city_zen
I'm experiencing the same problem ("Cannot initialize CPU.dll") when running Speccy 1.02 on a PC whose Operating System is Windows 2000 Server. Perhaps Win 2000 Server isn't supported by Speccy?
shetlandlover
I'm having a similar problem! Speccy just freezes up my whole pc having displayed about half the information. I've attached CPUID file fyi. Any suggestions? I'm using Windows XP SP3. Thanks. Dave USER-920E8A1E6D.html
mocca
I'm having a similar problem! Speccy just freezes up my whole pc having displayed about half the information. I've attached CPUID file fyi. Any suggestions? Yes, I have the same problem, using Win XP Pro (SP3). As there appears no feedback on this, here is my solution http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard.html PC-Wizard, which is a similar tool, has no such problems. Install it and drop Speccy. jmbullet
I have the same issue Windows XP SP3 Speccy ver. 1.08.218 I'm using Avast! antivirus CCleaner and Defraggler run fine without any problem. Speccy worked fine just before I ran CCleaner. I figured Ccleaner had probably deleted something usesful to speccy in the registry, so I uninstalled and re-installed Speccy. That didn't fix anything. Edit : Everything runs fine again after a reboot

Moderators Nergal Posted March 1, 2011 Moderators Share Posted March 1, 2011 Can you retest this now that the devs have released a new version ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. mathgag555
I've got the same problem here. "cannot initialize cpu dll" I'm running Speccy 1.10, and tried Portable Speccy 1.11 and had the same problem. It is on Windows XP SP3 Pro, with Kaspersky 6.0 for Windows Workstation (business). After seeing this thread, i've tried to reboot and weirdly enough it worked. Do someone knows why the "cpu dll" cannot be "initialized" after some time? (this computer isn't shutdown often, just put in sleep)

If possible, post a screenshot of Speccy displaying the issue. TIA P.S. Does the problem go away after a System Reboot? Hi, I had yesterday XP SP2 working on my PC. I know, I should have updated my PC sooner. With this SP2 I needed to reboot for the problem to dissapear. After the reboot, everything was working. I installed XP SP3 yesterday night, and the problem has dissapeared completely. If this happens again I will report it. Thanks Compumind.
mathgag555
Hi, i had that problem last week (I made a post when it happened). Until today, after a reboot, all was working correctly as I tested it on several computers. Today, I checked back my specs on my main computer (the one that "cannot initialize cpu dll") and the problem poped back again. It says "cannot initialise spc dll" now. Here is a picture of what i'm talking about: I use Windows XP pro SP3, with the portable version of Speccy v1.11 (I tried my v1.10 installed version WITHOUT rebooting and the same error messages appeared). As I thought, when I rebooted, it worked correctly on both version. Anyone knows why it needs a reboot?
haku
Hi everybody Same problem here. Completely uninstalling the program (version 1.15.309 and I mean completely: with Revo Uninstaller utility), downloading the latest version setup (1.16.317), restarting Windows, then re-installing the program took care of the problem. No real reason for it though. Just a detail: first I tried to install the new version over the old one and it refused to do so on the moment that the main program (speccy.exe) would have been written to the folder. Oh, and yes: I re-installed on another partition. All this may not mean anything particular - but I still would like to know what caused the mishap (only on one of my machines). Final detail: I had just updated all official Microsoft updates for my XP SP3 OS (I do this manually once a month). Well, that's it. Bye haku
