Moderators Nergal Posted November 3, 2012 Moderators Share Posted November 3, 2012 I waffled between this going here and in window's security and I settled for here, since it's more privacy than security (though to many myself included the are relatively tied to on-another). According to Qualys Yahoo has looked at the Do Not track mechanics of IE10 and decided that they would not honor User's Wishes TOP VULNERABILITY THIS WEEK * * * Title: Yahoo, Microsoft spar over default Do Not Track Description: In an effort to boost privacy on the web, Microsoft has enabled Do Not Track features by default in Internet Explorer 10, the browser it recently released as part of Windows 8. Citing a need to customize the user experience and a lack of standardization, however, Yahoo - still one of the largest properties on the Web, despite recently declining market share - announced this week that it will not honor that setting. Privacy advocates are abuzz discussing the implications of the decision, which is certain to spark an impassioned discussion of the balance between privacy and user experience on the modern Internet. Moderators hazelnut Posted November 3, 2012 Moderators Share Posted November 3, 2012 So basically we are offered 'do not track' but some others won't honor it. Moderators mta Posted November 3, 2012 Moderators Share Posted November 3, 2012 from what i've been reading on Do Not Track, it was always intended as a voluntary, opt-in process for each web site to honour or not.. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. Great well, see that's what I read into it too, because if Yahoo can do it then more unsavory sources (or just other jerks) will do it ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Super Fast
Like your new avatar. Bright & shiny. Anyway, Yahoo loads fine on mine. Sometimes, if you fall behind on Flash updates, some websites fail to load. There are other reasons of course, but Yahoo never has a problem loading on mine, for some reason. Alan_B
There is not much privacy to protect once you have agreed to Microsoft EULA's I was horrified to see that even though I prohibited SilverLight form getting on my machine, they still dumped on me a EULA which permitted sharing of my data between Microsoft and other unspecified parties, which presumably includes all web page adverts that use SilverLight.
