  1. What is the most worst and heartbreaking thing happened with/to your computer? I haven't got any major problems. Once i got a virus, that took couple of hours to get rid of it and some little other problems. Knockin' the wood (my head).
  2. I didn't heard anything...
  3. It's Mothers Day here in Finland also. Btw. Finland just lost final to Canada in Ice Hockey World Championships. Result was 4-2. Rick Nash made 2 goals.
  4. Andavari: Don't quite understand what are you talking about. I'm talking about .sys files, not .dll files. Did you perhaps misunderstood the line that you quote?
  5. This is my tip, if your Windows XP suddenly starts to crash with "Blue Screen of Death", (possibly) with error "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". If it starts to crash, remember what programs you have installed just before crashes started to occur. I personally have noticed, that my XP system doesn't seem to like some system driver (.sys) files. So if you have installed programs, that installs those .sys files to your system and your computer starts to crash after that, try to UNinstall those apps to see if that helps. You can also stop .sys files from being loaded to memory at Windows start up, using AutoRuns program. Just go to 'Drivers' tab and uncheck wanted driver file. System driver files are usually installed to Windows/system32/drivers folder. In some cases they are installed to program own folder (Program Files/<program>). This is just one possible reason that might cause crashing, based to my own experiences. There are also MANY other reasons.
  6. I still wonder why i got those entries, but NOT that oreans32.sys file...? Could it be that some spyware remover identified this oreans32 as spyware, and removed that oreans32.sys from my system and left those entries behind? Also wonder why this oreans32 was installed in first place? And what installed it? Does anyone else got this oreans32? Quote from another forum: service named "oreans32" with driver "C:\Windows\system32\drivers\oreans32.sys" can be found in "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" section of Device Manager (You have to check "Show hidden devices".) Screenshot from my system: http://xs315.xs.to/xs315/07195/oreans32.jpg
  7. No, no. I know that my system is clean. I just wonder what that 'oreans32' is and that can i remove it's entries.
  8. I noticed that in Device Manager, under "non-plug and play drivers", there's entry named "oreans32" with exclamation mark on it. There's exclamation mark, because i don't got file oreans32.sys on System32/drivers folder. Anyway, there's still oreans32 service entries in registry. I read that this oreans32 might be spyware/virus. I just wonder that can i remove that entry from Device Manager and also those reg. entries?
  9. Same here. Most in the list are unnecessary. Your Windows start up time will increase dramatically, when disabling them.
  10. I have Unlocker program installed. I noticed a little problem (or conflict) with it. I was adding programs from Start-All program-Accessories to 'Start menu' by right clicking wanted program and selecting "Add to start menu". Problem was that i had to do it twice, first time Unlocker window popped up and said that there's no locking in that program. Does anyone else got this problem? Well i think that it was only temporary conflict, because it doesn't happened anymore, when i just tried.
  11. http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1264408,00.html I read this from local newspaper also. There it said, that spiders were only size of the eraser at the top of the pencil.

    Lock your pc

Yes, that only works, if you use Windows login password.
  13. I'm still using version 3.91 and it serves my purposes well.
  14. I bought another S-ATA drive, i already got one. Problem is, that programs that can publish S.M.A.R.T. data, show same info for both drives. Even model- and serial number are the same for both drives. Only 'seek error rate' and C3 (unknown attribute) are individual on both drives. I enabled S.M.A.R.T. in BIOS, but that didn't helped. Both drives are Seagate Barracuda S-SATA. First drive is ST3200827AS and this new one is ST3250624AS. Can anybody tell what is wrong? EDIT: Found this from VIA forum: You will only be able to SEE the Smart Status of the SATA connected to the Channel 0 on the VIA Controller if you use a windows based utility such as Everest Ultimate. Even if you use the SeaTools Diagnostic running on a floppy disk during boot you will only SEE (1) of the SATA's Smart Status. This does not mean that your 2nd SATA connected to Channel 1 is not reporting Smart Status but the data is not being forwarded from the controller most likely because the architecture of the controller is a PCI-ISA Bridge. Visa versa if you switched channels then one channel will report the Smart Status If you for instance you had 2 SATA's either standalone or in a RAID Array on the Promise-378 Controller both drives Smart Status will be available both in windows as well as by the SeaTools Diagnostic because the architecture of the Promise-376/378 Controllers is straight on the PCI Buss.
  15. Version 3.8 is released. Changelog
  16. Absolulety NOT. Do not delete it! $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder is safe to delete, if you are sure that you don't need to uninstall SP2.
  17. What about the files that you download from internet? Without an antivirus you can't tell, is the file infected or not. But if you only download from trusted sites, then there should be no viruses. Anyway, common sense is the best prodection. Antivirus program is good to have.
  18. My reply was answer to thread question: What have you liked so much that you bought it. It WAS NOT reply to your printer talk. And secondly, i didn't said that i prefer XP. End of off-topic.
  19. Am i saying that?! No, i'm not! What's your problem anyway?
  20. Windows XP Home. Otherwise i prefer freeware...
