ED365
A new release (5.35) inmediately after 5.34. Was release 5.34 secure?
Moderators Andavari Posted September 20, 2017 Moderators Share Posted September 20, 2017 I would assume it's because of "New digital signature." So in other words: More secure to avoid another security breach.
Guest Paul CCleaner
Hi, Yes that's correct. Although version 5.34 is malware free, we wanted to go the extra step and issue a new certificate and hence the version bump to 5.35. Thanks :-)
bru20
When did the upgrade process change? When I opened the program this morning I was told 5.34.x was available and was asked "Would you like to install the update now?" Clicking "Yes" immediately installed the new version. Previously I was asked if I wanted to visit the website to download the new version. I much prefer the old method. That way I could see what had been changed, wait a few days to see if there were any issues, have a copy of the new version on my computer, etc.I suppose I will have to disable "Automatically check for updates for CCleaner" now and make a habit of visiting the website to see if there is a new version. Moderators Nergal Posted September 20, 2017 Moderators Share Posted September 20, 2017 I don't think the actual upgrade process changed, I believe the update push was to assure that you received the secure .35 version. Though autoupdate (no website visit) may come soon (already a pro feature) ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Though autoupdate (no website visit) may come soon (already a pro feature) Well it did change if its "pushing" the update rather than having the user go get it. Its done it for two new versions so who knows if they'll go back to how it was. Honestly I've never seen a program with so many updates. Are there that many changes to cleaning temporary internet files? I should have stayed with an older version then never would have had this issue. Moderators Nergal Posted September 20, 2017 Moderators Share Posted September 20, 2017 Normally ccleaner is released once a month. The fast update schedule is a side effect of the recent malware ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.
