  1. This does not sound like malware. Please be more careful recommending people to Spyware Hell
  2. You need to make a topic in the Spyware Hell forum, sounds like you have a rootkit Try download the tools from another machine, rename them all to svchost.com and move them over to the infected machine. They should run then
  3. The last thing I'd be testing is an anti-virus beta, that has the potential to go so very very wrong.
  4. CA is a pretty terrible AV, has been for a long time. ESET online scanner is free and removes what it finds. I'm a big Kaspersky Webscan fan though
  5. If people continue to use cracks after being already helped in the Spyware Hell forum previously, they wont get help there actually. It is a waste of our time and we are already over-stretched with logs.
  6. looks fine. I don't think this is malware but if you want, you can go to the Spyware Hell forum to rule it out
  7. I shouldn't admit it, but I run absolutely no security programs on my machine. This is mainly due to a few reasons I don't use p2p programs, don't visit disreputable sites, its a slow old PC, I know I can pretty much fix any infection if I was ever to get infected. Each to their own really. I've been doing this for like 5 years now. To be honest if my PC wasn't so old I would use some security programs, doesn't hurt to have them and it can save you a lot of trouble. I do stress everybody use ERUNT though
  8. Ignore that, AVG is being a pain You sure you haven't installed anything new lately ? In particular security programs ? Try this as well Download Security Check from here or here. Save it to your Desktop. Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box. A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document. Download TFC to your desktop Open the file and close any other windows. It will close all programs itself when run, make sure to let it run uninterrupted. Click the Start button to begin the process. The program should not take long to finish its job Once its finished it should reboot your machine, if not, do this yourself to ensure a complete clean

  10. Am helping her in the Spyware Hell forum so will close this
  11. looks interesting, may see about using this myself
  12. here http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=20214
  13. All you do is run the program, it does everything for you. Literally takes 5 seconds. I recommend running it once a month just so you have a new system restore point in case anything goes wrong You should have both of these things
  14. this is what you want to download To view the HOSTS file in plain text form. (597 kb) (opens in browser) Note: The text version also makes a terrific reference for determining possible unwanted sites Download: hosts.zip [right-click - Select: Save Target As] [updated July-27-2009] All you need to do is run the .bat file inside it. Doesn't take long
  15. You don't have to but it would not be a good idea to leave them Its very important to have registry backups
  16. Go ahead and move it guys, am pretty positive its not malware related
  17. That definitely does not sound malware related Read the Before you Post sticky if you want me to make sure
  18. I think it is but not 100% sure Their protection should be the best
  19. Currently reading Kabuki then going onto an Albert Camus book soon enough. I really liked that trilogy by David Gemmell
  20. Its always best if they stick to their topic until they hear the magic words "Your logs are clean" Generally scanners aren't going to fix everything
  21. Its definitely not the best anti-spyware program out there, but not the worst either. Check out MalwareBytes Anti-Malware if you haven't already. Also, just because it doesn't find things, doesn't necessarily make it bad, could be due to you being careful with your PC security.
  22. You did give them advice. Telling a user to run their anti-virus and anti-spyware programs is giving malware removal advice
