I just installed that ZSoft Uninstaller. So when i install some program, i first analyze that program with ZSoft Uninstaller. Then i use program own uninstall utility (Add/Remove program) and finally use ZSoft Uninstaller to remove that program?

My Winamp got pretty much the same memory usage. I got Winamp 5.3 with classic style skin and no visualization. Modern skins are one hell of a memory hogs.
-
XP does that with some DLLs, example with wbem dlls. But if you got a lot of programs in right click menu, those program shell extension dlls stays in memory. You don't even have to use those programs, just open file/folder RL menu and dlls are loaded to memory (explorer.exe).

This is little off-topic, but sometimes when using RegEdit, i found leftover keys of uninstalled programs. Any registry cleaning softwares won't found those (i use quite a many). So even when you unistall programs properly and use registry cleaning softwares, there still is reg. entries lurking. I just found a key (and values) created by Kerio firewall, that i uninstalled ages ago.. :/ It was under HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software.

Yes. I downloaded it from here: http://www.nest-soft.co.uk/press_release/cl_rav.htm

Well i manually check updates for SpywareBlaster about twice a week. I scan with Ad-Aware about twice or once a month and sometimes with Spybot S&D (never nothing found). Viruses i don't scan very often. I trust my Avast resident prodection. Sometimes i also quicly check with clrav virus removal utility. It's very fast scan for some specific viruses.

Basicly just using Opera or Firefox instead of IE, keep you out of the crapware. When using IE, SpywareBlaster is a MUST. Up-to-date antivirus program is always must to have. I personally use and prefer Avast!. So i think that Real Time prodection for spy/adware is quite needless, when using safe browser like i.e Opera.

I tried MVPS hosts file a while, but gave up with it, because it was blocking too much 'not harmful' addresses. I already got Ad-muncher and SpywareBlaster.

Does that JkDefrag need as much free space for degragging than i.e. Diskeeper?
-
Defragging every day seems to be way too often. I think once every month or two is often enough, depending are you installing/uninstalling lot of programs. Of course if you defrag i.e. every day or once a week, there's no lot of fragmentation, so the hard drive is not under heavy use during defrag process, which is generally better for the drive than defragging heavely fragmented drives.

Simple and light (no installation) freeware temp file cleaner. Cleans temp folders from all users. (i'm not sure if CCleaner does that?). http://www.atribune.org/content/view/19/2/

I use Sygate Personal Firewall Pro.

I have been using Avast! couple of years and it is just great. That 4.6 version has been out quite a while now. Here's Avast! revision history: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-4-home_pro-...on-history.html

That site requires ActiveX supported browser, like IE.

Has anyone tried this online service? http://safety.live.com/site/en-US/ I haven't yet.

Those listed desktop.ini files are temp files, that's why CCleaner removes them. Why you want to stop removing of them? Btw, do you use any skinning program, i.e. IconPackager?
-
Are you installing top of the existing version? If so, try clean install. You can also check if CCleaner.exe is in "read-only" mode (right click CCleaner.exe and choose Properties).

Just found and installed this program yesterday. Might be very handy when installing suspicious programs.

Why A: drive "wakes up" while i scan issues (reg. scan)?

I made simple batch file to access Temporary Internet Files folder. Here's how to do it: Open Notepad and type "start explorer C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files" (without quotes). Then go to File - "Save As...", select "All Files" and type Filename, example TIF.bat. Finally save it to somewhere on disk.

What are the values under *this key and can they be safely removed? There are lot of binary values. *HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Wallpaper\MRU
