  1. If you actually told us what you were having issues with then we may be able to help you to get it doing what you expected it to do.

  2. Ok this is from memory because I'm on my phone.

After Health Check does it's analyze bit click on the 'Security' box - bottom right - and untick everything. Then go back to the main screen and carry on.

You will have to do that every time that you run health check if you want to avoid the software updates.

Alternatively use Custom Clean which will not update other software. (Unless you specifically use the seperate Software Updater tool).

To make Custom Clean the default go to- Options>Settings and change the CCleaner Home Screen.

  3. Is CCleaner able to delete the entries itself?

That would appear to be a webserver, possibly running Windows Server 2008?

None of those entries should cause any problems with the running of your machine.

If your machine is not having problems then it's probably best to leave them alone.

We don't reccommend using the Registry Cleaner on a regular basis, it's meant as a tool for use if you are having issues.
Running a Reg Cleaner will not make your computer run faster or save any noticable space.
It's more likely to cause problems, (especially with Windows 10).
We regularly see posts here from people who have broken their computer OS by using the Registry Editor indiscriminately.

Having said that I found this in an old post elsewhere about the same subject:
No guarantees that you won't lose functionality if you remove the registry entries in this way, they have been given elevated status for a reason - If you chose to do it then it's entirely at your own risk.

Within CCleaner, select 'Open in Regedit'. Right click on the key entry and select 'Permissions' in the context menu. From there, go to 'Advanced' and take ownership of the key [search for your user if need be] -> check both 'Replace owner on subcontainers and objects' and 'Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object'. Under the permissions for each user, give each one full control (to make it quick and easy).

Now right click on the key and select delete -- you'll be able to delete the entry.

  4. Some users are having a few issues with v5.64 that are being addressed for the next update.

If you are one of the affected users then we suggest installing and using the previous version, v5.63.7540, which can be found under 'Older Versions' on the right of: https://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

If you have CCleaner Pro then you may need to re-register v5.63 after installing.
If you find you need to do this then simply:
Go to Options>About, click on 'Upgrade to Pro', enter your registered name and key, click on 'Register'.

  5. Hopefully the developers can make use of your log, I'll flag your post to the staff.

  6. This is an old post from before Easy Clean / Health Check.

However your issue seems to have been with a setting in Chrome itself and nothing to do with CCleaner.

    But to be sure.

Are you using Health Check or are you using Custom Clean?

Ticking or unticking catagories is part of Custom Clean and only works in Custom Clean.

Health Check will always do it's own thing it will not take any notice of your ticks/unticks.

  7. Just to check, you are not using XP are you?

If not then you could try downloading it again just in case something went wrong with the download itself, but-

  9. You should not put your email address in plain sight. Doing so leaves you open to spam and possible identity theft.

Support are very busy at the moment, you will be in a queue and they will get to you in time.

I have flagged your problem to  the Staff who will investigate your support ticket problem.

  10. It may be a different issue with v5.64 then, some users have reported problems with installing v.5.64.

As you have XP then you can't simply download an older version from Filehippo, because they are the standard versions so won't install on XP.

I happen to have a couple of older version Slim installers on my laptop, I'll PM them to you. Look for a notification on at the letter icon on the toolbar above.

Give those a go and see if they will install for you.

Another option would be to go to the builds page again and download the Portable version of v5.64.
Being portable it does not have an installer.

Unfortunately with XP being end-of-life you are going to increasingly encounter this problem of new software not being able to install or not running.

  11. The 'Standard' installer stopped working on XP some time ago, but don't worry you can still get it.

To install CCleaner on XP you need to download the 'Slim' installer from the builds page here: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds

Then in your downloads folder double click on ccsetup564_slim.exe to install CCleaner.

(The Slim installer does not contain the bundled offers; it's those offers which use new technology that stops the Standard installer from working on XP. CCleaner itself is exactly the same).

Once you have it installed go to Options>About and click on 'Upgrade to Pro'.
That will open a window where you can enter your registered name and key, then click 'Register'.

Please note that CCleaner version 5.64 (the current version) is the last version of CCleaner that will be able to work on XP systems.
    See these for more information.

  12. The 'deprecated.cookie' is a simple text file that contains the text:

"Cookies are no longer stored in files.  Please use Internet*Cookie* APIs to access cookies."

It does nothing except sit there as a reminder to developers not to store cookies as files anymore.

It's under consideration to whitelist it in CCleaner so that it doesn't show up anymore. https://ideas.ccleaner.com/31
As said above you can do that yourself in Custom Clean by making it an 'exclude'.

  13. Sorry don't know.

I noticed the changes because I wrote my own cleaner for Firefox so CC never saw it - until after the changes when CC suddenly started finding FFx stuff that mine hadn't cleaned.

TBH my cleaner logs you out of all websites/fora as well, but that's what I want it to do.

If you're stuck I could try and see which bits of my cleaner does the actual logging out, but I'd bet it's one of those session entries.

  14. If your computer is working as expected then it's probably not worth keeping more than the last one, maybe two.

Anything older than the last Windows update may break your computer if restored. Win Update usually changes some registry entries.

You have read the above about not running reg cleaner on a regular basis?

  15. You were simply being told by other users that the current documentation is out of date. There is no need to have a rant at those users.

2 hours ago, Gary in Texas said:

First, you know nothing about how I will use the information, or share it.

As a retired CFO, Director of Finance, Controller, documentation has been one of my secrets to success.

You are aware that the documentation is copyright and you will need permission to reproduce and/or share it? (And should have got permission to copy it).

  16. Duplicate threads merged.

Whilst I've not seen that particular one reported, some users are having problems with v5.64 not installing.
The developers are working on it.

If v5.63 is still working for you then stick with that until a new version is released.
If you need to reinstall v5.63 (or an earlier version) then you can find it on the right of the page here: https://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

  17. Do you mean your Activity History / Timeline ?

CCleaner does not currently clear your Activity Timeline, you will need to do that in Windows itself: Settings>Privacy>Permissions & History>Clear History.

While you are there you may want to turn it off so it doesn't save your activity in future? (And doesn't send it all to Microsoft).

  18. As nergal says, other apps will use IE's storage locations for temporary files.

Plus CCleaner will always find a particular IE file called 'deprecated.cookie'. (C:\Users\.....\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCookies\deprecated.cookie).
As soon as CCleaner removes that file Windows will recreate it, so it will always be found.
If you are using Custom Clean then you can make that file an exclude so that Custom Clean will then ignore it.

  19. I recall that Firefox did change where some things were stored last year, as well as adding some new locations.
It may be that the information that you want to keep is being saved elsewhere now, and CCleaner is (always was?) cleaning that location.

I can't remember them all but as your issue seems connected with sessions then look at: 'sessionstore', 'sessionstore-backups', 'sessionCheckpoints.json', in appdata\roaming.
I'd also look at various entries in 'cache2\*' in appdata\local.

If you run CCleaner in debug mode it will create a logfile in the CCleaner folder which you can open in a text editor to see just what has been cleaned, that could help pinpoint the entries that you want to keep.

  20. That is simply an incorrect message being shown by Health Check. (The developers are aware and will fix it for the next version).
It IS connecting to the server, but isn't finding any software updates.

I've tested it myself and saw the following:

When the seperate tool Software Updater reports that your applications are up to date HC instead wrongly says 'Unable to reach the server'.
When there is an application to update Software Updater says so, and so does HC - So HC is obviously able to reach the server to check but is giving the wrong message if nothing is found.

So HC is doing it's job - But it's showing the wrong message when there are no software updates found.

Simply ignore it until they fix the message.
