  1. I would like to remind people that the most serious breach of forum ettiquette is questioning or criticizing another member's IP or the speed of their internet access !

Mike knows this is actually NOT considered a breach of ettiquette, but he lives in constant fear that Andavari will get a DSL or broadband connection leaving Mike the only one on the forum (and most likely the world) with dial-up.

I AM PROUD OF MY DIAL-UP CONNECTION!

    No I'm not.

Sorry Mike...I was only joking..... :(

?Est?s mi amigo, s?? :D ?Usted todav?a me est? llevando a la playa, s??

[Edit: Did you see what I typed the first time? LOL]

  2. A stupid joke that just popped into my head out of nowhere:

Cat Neighbor: Sir your dog ate my cat!

Dog Neighbor: Hmm, yeah, interesting, you know if you'd have gotten a dog instead of a cat they would've been in that bush over there enjoyin' themselves.

    Cat Neighbor: Say what?

    Say whawhawha....what?!?

  3. It happens to me at least everyday here on the CCleaner Forums and the Hydrogenaudio Forums, at first I thought it was ISP related but I'm on dial-up and logging off and back on to get a new IP address don't fix anything, however strangely enough rebooting sometimes works yet then again it sometimes doesn't. Blame Windows? maybe maybe not, also I'm starting to wonder if it just isn't Invision Power Board, or a firewall the forums "may" be using.

I think it's IPB because Tarun got something about a month ago that really spead things up at lunarsoft. Maybe I'll hunt down that link. The Geeks don't stall, but I don't think that they use IPB.

Andavari, why in "my goodness gracious" are you using dial-up? (unless it's really cheap of course) :P

  4. LOL, maybe if they're stoned gremlins!

After all, it is a drug-sniffing dog, right? :P

Ooops! I didn't think about that part. :P

    Ha, ha couldn't resist.

    * 1972 Gremlin

    * Gizmo

Gizmo....that little guy used to scare the crap out of me when I was little. But know he looks kinda cute. :D Maybe I'll keep my grimlins after all? NOT -

  5. @ krit86lr

I'm in a stupid silly mood tonight so I was just kidding. :P

By the way I just turned on images in Opera and noticed your avatar, it looks cool!

Thanks! I'm all about Deviant Art right now. You should go look at my desktop. So much fun after all of that hell to get it there. (remember?)

    PS - Glad you were j/k :P

PSS - Hijacked thread again. Sorry.

  6. I downloaded it and will keep a version of it handy just in case, which is allot easier than creating a new Admin profile to extract registry keys from.

The only thing is things listed on the page that K linked to that have "* Denotes only available for the licensed version." won't be able to be fixed using the free version.

I'm not sure what that means. But it says this too.

Note: The clickable listings are for the individual downloads in lieu of.

I suppose I have a lot of reading to do. I think that it might be referring to "Taskbar Repair Tool Plus!", but I'm not positive. Thanks for pointing that out Andavari. Good eye.. ;)

  7. Well the only thing I can say is don't allow CCleaner to clean your version of Office. I do know that the Microsoft Office Publisher 97 entry found in the winapp2.ini entry is safe and only removes recent documents, hence I submitted it.

Thanks for that follow-up. I skimmed through and saw it in there, but I couldn't test it. So just gave the link.

    Stop complaining,

Seriously? I didn't think that anyone was complaining.

Are you kidding? If so.... :P hehe

  8. User ID and validation key for this forum. The e-mail was signed "The CCleaner Forums team".

I don't remember ever getting that. Guess that I did? Good thing you were here Glenn. I would have given very bad advice. :o

  9. The only time I seem to have that problem is when there are a lot of people on at the same time, but when it happens, it is miserable!

Course, I know next to nothing about web programming and such, so I don't know if something like that could cause a bottleneck, or if it is just in my head... :P

There were only 3 people on the forum when it happened. :( But maybe there were a lot of guests. I don't ever pay attention to that. ;)

  10. Nice catch K :)

I wonder if that meant there was a Classic Shell or a similar policy enabled  It's great to know Kelly's VB script fixes the problem incase we see it again.

My guess is that it's a policy issue. A lot (about 3) of MS updates have been screwing up policy issues over the last few months.

It's nice to know that this fixes it, but I still want to know what the actual fix is. That is, what is being changed to fix the problem?

Maybe it's readable. I didn't download it myself. I'll take a look. My curiosity is not yet satisfied. :P I am going to email kelly and see what I can find out too.

  11. grimlins!

    They're everywhere!!!

Happens quite often krit, I just give up on it when it does.

Thanks, I finally did give up. ;)

Now it's working again for some reason. Has this been addressed before? That was the first time that it happened to me, but I was not cool. I rewrote a very long PM 2 times and it never went anywhere. Waste of my time.

(Gosh, I am sounding a bit cranky, huh?) I will stop now.

  12. Problem fixed. ;)

    Special thanks to krislr16.

Who? Was that my display name? Because it shouldn't be.

Do I have more grimlins?? MP - get my grimlins! Maybe your dog can get them. ;)

  13. What is wrong with the forum? It's taking almost a full minutes to load a screen. I can't send PM's because it can't load fast enough. It's only this site that it's happening with.

    It's annoying! grrrr

  14. They sent me a 4-digit User ID and a 32-character Validation Key (but mine appeared to be hexadecimal, i.e., no alpha past "f").

I'm sorry, but I am very confused. A validation key for what? (CCleaner???)

<_< I just want to know what you guys are talking about. (nosy) ;)

    Who is "they"?

  15. nope. a lot of times if wallpapers don't have a "Download to Desktop" button, you can click "Zoom In" to get a better picture. after that, right click and save it.

Thanks, got it now. There are sooooo many cool ones. They have the best pictures that I've seen anywhere.

  16. you used a BricoPack didn't you :P.

also, here's my desktop. it's the same as before but with diffrent Dock icons.

    desktop5hv.th.jpg

I used 4 things. It's the Bricko pack theme, and crystal dlb 2 theme mixed together. I only liked certain thing about each of them, and now I have only the things that I want. Plus iColorfolder, and Deviant Art Wallpaper.

Now I love it! Thanks. :D

  17. Andavari,

    You're a life-saver.

    Thank you so much.

As Iam writing this message, I already installed the file with ease & success from the link you provided.

I am very thankful again as you've spared me a whole lot of frustration & the risk of screwing up big time :D

trust me info like tis is the least of my worries when it comes to sparing me headaches.

Thx again for your initiative to help :)

 Don't I know it! When my computer freaks out, I automatically freak out too! :D

    Glad you got it fixed!

  18. You heard about OpenOffice?

It is a free, open source office suite that supports the OpenDocument format among many other formats.

    http://www.openoffice.org

    You are sooo funny.

In your signature you should just put something like: "Convert to the best software: (Then the links)". It would save you lots of typing. ;) You could also add in your signature "Remove these programs if you're using them: (Then list the software)". :P

  19. Not a bad idea, Andavari. :)

@wxmanrocks, remember to be logged in as Administrator when doing these suggestions. After following Andavari's suggestion, if you're still having the problem, try this.

    * start > search > (type) MSCOMCTL.OCX - and under Advanced Options check 'Search System Folders', 'Search Hidden Files', and 'Search Subfolders'. Now search.

    * If it is there type "REGSVR32 MSCOMCTL.OCX" (no quotes) in the run box and click okay. Reboot after registering it, and if you're not the administrator of the computer you won't be able to fix any of these problems (FYI).

    * MSCOMCTL.OCX is a Microsoft Library that can become unregistered when installing and uninstalling a lot of software.

If it's missing let me know, and I'll tell you how to get it again. :D

Sometime certain Microsoft Libraries can become unregistered when installing and uninstalling a lot of software. One very common problem is the MSCOMCTL.OCX.

  20. Thx for replying,

I've tried what you said but w/ the same result. Unchecked the "check for sigs". My custom level is medium which is the default.

As for the possibility of this problem being related to my AV I don't know. I also do not use WD.

    This is mind boggling.

For sure it has to do w/ the security /active X control as this is the message I keep getting.

Hopefully & eventually someone will help its figuring it out.

Thx to both of you guys.

I'm still going to keep trying though.

Look in your control panel for .NET Framework. Is it there? If so, which version?

    What antivirus are you using?

What internet browser are you using?

Remember that the more information that you give, the easier it is to nail the problem. ;) Don't worry about giving too much information, only worry about not giving enough information. K? :D

  21. ISUSPM Startup

    "C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\InstallShield\UpdateService\isuspm.exe" -startup

    ISUSScheduler

    "C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start

seems they are in relationship with Installshield

    Hi klumy,
