Under the browser (say edge chromium or firefox or what ever your browser is, is a check mark for sessions -
Probably in quarantine. Thoughtthat's a very old speccy i think. Latest is 1.32. The "malware" probably being referenced is potential unwanted app bundler. So it's probably flagging the included software with the free version (something i believe doesn't occur in newer ccleaner.com installers) likely a toolbar or avg antivirus or chrome.

You can control cookies in options I think your issue is wiping session though, try unchecking that. Both are part of custom clean. Healthcheck ignores those and does it's own thing -
Ccleaner auto-Launch with Windows
Nergal replied to DMK_Roslindale's topic in CCleaner Bug Reporting
Are auto updates and smart cleaning turned off? Do you have ccleaner's scheduler enabled? -
Good guess but I've tried with no extensions and still the browser subprocess of edge needs to be killed by task manager about 50% of the time.
-
Latest update to windows 11, unsure the code. About 60% of thr time edge does not exit fully and must be ended from background processes on task manager. Have both setting off, have toggled them. Have gpedit telling edge not to start at startup and idle.
-
No, edge changed something and those option aren't enough to stop edge from continuing running after exit some of the time
-
Yes but that's something microsoft changed, it's not properly exiting all the time and starts with machine idle (if you don't have windows pro and access to group policy editor)
-
You're gonna need to contact support by email Support@ccleaner.com
-
Yes something in a new edge update is keeping it running and starting it at idle. I've found some success in using group policy editor (i have pro version of windows) to strictly refuse starting at startup or when idle (administrive templates>windows components>microsoft edge). It started doing it again today (once but can't reproduce yet).

No, this is an official website, alternatives are not to be discussed

This Thread closed as a duplicate, i thought we'd discussed it recently thanks @hazelnut

For those that chose edge, settibg this group policy to disable seems to fix the edge stays open and can't clean "bug" I'll follow up if this changes and it comes back.

Ok so for about the last few weeks (maybe a month) edge runs in the background and does not end; as evidenced by ccleaner not cleaning at exit and by microsoft edge processes (12 of them) in task manager background processes. I've got the right settings, no startup boost, no run extensions in the background (toggled and restarted many times over). Turned off all extensions as that is often a problem in other browsers and edge is now chromium so could befoul it too. Any other suggestions (outside of don't use edge) I like it and it makes me able to help others who just use the default browser whatever it is.

Are you asking a question about ccleaner browser? Or something about the ccleaner windows download page maybe?
-
Check that your antimalware is not blocking it. Are you opening ccleaner.exe or ccleaner64.exe (the former should launch the latter but maybe av is stopping it)

clean install of CCleaner and keep recent ccleaner.ini
Nergal replied to CSGalloway's topic in CCleaner
Copy the ini to another location (like desktop, or external disk) Uninstall ccleaner Reinstall Cut the ini from the desktop and paste it in the new ccleaner folder -

As far as i know PA has the developer's permission (at least they used to have it in the piriform days) -
No, drive wiper does not, to the best of my deep knowledge, do this.

Welcome back to CCleaner Professional ???

I use many Portable (large P) Apps apps without PA platform and update them via the webpage for the portable app. It should be noted that not all regular portables (small p) are stealth (leaving no traces). Ccleaner was stealth but no longer, still works well portably without PA wrapper.
