As far as I'm concerned, Windows 8 is just as good as windows 7 (better at resource usage, actually) because the desktop enviornment is left intact. You can use it just the same as win7, with the exception of the start menu (something I don't use much myself, I launch most programs from run/icons)
I'm not happy with having every icon or associated icon being buried within a desktop Library of sorts. And the real problem is finding your XP equivalents which are thrown about just to make funny. W7 didn't do that too much. W8 has it in spades.

Ugh. I've had W7 for what, 2 years? It works great and now they want to trash it for some Metrosexual AOL-looking POS. They were happy with XP for +10 years. They can't give W7 that much grace?

Why won't certain links let you copy & paste on this forum? Why, Santa Claus? Why?

FF13 sorta has what Opera had years ago but now in a very limited way. (The multi-screened New Tab Start page.) I find it kind of annoying as I've got all my popular bookmarks on their own toolbar. But I have the option to turn it off. So no biggie.

My PC's ready for it but my ISP isn't. Maybe if I shut down & unplug all connections for 5 minutes and replug & restart, my modem may pick up some internal ISP update that addresses that problem. I know if I contact my ISP and cry "Whaaa whaaa!" to them I really doubt they're gonna lift a finger to address the issue.
But they're a good size company and I'm sure they're aware of the switch. Right now my connection provides ip6 to ip4 conversion.

The 1st posted vid probably needs a certain codex.
Heh, cute video. Perfect song for it too.

I remember uninstalling QuickTime using the Advanced option. I made sure I only clicked on any file with .qt in its name. Took me about 45 minutes to sort through all it found.
And yes, deleting 'shared' files can easily screw many things up.

Sooner or later you're going to realize this is not pre-2008. Hopefully sooner.

I've been using Ghostery for at least 6 months. It's a good add-on.

Is that like Ghostery?

I'm not a big fan of "Too big to fail" businesses.

You people find the weirdest unknown stuff on PCs.

Ah, the "shredded underwear" mode. I used that a few times on my old XP machine. I did notice some quirkiness afterwards. Too many shared files removed I guess.

Weird. I searched psr and that app came up. Neat toy.

One thing to keep in mind, don't ever buy anything at military prices.

Remember the Google Toilet.

I can't believe I'm reading this.

I'm sure it'll also affect things like MapQuest and Google Earth etc. so remember how to turn it back on.

Hazelnut changed the thread title. I think Nodles is right. I believe only Mods have permission to change thread titles. (It kinda makes sense, I've noticed that on many boards.)
And thanks for all your replies and links everyone.

My friend had downloaded Sophos for Mac the other day. She did a scan and after over 24 hours went by it was still scanning. Somehow she was able to 'force' it off. She still couldn't uninstall it. This is her reply today...
Just talked to Apple and they run a debug on my computer every day so I don't need antivirus. He said to run CCleaner to get the antivirus programs off my computer.Does a Mac version of CCleaner even exist?

SuperFast, you constantly mention having "hundreds" of tabs up on your browser. Can you please post a pic of that? Just for laughs? Thanks.
