  1. It is not really free. It is free as in "free of charge". But due to being freeware it is still restricted in some ways.

And if it wasnt free, I would never have used it. And would never ever even considered to buy/pay for it.

And if you're not careful, it installs crap like Yahoo! toolbar.

If it wants to be free, then it should be free from junk such as Yahoo! toolbar, and have the source code freely available too. And I should be allowed to freely modify it, distribute it, change it, alter it, etc.

  2. I hate ads.

Especially the animated gifs and macromedia flash crap.

    And graphical ones.

Maybe ads make people dumb, always telling people what todo and trying to influence people into crap.

Also always when click on a ad banner you get 100 cookies and offers of "free screensaver" that has spyware and crap. Ads are evil!

  3. AntiVir is now known as Avira, I think.

I like ClamWin because it is free, open source and light. Unfortunately its pretty slow and have no on-access scan. :(

AVG and avast! is pretty popular. Avast has skin though, I dont like that.

Probably AVG is the best maybe...

    Not sure...

  4. Did you remember to stop and then restart Explorer.exe via the task manager

    No, I restarted computer...

Another way to do it is visit kellys-korner-xp.com (a great site) then scroll down to: 53. Remove Past Items From Notification Area

It's a .vbs file (it's safe) that you run, it will automatically end task Explorer.exe and restart it. However it's best to restart Windows because if you try to customize the icons in the SysTray they won't stay configured the way you put them which is the reason you need to restart Windows.

    Thanks, that worked! :)

  5. Yeah, some people and corporations are trying to destroy the Internet, much of them is big corporations that want make more money or have some twisted agenda.

    * Fundamental christians who want to remove porn, and further enforce age limits in game and remove violence, etc.

    * AOL (America Online).

    * Church of Scientology who several times want censorship stuff, remove websites about/against scientology, spam mailing lists, etc.

  6. If you do things like eGold and online transactions then security becomes a top priority.

You could get a Linux Live CD distribution, that way you can boot the computer from the CD and run the operating system and all software directly from the CD without mounting the harddisk. Since the CD is read-only media, nothing can written/installed on the CD and it cant touch the disk either unless you mount it. Linux has very high security.
