  3. I don't think so as I'm 10 floors up and there is no basement that I am aware of.
  4. This is suspiciously coincident with signing up with Ashampoo burning studio 2009 free!

  6. One of my favorite books is Stranger in a Strange Land and I read the old version first back in the '70s on the recommendation of friends and picked up the updated release in the early '90s as soon as I heard about it from my hippie friends: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stranger_in_a_Strange_Land
  7. My advice was removed without the courtesy of indicating why. I have taken the courses of malware removal offered at What the Tech when it was TomCoyote ages ago: http://www.whatthetech.com I even received a MVP award back in April 2007 for helping remove malware.
  8. Welcome headley Maybe they have fixed the multiple pass feature? Please read: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=20057
  9. I mostly watch Discovery, PBS, TVO and CBC newsnet for background noise but always switch over to the Comedy channel for The Simpsons followed by King of the Hill. I still have my collections of Isaac Asimov, Arthur Clark, Jean M. Auel, Marianne Wiliamson and Philip Jose Farmer but I lost my favorite Childhood's End as I probably loaned it to someone.
  10. That was a nail biter unlike other games were they were too one sided. I'm sad that the Steelers won again with the close score 27 to 23 in the last minutes but I enjoyed Bruce Springsteen. I know someone that does not have a TV but they read constantly.
  11. cc1, Flash Player is for playing videos for YouTube and the like and Foxit is for displaying pdf files so they are totally different applications for separate functions. The latest version of CCleaner has a few improvements and if you look in the Announcements there have not been any problems with it other than Windows 7.
  12. Anti virus applications lock their files at boot up to prevent tampering by malware and even though you stop the anti virus they are still locked.
  13. Wow! 100 yard run back on an interception. That's a SuperBowl record that can't be beat and very hard to tie.
  14. What anti virus application do you use?
  15. Who is going to watch the Superbowl? http://www.nfl.com/superbowl/43 I definitely will be watching the Halftime show with Bruce Springsteen: http://www.nfl.com/superbowl/43/events/halftime-show
  16. Have you run Adobe Flash Player uninstaller? http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewConten...rnalId=tn_14157 This will remove the current Flash Player though so it will have to be re-installed. Older versions of Flash Player where notorious for leaving vulnerable remnants on the hard drive. Run Secunia Online Software Inspector to show vulnerable applications: http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/online The other Adobe references in the registry are normal Windows references and I would leave them alone.
  17. It is easy to click on it to tell you later I believe. Maybe a Poll would be handy as to favorite Windows Update information sites and method? I have never visited the netwin forum as it is rated Yellow by McAfee SiteAdvisor but general comments rate the forum OK but any site that harbors Messenger Plus! 3 & Sponsor (MsgPlusLive-470.exe) deserves a RED rating in my books as that adware is just nasty: http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/msgplus.net

  19. Welcome dido The DVD RW can read regular CDs as long as they don't have fingerprints or scratches on the read surface.

Its like old slippers that look like &Hotplace but are as comfortable as a warm bath and a waterproof neck pillow with a CD of Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells playing in the background: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=5BSGdX7eNn4 While I'm drying off Kraftwerk - Autobahn http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=68C-r9kSLNE <== I saw them live but it was much louder than I can play it here

That system never ceases to amaze me. I'm going to call it Lazarus from now on. I read that static buildup causes some system to not boot so I tried the tip of disconnecting the power cord and holding in the power switch for 10 seconds and just to be sure I waited 10 seconds and held it in for another 10 seconds then replaced the power cord and in its usual slow manner it sprang to life when I pressed the power switch. I let it sit for 10 minutes for it to completely load and update Avira AntiVir definitions then I fired up IE8 RC1 and installed McAfee SiteAdvisor that would not load before so now it is working with WoT as well. My apartment is heated with electric baseboard heaters and this time of year it is like the Sahara for dryness even though I have a humidifier that runs constantly going through at least a liter of water a day.
  22. Tired of that boring little mouse pointer? Go to Control Panel then Mouse then Pointers then choose Dinosaur and watch the cute Dinosaur as the system is busy instead of the boring hour glass. Conductor is OK if you are musically inclined.
  23. I was just being facetious. The episode I was thinking about was where the office lady was wondering what was behind the red door and finally she opened it to find the Dracula looking guy hiding there because he liked Cradle of Filth or something like that.
