  1. Microsoft Update is separate from Windows Update, and it's opt-in...just saying.
  2. Office 2007 SP2 and Office 2010 support PDFs.

    C:\?

It means Recuva couldn't find where they were previously
  4. This looks kinda dangerous. Backups from reg cleaners shouldn't be deleted =/
  5. "Run CCleaner" means "use the cleaner part silently". What you want is the "Open CCleaner" option.
  6. The standard build has a tiny installer that can install Chrome afterwards, not Chrome itself
  7. I don't see your point, redhawk. I think the opposite is better since defragging free space usually ends up in having a lot of fragmented files
  8. I guess something was added to WinXP, and DF 2.0 requires that something. Anyone knowing how to use a hex editor to try to bypass the warning ?
  9. Well, you agreed to use Microsoft Update, so they have the right to suggest Microsoft products. I got offered Windows Live Essentials 2011...
  10. Short answer: No. Long answer: These files have been partially overwritten by other files ; for example, a file with "Hello, World" inside might become "Hello, Wo928" because the last three letters have been overwritten by something that is not text. (that's a simplified example - it's a bit more complicated than that). Thus, they cannot be fully recovered.
  11. Silverlight is not really a Flash killer - it's meant for waaaaaay more than that (internal enterprise apps, for example).
  12. Using CCleaner...tick the "Cookies" box and the "Adobe Flash Player" one under Applications. This should work.
  13. If it's the Slim version, it won't ask you about Chrome. But it seems even the normal version can be made like the slim version
  14. Do you have Chrome installed? Were you offered Google Chrome or the Toolbar?
  15. Something interesting... The Registry key HKLM\Software\Google\No Chrome Offer Until\ contains a key "Piriform Ltd" and a YYYYMMDD date. I think setting the value to 20990101 should work... (or HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Google\No Chrome Offer Until\ on x64 Windows versions)
  16. CCleaner is free - the payment is for "premium support". The download links are at the bottom
  17. Yes, but WFS didn't have a warning about what it does other than "this will take a long time" (I added one in the French translation...).
  18. Did you tick "Wipe MFT Free Space" in CCleaner's Settings?
  19. I guess this is because CCleaner Enhancer wasn't updated to detect the 64-bit version of CCleaner. Since it is not an official Piriform product, you'll have to ask its author to update it.
  20. Did you tick the "Wipe Free Space" box ?
  21. There's a huge, all-caps warning that asks you to type a word to continue. I don't think someone will actually wipe its drive without understanding what the Drive Wiper does...
  22. What could be used against you in your documents'paths, your computer name and your user name?
  23. Windows Live OneCare is not supported anymore - its replacement is the free Microsoft Security Essentials. Copy/paste the following into Notepad, save it as "fix.reg" (WITH the quotes) into your documents. Then double-click it and accept the prompt. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVG]
