Hi guys ;)

When I Log In to say> "Pirifom Forums" I always enter my (user-name & password) manually.

I herd that you could "copy & past" user-names & passwords into the required boxes from a notepad text file? would this be safe to do?

Do you want them stored anywhere other than in the "little gray cells"?

Yeah but it would be quicker to just type them than to have to open a notepad file and then copy the pass and then the username. Why not just have whatever browser you use save the login info, or just have CCleaner not remove its cookie(what I do).

I think because for quite a few people logging into this forum has to be done each time. I am one of them.

I have tried everything I know and still have to sign in.

It's the only forum I have to do this with

That's strange.

I'm automatically logged in every time unless I delete the Piriform cookie.

I'm able to automatically log in every time to all forums I watch as long as I don't clear their cookies.

This site is completely unpredictable for me.

Usually I'm not auto logged in, and that's the way I prefer it, although the wand is active in Opera, and the username/password are already there to enter with Firefox.

Sometimes I'm logged straight in, and my immediate thought is I mustn't have logged out, but the "your last visit" time and date seems to confirm that I had logged out. I've tried to find a way to make this consistent, but still looking.

You might find if you "copy+past" you will have great difficulty. Try "copy+paste" instead that might work

I never have a problem with this forum remembering my cookies. I am always automatically logged in. The only place I have an issue is with the FF addons page. I am always logged out on that page even though I do not delete the cookies and check the box to remember me on the site. I have that problem on all browsers on all machines with that site.

I used to have the same problem hazelnut, but I found a way around this login problem. Just chose a forum, in my case I chose "Lounge"and save page as a bookmark (as a bookmark in my case because I use Firefox). Now every time click on the bookmark it takes me directly to the Lounge and I am logged in. Try it.

I thought it was a small shout-out to the online meme of "Copypasta". I need to get out more. <_<

Fantasy is the celebration of what we no longer are: individuals certain of our meaningfulness in a meaningful world. The wish-fulfillment that distinguishes fantasy from other genres is not to be the all-conquering hero, but to live in a meaningful world. The fact that such worlds are enchanted worlds, worlds steeped in magic, simply demonstrates the severity of our contemporary crisis.

OK help needed :)

I'm using Firefox 3 and would appreciate some guidance with "settings" for Firefox.

Below are the current settings I have.

Tools> Options> Privacy> Private Data> [YES]> Always clear my private data when I close Firefox

Settings>

[YES] Browsing History

[YES] Download History

[YES] Saved Form and Search History

[YES] Cache

[YES] Cookies

[YES] Offline Website Data

[YES] Saved Passwords

[YES] Authenticated Sessions

You have save psswords set to yes thats fine. Now when you log in to a site you should get prompted by FF to save the login info select yes. The login info will now be remebered so even if you come to the forum and you are logged out the login info will be filled in for you and all you have to do is press "login".

For Tools> Options> Privacy> Private Data> if you select yes make sure you have not selected to have saved passwords deleted.

Hey Anthony  , I don't have passwords set to yes (save)

I have all settings set to [yes] for> (Always clear my private data when I close Firefox)

I need to know how to adjust my settings in "Firefox" to allow "cookies" & whatever is needed... so as I don't need to manually enter my user-name & password for "Piriform Forums" and other sites that I trust.

I realize that CCleaner is going to have an impact' with regards to what it will clean when it is run... so I also need to know how to configure CCleaner as well

Sorry' but I'm a bit confused and worried about making changes with the settings... dose keeping "history" come into this equation?

I'm no expert  , and as always' any helpful replies and advice is greatly appreciated.

OK I mis read the post than. I see what you mean know.

Even so what I said still goes if you want to keep your login info for the sites.

You need to go into FF settings and allow cookies. Than you need to set the "Clear Private Data" to not delete cookies. You can also set FF to save Passwords so even if you delete a cookies to a site you want to be logged into the login info will be automatically filled in and all you do is click login or OK on the site. Lastly go into CCleaner options and find the "cookies" feature. Once there move the cookies from the sites you want to keep from the "cookies to delete" to "cookies to keep". Now when you run CCleaner it will not clean the cookies you moved.

Ok Anthony ;)

I followed your instructions and I don't need to Log In to "Piriform Forums" even after closing Firefox as long as I don't Log Out of Piriform.

Is that the way it works?... don't log out?

If I do Log Out of Piriform... I still need to Log In again when I return.

Now the big test

Seeing if I can do all this Sandboxed?

Ok I can Log Out of Piriform and then be automatically logged in again as long as I close Firefox before trying to return to Piriform.

If I Log Out and go to say... my home page' and then return to Piriform without closing Firefox, I need to log back in again.

EDIT: I didn't have Password> Remember Passwords checked in Firefox.

I'm still working... trying to sort this out LOL

Yes that's the way it should work. Logging out clears the cookie. That's what was happening to you when you ran CCleaner and didn't save the Piriform cookie.

If you set FF to remember passwords than when you log out of Piriform Forums and return you will be logged out but the log in info will be filled in the fields and all you have to do is press ok/login.

When saving the password in FF a pop up bar will appear asking if you want FF to remember the pass word. Select "remember" and the info will be remembered. DO NOT do this in Sandboxie because the info will be lost when you close Sandboxie and delete the sand box. Do this outside of Sandboxie than once the info is saved you can use Sandboxie with FF all you want.

Well after trying a few different settings, this is what works for me.

Firefox3> Tools> Options> Privacy-Tab

t2141_FFSettingsPrivacy.jpg

On the Security-Tab> (Remember passwords for sites) Enabled.

I don't seem to need "CCleaner" to keep any cookies

EDIT:

On the (Exceptions - Cookies) list I have 3 sites listed as (Always Allow), I removed them from the list and don't seem to need them listed.

Also I changed Cookies> (Keep until they expire) to Cookies> (Keep until I close Firefox)
