  1. Have you tried the 'Secure Deletion' feature of CCleaner? Were the files still recoverable after this?
  2. I have been using CCleaner since the early versions of 1.x. After upgrading to version 2.x I noticed that it runs very much longer than any previous versions, and that on all my computers (all DELL machines). See the full specs of this computer (hardware, drivers, software, patches) in the attachment. P.S. I did an in-place upgrade, not uninstall/reinstall.
  3. Comodo Firewall Pro v3.0.14.276 Release Notes: http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/CFP...ease_notes.html Download: http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/dow...d_firewall.html P.S. the new installer is only 9MB compared to the previous installers (32MB).
  4. Welcome to the CC Forum. How are you doing the update? Download and run the installer? Make sure CC is not running when doing the upgrade install. If the above does not fix the issue, what exactly happens when you try? Error message?
  5. Welcome to the CC Forum. This is not a list of programs that need to be uninstalled; it just gives you a list of programs that can be uninstalled. There are also some items that already have been uninstalled, but have left remains behind (to be deleted). Don't uninstall anything that you don't want to uninstall!
  6. There is also a new uninstaller: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewConten...rnalId=tn_14157
  7. How did you uninstall CCleaner - from Add/Remove Programs?
  8. Try to do it after a reboot, or in Safe Mode (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222).
  9. The only way I could get my XP system to boot after the install, was by going into Safe Mode and uninstall it. Tried the updated version 3.0.13.268 with the same result. I am currently without a firewall, as all definitions from 2.4 are gone.
  10. Unless you exempt it: Options | Cookies | move the ones you want to keep to the right side.
  11. I don't know that specific cleaner, but I find it strange that they number bytes with 3 decimal places! Maybe just to make it look bigger?
  12. Did you uninstall Norton before installing AVG? These two could possibly conflict with each other. Make sure that Norton is 100% removed from your system, or it will likely crash again.
  13. You could try http://pcdecrapifier.com/
  14. 4,096.000 bytes = 4KB. That sounds like one single file. Does that ATF cleaner provide information on what exactly it cleaned?
  15. You can also subscribe to the winapp2 thread, so you will get an email notification when an update is available.
  16. Very happy to have the "slim" version back. However, I have always used the "basic" version, as I install CCleaner on different language versions of Windows. Is there a chance that we also get the "basic" version back some day? Thanks!
  17. It's in winapp2.ini - see this topic.
  18. Anyone else noticed that CCleaner 2.x seems to need a lot more time than 1.x for doing the same thing? Try running 2.x twice - it takes an awful lot of time to find nothing the second time! P.S. has it been built with all the optimizations possible in C++ (or C#)?
  19. A question for you who were having problems with 2.0.0.6: did you try to run Firefox in Safe Mode (without any plugins)? This is always the first thing I try when I have a problem with certain softwares (like Firefox or Outlook). To start Firefox in Safe Mode: Start -> Mozilla Firefox -> Firefox (Safe Mode).
  20. Regarding Sun Java (Runtime Environment); make sure that you have the latest version installed, as previous versions may have security flaws. Also, when you install a new version, you have to manually uninstall earlier versions, as the JRE installer doesn't do that.
  21. Before step 4 - cleaning the registry - I would definitely make a registry backup, using ERUNT.
  22. Applications like Office leave some information behind in the registry, and CCleaner is led to think that it's still installed. I have the same with previous Office versions, and I just ignore it.
  23. That does definitely not sound like being caused by CCleaner. At this stage I would suggest that you check your system for malware, then post a HJT log in this forum.
  24. All previous versions did very much "phone home", so I don't believe they would suddenly stop that. Since the original poster did not provide a download link, I can't test it.
