Freeshare Image Hosting closing down

I really liked the public image gallery on Freeshare...

I think that's exactly what's gonna kill TinyPic.com in the end as there's always some adult content posted on it. As soon as someone see's their little kid browsing through that content "the s**t is gonna hit the fan."

This is all I see JD, and that's as far as my interest goes, and its a big improvement on some others, inbcluding xs.to, which has big intrusive banner ads top and bottom.

Not that page Dennis, that one is clean. Its the page your pic is on, ie the one everyone will see if they click the pic to see it full size. I would post a screenshot but the content would be breaking forum rules. Needless to say there are some very graphic adult flash ads, along with adult ads and fake Rolex ads across the top.

My apologies JD, all I can see with Hosts etc, is a clean page.

I didn't actually get what you meant, but I see what you mean now. People will be accessing that without any ad blocking.

Thanks for pointing that out. It seems obvious with hindsight, buts it's something I wouldn't have thought to do.

I'll do that check myself now.

Edit: I'll see if I can edit that post.

I've checked that ImageBam with flash enabled and hosts disabled. Thankfully looks OK.

Imagebam looks pretty good actually. Though having said that it seems to have something to do with, or be part of, the site that had the dodgy ads (its linked to on their front page), admittedly it has very few ads though and none of a dodgy nature (yet?).

Hi Andavari B)

I agree 100% ;)

However if you do find an offensive picture on FreeShare.us, you have the option to report it.

Even desktop wallpaper sites have some degree of adult content "soft porn".

Yeah even good ole deviantart.com does sometimes as I was once searching for some program icons and low and behold there was a picture of someone's bum.

I checked that site again, and although not of a sexual nature, I found a few of those really irritating ads that jump about telling you you've won a laptop etc.

If you even try to close one of these down, you find can't get out of them. I've hit one of these before, and I'm assuming these may be the same. So tread carefully.

Still looking for an Imageshare type site.

Hi Dennis B)

Like you' I'm looking for a Image share type of site.

I've just been checking out Photo Bucket & Tiny Pic, Photo bucket seems to run a bit smoother "quicker".

I'm still undecided

I don't think it matters what "free" Image hosting site we choose to use, there are still going to be adds.

I agree with you craig, but this thread has been a good example of what type of ads can be on these sites.

Here I was unwittingly exposing people, even young people, to some pretty unsavoury stuff simply because I didn't think to check the site without Hosts file or with Flash Block disabled.

You live and learn.

Well you'll probably be pleased to know then all I could find on that imagecave site was Google ads ;)

I've found what's on some of those free image hosts is all up to the exact wording of their terms of service and what is or isn't allowed. Some of them have holes in their terms of service that allow for adult content due to how it's worded.
