Plain black doesn't go well with an optical mouse since black doesn't reflect much light.
Try moving your move on a sheet of white paper and see if jumps about still.

Just out of curiosity what kind of mouse mat are you using is it black fabric or does it have a image on it??
Optical mice can jump about when the reflective path isn't consistent or strong enough, therefore test it on white paper.
Also if it's using a USB interface you might want to consider using a USB(in) to PS/2(out) adapter since the PS/2 interface is more reliable when the USB controller is under load.

Is it an optical or roller-ball type mouse??

If Windows doesn't detect a valid partition then it would assume the drive is empty and needs formatting.
Before you carry on with Recuva I would suggest you first try TestDisk as mentioned in this post.

It doesn't matter what version of Windows you use if an application has a handle opened on a device then the device cannot be unmounted.
You can force remove handles using software i.e. Process Explorer or Unlocker but idealy Defraggler should have it's own option for disconnecting from removable media or close handles on all devices except the drive it's defragging.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about because even if geolocation was disabled servers can still find your location.
With the exception of proxy servers your IP address would always be exposed during any form of network communication.
Your IP belongs to a netblock which is owned by your ISP a simple lookup or database check is all they need to pwn you.

Click on the "File list" tab to see what files are fragmented and what files are not.
Files stored in "C:\System Volume Information" are not accessible although still account for Defraggler's statistics.
Purge your System Restore points and then run Defraggler you might find your drive less fragmented.

Open ports are only a security issue on an Operating System if there are services bound to the ports that can be exploited.
If no such services exist then there are no such risks, anyone who says otherwise would be scare mongering.
Blocking open ports only prevents incoming network traffic that won't make your machine any safer since the majority of malware infections come from browser exploits or bad email attachments.

Delay-load dependent modules are not critical for executables to run and can be disregarded.
There's an explanation about MSJAVA.DLL in the FAQ http://www.dependencywalker.com/faq.html
Do you have any anti-virus / anti-malware security software installed on your machine??

Perhaps there's a bad spot on the hard drive, bad or nearly bad sectors can cause application hanging.
Check Event Viewer for "Disk" events (eventvwr.exe) as well as running "chdsk.exe /r"

Just to clarify something, you're experiencing delays while loading Defraggler or delays loading other applications??

I think the drive map is buggy, I reported a similar problem a few weeks ago regarding Defraggler drawing red blocks that don't exist.
Restart Defraggler and re-analyse your hard drive again.

In 32 bit Operating Systems the CPU can only address up to a total of 4GB of RAM, however the top of this address space is reserved for your graphics card and PCI I/O space so you never get the full 4GB to use.
You need a 64 bit Operating System and a BIOS capable of hardware address remapping to use 4GB RAM or more.

Run speccy and post debug data: - "C:\Program Files\Speccy\speccy.exe" /debug (including quotes)

Try it.

and like all linux distros I have no audio.
Try running the ALSA Sound Wizard to setup your sound card, if that doesn't work then buy a USB audio device like this one from Amazon based on the CM108 chipset.

Not all files recovered are 100% error free it really pot luck sometimes.
Since VT Transaction cannot open your file I can only assume it's damaged.

Why do I need to re-associate file extensions when double click opens the application they were designed for??
Currently I have a total of 259 unused file extensions but my old copy of a rival cleaning program says I have none.
CCleaner should only be detecting and removing file extensions that cause errors when you run them, but evidently not.
A bug perhaps??

Frank, are you trying to recover lost applications or just curious about opening executables??
Executables are not like media files i.e. photos, video, audio in which you can double click and they appear on the desktop.
They usually require other files to load into memory for them to work i.e. data files, DLL (dynamic link libraries) etc.
Furthermore it's highly likely that recovered deleted executables contain errors and thus any attempt to run them would crash.

Unused file extensions not unused?
in CCleaner
Posted
I just downloaded and tried CCleaner v3.04.1389 today, rather unsurprisingly the excessive false positive detection for unused file types still exist in this version too.
Are Piriform coders aware of this problem and going to fix it??
As you can see CCleaner claims that the registry entry for .3gp2 does not launch any applications (which is my interpretation of unused).
However if you look at Nirsoft FileTypeMan it clearly shows that file type .3gp2 belongs to application VideoLan VLC.
