Moderators Nergal Posted November 1, 2009 Moderators Share Posted November 1, 2009 Before you posted it, did check the Ccleaner License to make sure you were not breaking it? Piriform grants you a limited non-exclusive licence to use this software for any purpose, including commercial applications and redistribute it freely, subject to the following restrictions:. . . 2. You must not alter the software, user licence or installer in any way. . . . 5. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, derive the source code of or modify [or create derivative work from] the program. Did you consult with the Developers about your intentions before you jumped in with a reworked installer? seems to me like one or both of these would be a big reason for it, though I am just guessing. ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Disk4mat
I mean no offense when I say this but... I downloaded the installer and found only the CC executable, lang files, winapp.ini and an uninstaller. Im not sure what the point of the uninstaller is. It probably does violate CC's license as Nergal indicated.
fireryone
Though I agree it probably does at least break agreement 5.... Then so does ninite mentioned here: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=24864 As it also repackages CC and many other programs into one big installer. So Panarchy it would be worth using the contact form on the site to get approval of your "fan made" installer. http://www.piriform.com/contact fireryone
