  1. In addition to what hazelnut said you can right click on the .reg file then chose to Edit the file with Notepad and you will see an entry like Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ppi]@="ppifile"[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\KB929399]"DisplayName"="Hotfix for Windows Media Format 11 SDK (KB929399)""UninstallString"="\"C:\\WINDOWS\\$NtUninstallKB929399$\\spuninst\\spuninst.exe\"""TSAware"=dword:00000001"NoModify"=dword:00000001"InstallDate"="20090108""Publisher"="Microsoft Corporation""NoRepair"=dword:00000001"HelpLink"="http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=929399""URLInfoAbout"="http://support.microsoft.com""DisplayIcon"=hex(2):22,00,25,00,50,00,72,00,6f,00,67,00,72,00,61,00,6d,00,46,\ 00,69,00,6c,00,65,00,73,00,25,00,5c,00,77,00,69,00,6e,00,64,00,6f,00,77,00,\ 73,00,20,00,6d,00,65,00,64,00,69,00,61,00,20,00,70,00,6c,00,61,00,79,00,65,\ 00,72,00,5c,00,77,00,6d,00,70,00,6c,00,61,00,79,00,65,00,72,00,2e,00,65,00,\ 78,00,65,00,22,00,00,00"ParentKeyName"="OperatingSystem" then by using regedit you can navigate to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall then you can navigate down to where KB929399 will be inserted and manually copy-n-paste the information needed to restore the registry entry to what it was before the cleaning operation began.

Welcome Peter This has been discussed at great length before. Now is a good time to learn the power of Search in the upper right next to Help. It is not quite as comprehensive as Google search but it works great.
  4. What chat client are you using? To which entry in winapp2.ini?
  5. It does not remove any drivers as all it does is removes the device information that is stored in the USB area of the registry.
  6. For $49.95US per year I am not about to try it! I'm a kinda boring type of guy because I don't have paranoid delusions of people watching me nor do I do anything that government agents need to trace my Internet traffic or anybody else for that matter.
  7. It disappears. It is good for removing Flash card information on devices that are not connected at the time. Review USBDeview Columns Description in http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

  9. Welcome sjbrogan Why not give IE a try? Then you will know if it is a connection problem as well. http://download.piriform.com/ccsetup215.exe
  10. I had not thought about having a shortcut in Quick Launch but that's a good idea. Now if I could only figure out why the Quick Launch keeps disappearing after a reboot on this XP Pro system.
  11. Welcome vega43 Why not use the Favorites instead of messing up the Desktop? Click on Favorites then Add to Favorites and you can set up Folders to store similar Web sites. What it is showing you is the Favicon of the site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon If you look in the address bar you will see a small green pear that is the Favicon for this site.
  12. USBDeview v1.30 Recent Versions History: * Version 1.30 o Added new option: Show Time In GMT. * Version 1.29 o Fixed bug: For USB flash drives with multiple drives (like SanDisk Cruzer With U3), USBDeview displayed only one drive letter randomly. Now it can display multiple drive letters. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html
  13. Have a look at Crucial System Scanner tool: http://www.crucial.com It will tell you what type of RAM the system has and the upgrade path.
  14. Welcome Jim. Have a look at adding the winapp2.ini into the CCleaner Folder as it cleans several Messenger log files: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=1110 If it does not clean the specific log file that you want then you can add it yourself. This is documented in the On-Line Documentation site: http://docs.piriform.com/CCleaner/advanced...leaner-to-clean

  16. I'm partial to February Aquarians myself.
  17. I'm not sure it has to do with CCleaner but I used to have Quick Launch active on my Toolbar automatically on this XP Pro system but now I have to enable it. I did find a reg fix at one time but I can't find the correct one now and the search leads me to a small shareware utility TaskbarRepairToolPlus!.exe that indicates it will fix it. It is active on my XP Home system and I can't see the difference in the registry area on this system.
  18. Calendar of Updates Calendar makes it easy to see people's Birthdays but I don't know an easy way to do it here: http://www.calendarofupdates.com/updates/calendar.html

  21. Don't you want to reach out and touch one of the Security Experts that often recommend turning it off because they are paranoid that Microsoft may be spying on them?
  22. Welcome matheret Have you tried PageDefrag? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb897426.aspx

  24. Welcome FIREWASP This has been discussed quite a bit before and the best is to use Eraser application for files but I believe that shredding things in an email client such as Outlook Express or Thunderbird is not possible as they use their own database files and getting in there to shred an individual item could be disastrous. Sent the item to its Deleted Items Folder then empty that Folder then Compress the Folder and it will be gone. I'm not sure about Thunderbird though as I do not use it.
