Moderators rridgely Posted April 3, 2008 Moderators Share Posted April 3, 2008 I found this pretty interesting: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en Basically its just a pdf with info about sp3. Seems it wont be anything all that special but it will be nice to not have to download tons of hotfixes on new installs.

Icedrake
Is the official version of XP Service Pack 3 out? Or is this just a beta or something?
Coronagold
Is the official version of XP Service Pack 3 out? Or is this just a beta or something? Ah, so this is what you want Foxit Reader for, eh? I think SP3 is available to "businesses" April 29th. I'm guessing that it will be available for all to download from Microsofts' site a bit later. SP3 will be available as an automatic update in early June.....I think. Sort of. I'm in no rush to get it. I'll wait for all the rantings and ravings to die down. YoKenny
I have been using SP3 on my XP Pro system since it came out of beta and became RC1. I guess I'll have to figure out how to un-install it before the June Update cycle. Moderators Andavari Posted April 24, 2008 Moderators Share Posted April 24, 2008 I guess I'll have to figure out how to un-install it before the June Update cycle. I'll probably just do a fresh OS install once it's out, however I'm going to download the full ISO image file of it. I may just for once have to make a slipstreamed XP install DVD with SP3, and hopefully figure out exactly how to make some other software auto-install with it. Coronagold
Reformat? Bleagh. I haven't reformatted since 2004 (because of an nVidea issue). And before that was around 2001. Back when I had my old PowerMac 8500 I was reformatting on a daily basis. I tore that machine up just to see how much punishment it (I) could take. That was back in the day when dialog boxes didn't have Cancel or Close options. Good ol' OS 7.3.2.

CTskifreak
There are no significant changes....correct? Just a few more features most users won't need on a regular basis. It is really just a convenient way to have all the patches...right? AJ

While it is more secure than XP, there are, currently, few third-party companies producing protection for Vista. XP may be leakier but there are at least lots of companies trying to plug its holes. Don't do it. you can test it for me & let me know if test ok not like to be the crash test & crash my P.C. & I think it come with spyware. davey
HotDog, I am one of the few who can understand what your interpreters are saying. Some interpreters are very good and some are not so good. Please don't report from some questionable blog sites that purport to be news. These are the kind of sites that cater to the extreme right or left on whatever topic they are covering. Sure they get a lot of hits and sell a lot of ad space but their content is valueless. Some of these sites use the title "Inquirer" and are very misleading just to make a lot of advertising money.
