26 with NO problems on either machine as I also tried a clean install with a download of 1.27 from CClean.com site with the same results. Can anyone please help??

    Thanks very much, jlt50z

You may need to update your VisualBasics. You can download here.

  17. Ah, most splendid! You are the shiz, CaPMan, and don't let krit86lr tell you any different!

I luuuvvv Capman. :) He has been my hero on 2 occassions now. CapMan don't let Lokoike rattle you. And how did I become apart of this thread? <_< Did I miss something?

Well supposedly I'm her "Rock Star", but that didn't stop her from insinuating that I like country music*, so there is no telling what sorts of terrible things she will say about you in the future!

    She's just a sneaky lil' booger. :P

    * and yes, K, I am still salty about that, and will probably continue to be so until the end of time, so don't even try to redeem yourself

 I remember posting that, but I don't remember what thread it was in.

You can come out of the closet Lokoike. We'll still respect you. ;)

So what's your favourites, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers?

*capman wonders if they are Country & Western singers, he thinks so*

I always thought krit seemed like a cute thing with knowledge.

That should stop her being horrible to me.

When, and why would I be horrible to you??? You don't need to sugar me up (although it never hurts)! :D

 Okay, this is what I want you to do.

    1. Uninstall CCleaner.

    2. Reboot your computer.

    3. Download CCleaner here, and choose the "slim build". (If you need multiple languages...choose the basic build).

    4. Install CCleaner.

    5. (Now reboot in Safe Mode) Reboot, and when your computer starts rebooting begin tapping the F8 key over-and-over until you get a boot options list. Use your arrow keys to choose safe mode and hit enter.

Let us know if this worked. :)
