  1. Try going into the tools section, see if it is listed there, highlight, and press uninstall. Also you could try TeakUI one of Microsofts PowerToys. I presume you have done the install/uninstall routine and cleared all instances from the registry? Welcome to the forum by the way rfalter
  2. Here is a nice little screensaver. http://www.clock-screen-saver.com/
  3. You could always try start-run and type msconfig then click ok. Under the general tab put a dot in selective startup. Click the startup tab and remove the tick from the AIM checkbox if it is listed. Click OK and restart. You should still be able to launch manually from programs menu. To reverse changes just go back and recheck box and reboot. As with all changes make sure you make backups to your system.
  4. Was reading about this software and had a smile when I got to the "Limitations" paragraph. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Chat...y-Monitor.shtml
  5. Is this what you did with AIM? To prevent AIM 6.1 from loading at Windows startup, choose "Edit > Settings > Sign In/Sign Out". Remove the check mark from "Start AIM when Windows starts" and click "Save".
  6. Typically the default place for the issues backups is "my documents"
  7. You are right. it only found this thread!
  8. Lulu, when you click the Host it! button in image shack and it takes you to the page with all the links on, choose the second link down, left-click on it to highlight it, then right-click on it and choose copy. Back at the forum, write your post and then right-click and choose paste, it will put the link in then, however it won't show as a picture until it appears on the forum as a post.
  9. Have you used CCleaner before Augusto? Are you choosing SAVE ( this is the correct option) when you try to download?
  10. Not sure but think it is is to do with the way items are numbered in the recycle bin by microsoft. Are you running XP or Vista? Do you have admin rights? Do you have any other problem?
  11. Same here Mike, run both the apps you mentioned but wondered how many others still ran spybot, and if people thought it was still worthwhile having.
  12. Just wondering what other members think about whether spybot is still a one to have in the fight against spyware.
  13. Perhaps they got classed as temp files as they were stranded in no mans land while waiting to be rewritten to cd. try this http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Back-U...storation.shtml I know someone who recovered jpegs using this free software. Wish you luck. Not a good time to say this I know, but PLEASE back up important info like this daily. P.S. Just seen Mike's post, another option for you.
  14. Today mine is Gloria - Van Morrison. Tomorrow it will be something else

  19. Try having a read here as a start, someone else will probably post with some more ideas soon. http://computershopper.com/forums/archive/...x.php/t-11.html
  20. If Humpty's suggestions don't work, put a hjt log in the hijackthis analysis part of this forum, perhaps posting a link to this thread also so the spyware mods can get the history of your problem.
  21. Until someone else jumps in with a solution, you could try looking at these 2 links, one leads to the other. It may give you some ideas anyway. http://www.neowin.net/forum/lofiversion/in...hp/t272273.html http://jtsang.mvps.org/flock.html
  22. I use AntiVir and luckily have no update problems. I liked Avast a lot, but it didn't seem to like my system too much, made heavy work of it, and the mail scanner I had to disable almost immediately, as I found racing pigeons would have been quicker.
  23. Internet Explorer can sometimes get corrupted registry files and gets confused about which file association it needs (hence Humpty's suggestion above) Can you remember anything that you installed or uninstalled around the time your problems started? Are your computers linked? Perhaps a hijackthis log my be an idea if nothing else comes up that works.
  24. Have a look here to see if this helps http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=8588 Welcome to the forum
