  1. Hang tight. I PMd a few people to take a look. I'm not familiar with that sort of error. When you did a chkdsk /r....did you put a space between the k and /?
  2. Well that doesn't really give enough information about what's wrong with ccleaner, although I see that you had another application hang with notepad as well. You do have a bad block so you may want to do a chkdsk /r on your hard drive. As for ccleaner the only thing I can think to try next is to uninstall then reinstall it, but disable it in Safe Mode and see if that helps. @ Andavari...Do you think that hivecleanup application would help with this type of situation?
  3. I don't know yet, but I'll look it up on MS's website and see if anything comes up. Sorry, I forgot. What does the description say? It should tell you which application is hanging.
  4. My email situation has changed over a few months. Now I use my hotmail as my junk email account (e.g. when I sign up for things.). My gmail is my regular account. Then I have my university account that I have to use too. I actually have 2 gmail accounts. My gmails and university email are forwarded to my phone as text messeges so that I receive those right away, so I don't need Outlook or Thunderbird anymore.
  5. Could you go to Control Panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer > Application Errors & System Errors Look at the time of errors, and see if there were any errors listed when you received the oxoooooo6 error. You could just run CCleaner again right now, then check event viewer right away so see if anything shows up. If there are errors recorded at the same time that you received this error could you post all of the information? Thanks.
  6. I agree with Andavari. I found some info about this error which points to a corrupted Services.exe file. Using Dial-a-fix go to Tools, and use the "sfc" function. Have your installation cd ready, this will replace any corrupted system files with fresh copies. That's what I would do first.
  7. This is still a concern, but I don't know where Tarq57 got this information either. As for NetZero, that very well may be your freezing problem. Will you be switched soon?
  8. The storm that pushed through the U.S. really got a lot of people. Texas even got snow! Can you imagine snow in the desert? Anyway, the storm caused ~400,000 people here to be out of power and heat. It really sucks because the windshield is 7. Glad you're just snowed in Andavari. Enjoy being forced to relax! hehe
  9. Thanksgiving sets off what we call the "Holiday Season". They are all so close together. Thanksgiving, St. Nicks, Christmas, and New Year's! Most people had 2 days off (4 day weekend) for Thanksgiving, a lot of people will have 5 days off through christmas, and 2 days off for New Years!
  10. Good! Just put the floppy in, then double-click the .exe file that you downloaded. It will create your floppy for you!
  11. Well the your comp probably won't freeze while running the test becuase it will run off of the floppy rather than your computer running it. You just need to access the link, download, then create the floppy with the downloaded file. Don't know if that's possible though if it's freezing that much. Maybe your wife can download it at work for you maybe?
  12. Does Event Viewer show anything at the time you experience the error? Also, what is your OS?
  13. Yep, if the memtest doesn't show any errors then maybe one or more stick is incompatible assuming more mem was added by the user. @ Cowboy....Did you add more memory to your computer?

Isn't it true that malware that is 1+ years old isn't active anymore anyway? I think Andy, or maybe Tarun told me that...I'm not sure. My point is that if that's true then it isn't even cleaning anything that is still a threat. Is that right?

I personally don't think it's work keeping. Spybot checks for cool web searches, although I don't know if they check for the same ones.
  16. Thanks! My Thanksgiving Meal's (that's plural) went to my %#$ too...gotta run a few extra miles here and there now.
  17. I just wanted to say... HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!
  18. Well it's impossible that you have run every test possible. The memtest checks your actual hardware, and you have to create a floppy to run the test and the test should run anywhere from 2-8 hours, preferably 8 hours. But I can appreciate the fact that you have ran lots of tests and feels like all of them. Glad it's not freezing! Hope it stays that way. Glad to see you are still on the forum Cowboy.
  19. hehe Is it possible that the change occurred after a MS update? A shot in the dark.
  20. Sorry to butt in here, I know I've been MIA. But! I do think these are good questions. and the first thing to check. It seems that the RAM and CPU are okay, although the RAM could be increased....512MB is the minimum in my opinion. Cowboy my next suggestion is that you run a memtest on your memory cards to confirm that they aren't bad in any way. http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp One more thing? What is your pagefile set at?
  21. Yep. This solution is a pinned topic in this forum. Sorry it was so hard to find the solution. http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=1192

definitely way too little....I can't see it either
  23. Why don't you just wipe clean, and reformat? Maybe eraser will do the same thing.....good luck.
  24. Hi Everyone! Okay, so my stepdad sent me this link, and told me that he bought 3 of their computers this way. Have any of you bought a refurbished pc before? Some of the pc's seem to be really good deals, and just skimming through I noticed some as low as $300. I think that they just don't come with monitors which really doesn't matter to me.
  25. Woodyl I hope you are kidding.
