Those prices are unbelievable! Solid state memory is expensive. However, the prices will one day drop and solid state memory will be common place. That's problably when I'm 75. Out of interest for me would be a flash drive that you can boot your own os and use portable apps with, 4GB I'd be happy.

I know they last longer then hard drives but... I can get a 250 gb hard drive(internal) for about $80 off newegg right now.(I know because I just bought one. :P)

For 2000-5000 dollars I would rather get a whole computer or another plasma tv. :P

seen 2GB already, and you can boot up to linux with a 256MB flash.

I've seen them 4gb too, if I recall correctly.

And you can boot Linux on 1mb too. :D

Shouldn't expect too much though, no graphical user interface, etc.

wow, at best buy thatd be about $175, and i almost bought one!

i forgot even to check on newegg.

Staples is almost or just as bad, you can typically find allot of PC stuff cheaper online, and even with shipping and handling you'll still save allot of money. Gone are the days of shopping in my community to keep money in it when the prices are so vastly and drastically different.

Now I wonder how much difference in price it would be to buy a new car online?

Bought a 2 gig last week for $59.

Trying to boot my thinned out XP off it as a learning experience.

Um,let's just say I ain't learnt much as yet.

You might be interested in trying out Linux on the USB flash memory.

Perhaps Damn Small Linux or Puppy Linux. :)

I am not sure it's possible to use Windows on a USB flash memory.
