  1. G231 make sure your friend has opened the volume control (by double clicking the speaker icon in the taskbar) and checked that it hasn't been muted. He could also try plugging in a known working set of headphones to make sure the sound card is functioning. Also if he has separate speakers try plugging them into a known working portable cd player.
  2. I have stuck with dvd shrink and dvd decrypter as they have always worked for me. Found this for you to read through Tom, I not suggesting you do it, as we all know copies should only be made for yourself from ones you own, and not for any other reason This guide is what I first used a few years back, he's done it up a bit since then. As I said read it first. http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/petesguide3.html
  3. I agree with rridgely, when I use shrink I just choose main movie to shrink as the other items are just extras such as all the credits of who played who etc, which everyone fast forwards anyway No loss of quality Tom, just quantity.
  4. For those of us who use it there is an new updated version http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm Look for the special instructions for vista users
  5. You are right Andavari, the actual reasons why and what it meant don't really apply today. Some info here http://www.vanishingtattoo.com/easter_island_tattoos.htm
  6. Was there a reason why you needed to post that? It is freely available from the CCleaner website http://www.CCleaner.com/download/version-history
  7. You could be right jeromy, I may have misinterpreted what he meant.
  8. Some things don't change http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2007/08/...6857772386.html
  9. Every time you go on the internet you will get cookies, just think of them as calling cards from the places (sites) online you have looked at. The ones you want to save so that you don't have to keep putting in your name and password ( say for this forum) you would go in the CCleaner program to options>cookies and highlight the cookies you want to keep in the" cookies to delete" column and click the middle arrow to send it over to the "cookies to keep column". It is normal for there to be a list of cookies in that delete column or it means you aren't surfing the internet Lexonex
  10. If it's the last version you are running and not the beta see here http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=8587
  11. It's a good job some people do, or we wouldn't have much to talk about on the forum
  12. They seem to be quite a few now, it's called the World Browser. http://www.ioage.com/en/index.htm
  13. Hello SupaDawg, It is fine to have things ticked in SYSTEM, but it would not be advisable to tick anything in advanced unless you are sure what you are doing. I am having a problem with linking to the beginners guide at the moment, if you post back, hopefully it should be back up . EDIT: link now working http://www.internetrotsyourbrain.com/ccleanerbeginnersguide/
  14. All my installed programs are listed ( XP)
  15. Do you mean CCleaner program will not uninstall, or the uninstaller function of CCleaner will not work?
  16. If you did an Issues clean you would have been offered the choice of making a backup of the issues you were cleaning, saved by default in my documents, right-click on it and choose merge. The hotfix uninstaller is just that, an uninstaller meaning you would not be able to uninstall the update. It doesnt uninstall the update, just the uninstaller. I keep mine unticked by the way until I am sure an update is okay on my system. If the windows update log shows these as installed and they are in the folder( mine are black, compressd NTFS files are shown in blue,) they may all be on your system
  17. It's a little box at the top of your add/remove section on your computer.
  18. Just a quick check Tom, have you got the little box ticked in control panel which says show updates?
  19. Just a quick update on this Bert http://www.CCleaner.com/downloadbuilds.asp
  20. Glad everything is working again radeau
  21. I am sure Bert that anyone who is able to use the internet can link, to and use, a currency converter. Here is the one I use by the way http://www.xe.com/ucc/ If MrG the developer reads this, he may well think about your point.
  22. I had 9 Firery, took a minute or two, a bit stop and go, all done with a reboot to follow.
  23. If you look on the left hand side you will see the Euro paypal sign, under "how can I help" http://www.CCleaner.com/ Press the euro sign and on the next page choose Germany in the drop down country menu. Then when the page refreshes enter 15 in the unit price box at the top and press update totals. It should now say 15 euros. Make sure that the secure padlock sign is in the address bar
  24. Hello Phil, have you right-clicked on the desktop icon and chose run as administrator?
