Which way were you trying to copy the files munjo, from usb drive to computer, or the other way round? What type of files were they? Is your anti virus flagging anything on your computer as infected? If so what is the virus? If so, can you post a hijackthis log in the analysis part of the forum here http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showforum=12 Instructions on how to do a log are at the top of that page.
  4. When I open CCleaner, under applications, I have opera listed there. Do you not have this there?
  5. Off the top of my head I cannot think of any software that you have to keep minimized in order to still be protected.

  7. I don't really think this was what CCleaner was designed for muna I don't think you can blame the developer for wanting to give you unlimited openings of the file in return for a link from your webpage, otherwise it's 3 strikes and you are out!

    Linux

Because I hadn't actually tried Linux yet, I felt I couldn't really comment too much about it. So I sent off for a ubuntu livecd and was surprised when it arrived yesterday after a few days wait. The headquarters of the distributer is in the Isle of Man UK which may explain why. I managed to get it running with a couple of problem areas. Part of the screen seemed to be off the edge if you know what I mean, so that part of the edge taskbar buttons were missing, It said I needed to reset to 1280 by 1024 60hz, when I found the res area it was already set at that, only the 76hz was different, but it wouldn't let me change that. Couldn't work out how to connect to the internet, perhaps I should have done more research on that, and how to access my photos and music, Being used to windows instuctions, I found what instructions there were a bit difficult to understand. Therein lies the problem I think, you cannot beat clear instructions, presented in a user friendly format. I liked the desktops and managed to write a letter but not print it! When I closed down, it didn't, after uninstalling everything it just sat there with all the writing on the screen, had to power off manually.

    Linux

StrayLit Me, Your assessment of Linux has obviously been based on user experience, and you seem to have given it a good go. I am sure that a lot will agree with you, most users just want to use an operating system without having look up info on how to install or use software/hardware which just runs right off with windows. There will always be two camps I think, those that see computers as something to switch on and use and enjoy out of the box, and those who want to build the box which they open and use.
  20. I have windows media maker listed in CCleaner applications. As Andavari said, unticking this would stop any action there on ccleaners part. Also if you download new versions of CCleaner over the top of last version it would save your settings. I take it FourTeller you are not using Vista?
  21. Hello Squeezer Have a read here, a great system restore troubleshooting guide http://bertk.mvps.org/html/srfail.html
  22. You are right Humpty, boclean is highly regarded, we'll just have to wait and see what changes this brings about.
  23. I use opera and CCleaner detects it. Are you remembering to click the applications tab in CCleaner, opera is listed there. Sorry if you already know that
