  1. The grammar alone says stay away. If you want a stay at home job just inputting data for some company you should try to apply through their website. Only go with companies that you've heard of/know are legit.
  2. No, gOS is a crappy Ubuntu derivative. Its literally just ubuntu with a few graphical changes/software additions. If you want to try a good ubuntu copy cat try Linux Mint. Its probably the closest thing to usable that a linux distro will ever get. Google's OS is android. Currently its only for phones but there is speculation that it will move onto other devices. If thats true/when that will happen is still up in the air.

  4. Yeah if you have a gig of ram or more then this is probably not going to offer any benefit. However if you only have 256mb (like many early xp computers did) then you should give this a shot.
  5. I saw this and thought it was kind of cool. http://cnettv.cnet.com/2001-1_53-50004761.html Its basically letting you use a usb drive as more memory in xp(like ready boost in vista). This might help you if your on an old computer with little ram. I would think that its going to be slower than actually upgrading your ram internally so that would still be the way to go if you've got the know how(and its pretty dang easy to do).

    Imageshack

If everyone is getting different results then that probably just means the site is broken. We are just seeing it successfully at random.

I can see it fine first try in firefox. All I have installed is adblock plus. (newest java/flash of course).
  8. Yeah I'll be 20 in a few months. I like to think that you thought I was older because I'm so fantastically brilliant. (oh and if that's not the reason I suggest you keep it to yourself OR ELSE. )
  9. Lets try this. First log into the stacy account. Now go to start>my computer. Right click all your hard drives and click properties. Write down the following things, capacity, used space, free space. You will find all that info by the little chart in the properties menu. Next in the stacy account go to start>search. On the right click on documents. Then click search. Let it run and see if your ms office files pop up somewhere on the drive. Then you could do the same for pictures. If you install office from that disc you will need a license key. It won't work without it.(it will install you just wont be able to use it).
  10. Sounds to me like he tried to do a non destructive reinstall and when that didn't work he went for the full reformat. If your files are not in the "gary" user account then they are probably gone. Recuva may be able to get them back, what recuva does is look for files that are seen by windows as deleted and tries to get them back before the data is overwritten. As far as playing dvds but not being able to burn anything, that sounds like a failing disk drive. This is what makes me think your files are gone. 33.4 mb in the "gary" account. Unless he moved all your stuff into a folder somewhere on "stacy" then they are gone. Did you try using the search feature in windows to look for any files?
  11. I think bitdefender has a great online scanner, but the free version doesn't have on demand protection at all. It runs resident just to auto update, it doesn't actually catch anything unless you scan with it.
  12. From what I think is going on here you may be out of luck as far as getting MS word back(recuva isn't going to be able to fix that). However if your missing word documents or pictures you can use recuva to get those back(hopefully depending on what your brother did by "installing an os and then another os".) To do that you should get a wizard that will guide you through what you want to recover when you start up recuva. I'm still not really clear on what your brother is telling you he did. Did he reformat the computer?(reinstall windows completely) Did he try to install linux and then switch back to windows? Maybe he can get on here or explain to you more clearly what he did. To get MS word/office back your going to have to find your registration key and then reinstall it from your disc.

    Oosah

I've been using skydrive: http://www.windowslive.com/explore/skydrive Its part of the newest wave of Microsofts MS live services. 25gb is a whole lot of room and the service works great.
  14. If you want bluray go ps3, if you just want to play games go xbox. They have a lot of the same games(actually most games are on both) but xbox has a lot more games right now. If you don't want to play online you could get an xbox for only $200, it doesn't have a hard drive but unless you play online you don't really need it. PS3 has cool features like wifi(xbox it costs $100 for a usb thing), blu ray, and free online play(xbox costs $50 a year, but its more than worth it.) But it doesn't have as many games right now. Xbox has live(online playing), netflix streaming if you have an account, and tons more games.(plus you can usually get used xbox games cheaper than ps3 games at game stores). I have an xbox and I dont regret getting it instead of ps3. I'm not a huge movie buff(I use netflix to rent them) so blu ray wasn't really a big thing to me. Andavari has PS3 so he can give you his opinion on that. Really though there isn't that big a difference anymore since they play almost all the same games.
  15. You can tell I like it? I still haven't beaten it. I've played for about 4 hours or so, I'm at the part where you first get in the snow on the tank. What other game have you been playing?
  16. The scale of this game is crazy. I thought god of war on PS2 was crazy with its huge monsters, this game takes that to a new extreme. A lot of games I've played lately have huge monsters but you dont really get to fight them the same was as all the others, its almost like its on rails. Not in this game! Plus I dont think I've seen anything as cool as the chainsaw bayonet in a game in a pretty long time. Its so much fun getting up on a monster and sawing them in half. Its a surprisingly deep game as well, you have to use cover and think about what your going to do next, you cant just run and shoot like in a lot of games.
  17. If you like videogames and have a xbox360 you have to play this game! I just got this today and its the first time since I got my 360 that I've been impressed that the game I was playing was even possible. Its a roller coaster of an experience that I wasn't able to put down until my eyes literally started to burn. I haven't even tried the multiplayer but I hear its great(I was playing online co-op). This is the first game I've paid full price for in a long time where I felt like it was worth it. The game really is as awesome looking as these pictures http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/gea...ag=topten;all;5

    Songbird 1.0

Has anyone tried the new release of songbird? They have finally gotten to a 1.0 release. I haven't tried it since the very first alpha that came out a long time ago, so I'm going to try it a little later today. The feature list looks good and the interface does look nice from the photos as well: http://getsongbird.com/
  19. Must only be in the installer version. I have a folder that says plug ins and it has one for IE and FF.
  20. Yeah there is a plug in under add ons>plug ins. I think its pretty useful, especially with a tabbed browser.
  21. I must have missed this update previously but I just cleaned/updated all the software on one of my computers and noticed there was a new version of Foxit. This new update is pretty awesome. They finally made it where it would open up inside of firefox like adobe(I've wanted this for a long time). They also changed the interface up a bit with a sidebar that has page previews, bookmarks ect. Only downside I see so far is that the installer has a toolbar that you have to deselect and they also tried to hide some links to ebay in there too. Not a huge issue but worth noting.
  22. Better article: http://blogs.computerworld.com/chrome_firefox ------ I dont see how anyone can use chrome as their only browser. Its missing so many basic features that it just doesn't cut it for me. But if you like going back to IE4 in terms of features than by all means feel free.
  23. I didn't go near any stores. I hate shopping so going when there are millions of people trying to grab stuff out of my hands isn't something I would want to do. I did buy a new mp3 player from bestbuy.com though. Will be here in a few days with 0 hassle/confrontation.
  24. Blah. So wrong on so many levels. Plus the guy who owns that site is a goon.
