  1. There could be one problem: your system drivers that work in Win 8 won't work on your Win 10 system. That's one major reason I won't migrate from Win 7 to Win 10.
  2. Nice opportunity to also fix a number of other smaller bugs in DF. (Nag, nag, nag, nag, ............................ )
  3. - More bugs in DF v2.20: The entries mentioned in reply #1 of this thread don't get sorted at all. (A pity I don't smoke. Although I love to have good glass of (dutch (!!!)) beer, not that horrible stuff that the english call "beer")
  4. DF v2.20 still has another bug. Take the following steps: - Make sure DF stores the settings in the file "Defraggler.ini". - Add a number of folders to the list of folders that should be moved to the end of the drive. (Settings, Options, Defrag, Files/Folders). - Now delete a number folders from that same menu. - Close & restart DF. After that the list with folders (to be moved towards the end of the drive) will show multiple instances of the same folder. See the attachment for an example.
  5. - I put all bug reports in one thread because then I can keep better track of what bugs I came across.
  6. - Well. You can start with closing this thread and moving Bert's to a separate new thread. I'll try (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) to come up with a solution for this "generic title" problem. Perhaps opening a new thread when a new version of a Piriform program has been reelased would be more to the liking of the moderators ??
  7. - Don't do it. Your SSD is already fast enough.
  8. - In other words: What was supposed to an improvement in DF wasn't one. - To be frank, I very rarely use the "Defrag Drive" option. Didn't do it with this or the previous version(s). Takes too much time. I only use the "Defrag Drive" option to test the extra options ("exclude", "Quick Defrag", etc.) that are available for "Defrag Drive". In this thread http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=32501 I reported many a thing that were "problematic" with those extra options. I could imagine and wouldn't be surprised at all that the slow degragging of an entire drive and the bugs reported in that thread (see above) are based on the same "weak spots" in the program code. - Have the users, who have posted in this thread, used any extra options (from e.g. the "Exclude" screen) ? Or did Defraggler perform in those cases a "full scale" "Defrag Drive" operation ?
  9. @MTA: Thanks. I did't know that.
  10. - LOL. No, I don't. I actually ran out of tin foil. I am using Kevlar right now.
  11. Although I still use Win 7, I came across a bunch of interesting & useful info regarding the Win 10 OS. - "Bleeping Computer" had one very interesting thread. It seems that Windows 10 is doing A LOT OF "Spying" on the user of that OS. But it turns out that some people have figured out on how to stop all that "snooping". http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/605420/my-computer-is-using-way-too-much-internet The program can be used for Windows 7 & 8 as well. - Delay Windows 10 updates: http://lifehacker.com/enable-metered-connection-to-delay-windows-10-updates-1723316525 - Disable mandatory Windows 10 Updates: http://www.guidingtech.com/48828/delay-disable-mandatory-updates-windows-10/ - Windows 10 uses one's computer to distribute updates to other computer users. But that feature also can be disabled. http://lifehacker.com/windows-10-uses-your-bandwidth-to-distribute-updates-d-1721091469
  12. Another bunch of wealthy chinese that want to leave China with their money.
  13. - The "Move files to end of the drive" option in DF v2.20 still has some SERIOUS problems. I have one folder with some 2.680 audio files. I told DF to move those files (in total 59 GB) to the end of the drive. First DF told me that the amount of time needed would be more than one day. Then DF told me that the "Remaining time" would be 12 hours and then after say 20 minutes DF told me that DF had completed the task. But when I used the "Search" feature of DF then it revealed that only a minor amount of files were moved towards the end of the drive. Odd, VERY odd. - However, I noticed something peculiar. I think DF could be running into some (weird) "brick wall". I noticed that when Windows makes a System Restore Point (SRP) then Windows places all the files needed for that SRP in the 2nd half of my HD (towards the end of the drive). I could image that there's a clash/conflict between DF on the one hand and System Restore on the other hand. And I DO know that System Restore use the VSS Service. (What do you mean: Windows is complicated ?).
  14. A follow up on the previous post: - Even when I add one or more folders to the "Exclude" list then DF doesn't remove the folder(s) that are listed more than once. Odd, very odd.
  15. - Here's another bug that keep "bugging" me and that hasn't been fixed in the latest version. I installed 4 different instances of DF. Each installed program has its own (and different) settings in the file "Defraggler.ini". I told each instance of DF to store the settings in that *.ini file, instead of storing them in the registry, because otherwise each instance of DF would use the same settings. And then an annoying bug shows up. DF doesn't manage the folders well that are supposed to be excluded. Recently I deleted 3 (or was it 4 ?) folders from the "Exclude" screen. But when I close DF and re-open the program again then surprisingly one folder showed up twice and one folder even showed up 4 times. See the picture attached. Recently one of the Piriform developers wanted to have "Feedback". Well, if Pirifrom would fix a number of bugs in DF (as reported in this thread) then - at least - the DF GUI would be much less confusing and much less annoying. It would be - at least - for me much less frustrating to use the DF option(s) (screen(s)).
  16. What about the build-in Windows firewall ? I assume it's still running without "Razz" knowing it. At least, I have seen many people who installed a Anti virus program with a Firewall but overlooked the fact that the Windows Firewall was still running. In other words, they had 2 Firewalls running.
  17. Suggestion: Add an option called "Defragment System Files". With this option DF could defragment a whole bunch of system files: - files/folders that start with "$.......". E.g. "C:\$extend\.......... ". (This is based on the assumption that these files/folder can be moved & defragmented). File(name)s that start with "$........." seem to be moved by DF. - System Restore Points (can be done in Windows XP). Perhaps there're more (system) file/folders that can be defragmented ? But then these system files shouldn't show up in the "regular" file list. And don't mention what system files are defragmented.
  18. A follow up on post/reply #78: - I ticked the box called "Move large files to end .................." in the "Defrag" screen. See screenshot #2. - I made DF analyze the C: drive, and while it was analyzing that drive I clicked on "Settings", "Defrag" and made a screenshot of the "Defrag" menu. (Note that the check box called "Move large files to end ................. " got grayed out/unchecked.) See screenshot #1 - As soon as DF had finished analyzing the entire menu/pane gets un-"grayed out" but the big surprise is that the option/box "Move large files to end .................... " gets checked (!!!!!!!), reflecting the TRUE state of the option "Move large files to end ................ " !!!! (See screenshot #2).
  19. @Paul Piriform: Piriform could start with adressing the (comparitively) small bugs in Defraggler. I came across a few and I have reported those (small ??) bugs in a separate thread here on the forum.: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=32501 (although I doubt I would qualify to be a Piriform "Power User", I love to "torture" the Piriform programs I do use).
  20. I see, that makes much more sense.
  21. To be frank: I HATE the "Cloud". I tried it for while but my internet connection is (from time to time) "not too reliable". So, I wasn't able to ALWAYS access my documents in the Cloud. No more Cloud for me (for the time being). And no, I don't use any smartphone (yet ???). So, the usefulness of any of the Piriform "Cloud" programs for me is (close to) zero.
  22. Based on the place/sub forum where this call for "Feedback & Ideas" is placed, I assume that Piriform thinks that they will prioritize the development of products that are "Cloud related". Does this mean that Piriform doesn't intend to improve/develop further other Piriform any more ? Like e.g. the "buggy" Defraggler ? That program still requires A LOT OF time to get rid of all or most of the existing bugs. Perhaps Piriform can put more time into improving Defraggler.
  23. Made 2 screenshots of 2 things that need to be improved in the next version of Defraggler: - DF still lists/moves files/folders that start with a "$". See 1st picture. - I checked the box called "Move large files to the end of the drive" but when I put DF to work then it looks like this option hasn't been selected at all (see inside the red box). Then the check box inside the red box should be like the check box inside the blue box. See 2nd picture.
  24. - Since the end of 2014 Microsoft has upgraded the "Disk Clean Up" tool with extra functionality that can reduce the size of the "c:\Windows\Winsxs\.......... " folder (on my Win 7 system it has the size of some 12 GBs (ouch !!!)) where A LOT OF old system files are archived. It's available in - at least - Win 7 and newer. It isn't available in Vista and XP (XP has also that mysterious "winsxs" (sub)folder)). http://www.howtogeek.com/174705/how-to-reduce-the-size-of-your-winsxs-folder-on-windows-7-or-8/ - Some files seem to be located in the "C:\Windows\syswow64" and/or "C:\windows\system32\" folder but are actually located in that mysterious "C:\Windows\Winsxs" folder. - @Trium: See my previous answers.
  25. - @Bert: Are you sure Defraggler caused those bad sectors & clusters ? Defragmentation programs are very "hard disk" intensive and then weak spots on one's HD can turn into disk errors.
