  1. I don't know. I think Piriform could make it as simple or as complex as they'd like, however: It would be interesting if it was available standalone via clicking a button to get into it, and if it were also combined as an option to enable or disable with the monitoring. That way there could also be automatic S.M.A.R.T. monitoring which could notify users of problems like overheating hard disks via a temperature monitor, and also display the temperature. Although I don't know what such a feature would do to the resource requirements of monitoring.
  2. Helps to sometimes toggle back and forth from the non-secure HTTP:// page, and the secure HTTPS:// page to see which one will work - surprisingly one might work for a moment when the other won't.
  3. You all can do what you want with it as in the naming convention, I just merely supplied the update for cleaning it.
  4. Include S.M.A.R.T. in CCleaner. Including it would give people a heads up if a hard disk is in bad condition, and if they should stress it using the Wipe Free Space feature, etc.
  5. The detect for Panda Cloud Antivirus, which it isn't called anymore, and it's not called Panda Free Antivirus anymore either it's now Panda Protection: And the winapp2.ini entry for it is outdated, here's an update: [Panda Protection (Other Logs)*] LangSecRef=3024 Detect=HKLM\Software\Panda Security Default=False FileKey1=%CommonAppData%\Panda Security\Panda Devices Agent\Logs|*.* FileKey2=%CommonAppData%\Panda Security\Panda Security Protection|*.log FileKey3=%CommonAppData%\Panda Security\PSLogs|*.log Edit: ...and since people don't like unnecessary warning= in the winapp2.ini file anymore and they get removed for whatever reason, here's additional info about the cleaner: Warning=Note: These are not the virus scanning logs and are completely safe to delete.
  6. It's possible to defrag only certain files or folders by using the included command line version: df.exe Basically you'd create a batch file (*.bat, *.cmd) of what you want df.exe to defrag, then you don't have to sit through a whole defrag of everything. See here: http://www.piriform.com/docs/defraggler/advanced-usage/command-line-parameters/
  7. Sort of an explanation here: http://grammar.yourdictionary.com/punctuation/how-to-use-brackets-in-grammar.html ----------- It has nothing to do with "professionalism". One entry I know of that's built into CCleaner has it: Cleaner > Windows > Windows Explorer: Run (in Start Menu)
  8. It does that all the time. Try to only download the Slim build setup file of CCleaner, that should make ESET happy (recommend bookmarking this link): http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds Edit: Slim build, and Portable versions don't include any 3rd party software; Google Chrome, toolbars, etc. What sets off antivirus are the included 3rd party software in the Normal build installer.
  9. New: [Alternate File Shredder (Archive Log)*] LangSecRef=3024 Default=False Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Alternate File Shredder_is1 FileKey1=%AppData%\Alternate\FileShredder|FileShredderLog_*.txt New: [Alternate File Shredder (Enable Log)*] LangSecRef=3024 Default=False Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Alternate File Shredder_is1 FileKey1=%AppData%\Alternate\FileShredder|FileShredderLog.txt
  10. I don't see any screenshot. Note: * To properly clean the registry you need to have Admin rights. * Some registry items you clean can come back if they're automatically created by a program that needs them. Edit: And to quote moderator Nergal's signature in regards to the registry cleaner:
  11. Another option so you don't have two installations of CCleaner: 1. Download CCleaner Portable. 2. Unzip it into its own unique directory, example: C:\CCleanerPortable 3. Open CCleaner Portable via: Start -> Run -> C:\CCleanerPortable\CCleaner.exe 4. Configure it to only clean Google Chrome, then close it. 5. Create a shortcut on the Desktop with this in it: "C:\CCleanerPortable\CCleaner.exe" /AUTO Name the shortcut accordingly, example: Clean Chrome with CCleaner
  12. Gave it a try in BleachBit 1.12 and it works!
  13. Fixing computers can be a pain, however at least you found a solution. 10 days without issue is a good sign. Just last night after restoring a Macrium Reflect image my USB mouse didn't work, the driver wouldn't load no matter what I did. Then I thought, I'll try something stupid simple by unplugging the USB mouse and plugging it back in and it worked. I like stupid simple solutions like that!
  14. See this page (it's the last paragraph with the information): http://www.piriform.com/docs/recuva/introducing-recuva/what-it-can-and-cant-do
  15. Evidently BleachBit doesn't understand ExcludeKey at all. I found out the hard way.
  16. At a glance, Windows XP has some of them. And they're needed because program installations can cause Windows to switch from using a user profile location for storage of the junk, or it can change it to the %windir% location.
  17. You could have a buggy program installed that's causing a memory leak - when that happens the usual cure is to reboot. Also see the Wikipedia page about memory leak.
  18. I still have my old Win98 tower PC. And just so login123 isn't alone, that old Win98 computer has Office 97 on it. The last time I plugged it in was in 2006. I'd use it offline if I had a spot for it but I don't. I only keep it if I I want to play the game Descent 3 since the game doesn't work correctly on my XP system. Something else an ancient PC would be good for offline is a jukebox for playing MP3s.
  19. I noticed that the other day, I couldn't figure out why when making 7-Zip backups of SRWare Iron Portable (a Chrome/Chromium clone) why it had grown so much until I used the tool built into the browser to clean everything. Maybe something to do with CCleaner 5.26.5937, because I didn't notice anything using the previous version 5.25.5902.
  20. It will remember your drive selections - although you might not if you run it again at a later date. Therefore I'd recommend each time you plan to use it make sure you've selected or de-selected the drives you want it to run on.
  21. Its probably Defraggler's defrag algorithm which makes it so slow, although it does consolidate/fill gaps very well at the cost of speed. Also the defrag tool in Win10 will only defrag files up to a certain file size: 64MB Supposedly there's a way around that by instead defragmenting via a command prompt although you will likely loose Restore Points doing so.
  22. I don't use any services per-say, however my installed anti-virus Panda Free Antivirus ("Panda Protection"), and anti-malware Zemana AntiMalware are always connected to the cloud.
  23. If you look at the OP's topic title what's in that topic has been tried. ---------------- Did you miss this link in that solution topic, where someone found out it was trying to install into an bad folder/path which is impossible, see here: https://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=46763&p=275147 Edit: Make sure you're logged into the forums so you can see his screenshot, otherwise the screenshot image will not display in the post.
  24. YUMI - MultiBoot USB Creator License: GPL Version 2 Runs On: Microsoft Windows Publisher: PendriveLinux Website: https://www.pendrivelinux.com Description: YUMI (Your Universal Multiboot Installer), is the successor to our MultibootISOs. It can be used to create a Multiboot Bootable USB Flash Drive containing multiple operating systems, antivirus utilities, disc cloning, diagnostic tools, and more. My thoughts: I used it to try out Ubuntu Linux from my USB Flash Drive, and it worked!
