  1. Thank you,That's very kind of you.Damn this forum is full of good kind people!
  2. You are bound to be a special person as I have read a lot of your posts and you are always so helpful. And I appreciate your Happy wish. And not that I really care but I'm not "in his 80's and still posting." I'm in my 70 and hope to continue. Actually I'll be 76 the first of December, and that's tomorrow in the states. I think where you are the birthday has already past. Maybe you 7 finger mixed with your 8 finger and that's what came out. I'm trying hard to make this a joke and assure you I'm not at all offended. Will you accept that please?

    PC Freeze

I will do that as of now. I only run Threat Fire as I read on a forum, maybe this one, that it was a good catcher. Win Patrol I like but for now will turn off and if I need it on a one on one basis I can turn it on temporally and back off. Thank you so much for you help.

    PC Freeze

I checked the things you mentions and looked at the "Problem at Idle" question. I looked also at the Admin stuff and the worse thing with errors was my LAN. I have a wireless Router with three PC. Earlier I wrote about a strange window coming up and you replied to me about that. Did have a lot of warnings and errors about Dhcp. Read about that but don't know really what I'm reading. I've decided to reformat and start over. I think that may be best for a beginner. I had to pay Gateway 20 bucks extra for a disk for restore, check for problems in startup, and one or two others. I have used the startup repair a lot lately so that was worth it. I have a good backup I think of all the stuff I put on there. Will need to update a lot of drivers as this machine is old. There is a Driver Disk to restore drivers and check for update, (was on the 20 dollar disk) so maybe it was a bargain. With all the problems about freezing I'm deleting and starting over. Maybe it's December 1 2010 in some parts of the work but for here tomorrow is my big day I was shooting for. Now I'm shooting for 6 more months, trying to be conservative. Thank you for all the good remarks you made to me. I appreciate all the people that have made contact by message with me. This forum has some fine people.
  5. I replied but don't see it. Thank you and may your days be happy also.
  6. Thank you, it's tomorow for the big event, at least in the US.

    PC Freeze

Andavari-- Lets call this off. I don't have it upstairs to follow your instructions. I downloaded each of them and the same thing happens. I have the file IOBuster on this system although it is not on start up. When I try to open it, IOBuster insist on it opening in that. I sure you know what it is, similar to Recuva but expensive. Don't know how to keep if from opening there. I hate to move the program from my PC as it helped me save 288 Power Point File that I deleted from a CD.I don't have a serial number or anything to reinstall it. Got it from a gimmick that came with some Ink Cartridges. So let's pass on this problem. I was afraid that something technical would come up and I wouldn't have a clue. I'll just keep it in Sleep or Off and live with the problem. Sure appreciate you answering so quickly.

    PC Freeze

My PC has decided to freeze when just being idle. As long as I'm using it works just fine. If I leave it idle for an hour or more and come back to use is, nothing moves. That does mean everything. Con Alt Del means nothing, no mouse curser move, nothing. So a hard shut down and it wants to scan hard drive(s). I only have one hard drive. Anyway it scans and finds no problems. I have a program in the PC that allows me to check for problems on Hard Drive. I can run it and if finds no problem and indicates all is well. If I put the PC to sleep and back on all is well. Even after a 4 or 5 hour sleep. The problem seem to be when it's on and inactive. I used air to clean it, left the side cover off for couple days thinking it may be getting hot. It has two fans, one at the rear blowing out and one over the processor with shield to the side cover blowing out. Speed Fan 4.42 shows the following temperatures: GPU 145F; CPU 104F; Local 107F; Remote 2 206F; Core 0 82F; and Core 1 86F. My System is Vist Home Prem CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 186GHz Ram 2.0GB Graphics: 256 GeForce 7650 GS Hard Drive 488GB Western Digital It's almost 5 years old and this is the first major problem other than myself. Would someone please offer a hint as to what they think and what I should do. If, "Thrown it away", that would be fine. It's a Gateway by the way. First one I've owned. I don't like it at all. Thanks in advance.
  10. Andavari I found the solution to my problem and fixed it. I don't understand why it just recently came about. I have to have a Browser set as Default, one or the other. I've tried it both ways and it works but without a Browser set it doesn't work. Now I know that one has not been set for months and months because if I open Firefox it wants me to know it's not the Default. Just the opposite with IE. So my problem is gone. Thank you so much for the help. I'm using IE 8 and maybe that is why the options windows were different if you are not on IE 8.
  11. I use Windows Mail, the program that came with this Vista. I use both IE and Firefox. Like Firefox better but some pages won't open in Firefox, not many but some. I can't get to the same place as you showed, similar but not there. I did find something in the Mail section that may be the problem. It is blanked out for some reason. I have neither browser set as the default. Haven't had any problem with this since I started using Firefox, years ago. The box marked OPTIONS is from the Tools in my Mail. Please see the two attachment to help you figure out what I'm trying to tell you. Brain is old, so is reason-ability.
  12. Now I have found something strange as I. When there is a link posted in an email and I left click it I get the "can't do" thing, (see attachment). I can get there by right click and save shortcut and paste in in a browser. Can't remember just what now but the same message come up sometime when I click and icon to open it, not every time but sometime. This happened recently. I have had no crashes or lockups recently. I went back to my oldest restore point for help without success. This PC is a 5 year old (can't bear to call the name) that has been a bear from day one. Fortunately I've had some friends that can usually help me. Unfortunately they are all deceased or in a Nursing Home and don't even remember what a Computer is! Don't mean to me cruel but it true. So I'm calling on the good people of Piriform Community for help.
  13. I also would like to see that! But five more years is a very long time if you are near 81.
  14. I hope I make it Dennis. Feel better today than I have in months. Most bones are healed, knee ligments repaired, off crutches and out of wheelchair. What else could and old man want?. I'm very fortunate that I don't have disgestive problems like a lot of my old friends. Seems that comes with age on some people. Thanks for coming in, glad to hear from you.
  15. Good to know I'm not getting into Hot Water. Your are right, as I connect the Laptop only when we go out. Grouch has a Table PC in the back of the house and I have a Desktop in my junk room. They stay connected. Her car has a AC converter built in and I take the Laptop with us, Can usually find and "opening" to check mail and stuff. Thanks for your quick reply. Made the Post, had my lunch and back to the PC with a reply already, just like you were waiting for some idiot to ask a fool question!!! Thank you Ma'm for the information.
  16. I have a wireless network for the house only. Three PCs on it. Has been connected for about one year and no problems. Just last week each time I start my Desktop PC I get a small window indicating a new something or the other is there and asked for and I have to check OK to get it go go away. Is someone trying or connecting to my system? I've taken my Laptop in my Auto and about 250 feet away from the router the signal drops off. I live in a rural area and there are no neighbors anywhere near, maybe a 1/4 mile away. I've attached a picture. Blanked out the MAC Address because I don't know anything about this and thought I maybe should. If not and it would Help, I'll furnish it. I'm just not with this stuff as much as I should be. Hey, start getting the candles ready. If I make 27 more days the big 76 years of age arrives.
  17. Happy birthday. Keep trying to 'think' and 'act' 60 because one day you may realize you are feeling much older than you are. Let's hope it don't happen but for most folk it does. Keep enjoying the young feeling. It only comes around once you know.

Your spelling matters not. The information you gave is just what I was looking for, and I thank you very much. Have a good day, or night which ever applies.

Other than the email check, mine is exactly the same. I don't see an option for changing the posts order. If it's there I'm more blind than I thought. Again thank you for answering. Maybe one of the Wheels of the Forum will see this and help me change it. See you are posing from Japan. Lived there for three in the 60s, Misawa-shi, Aomori.

That's exactly what I meant to say. The oldest is the first to appear, then the most recent is on the last page, like 1-16 pages and the newest post is on page 16. Some of your suggestions are not listed on the drop down if I'm correct. I'm not very well versed on a PC, so please look over errors.See the picture attached. And thanks for the reply.

It did help, both you and redhawk. I make a couple of changes but what I was really looking for is a way to change the "first to last" to "last to first" when I open the form. Like there are 16 or more pages on Lounge and my page opens with the very first one. I'd like to see the last one instead. Bet it's there somewhere and I just can't see it. One example of age fellows and ladies, eyes play tricks, brain goes to sleep, and more probably. If you would help with this, I'll shut up!

I cannot find the place to go for changing my profile. Seriously I've looked it over and over. Could it be my age? I'm posting a picture of this particular page fo Piriform. I can't see any where I can get to my profile. Help please.
  23. I have a small Tractor referred here as a Garden Tractor, 25hp. I have 6 acres of space so have to have something besides my back and hands to work it! I was raised on a farm and remember Horses pulling he implements. Here people that farm for a living have to have hundreds of acres to make enough to live on. Cotton is the local crop.
  24. Good information. I still don't know of anyone here (this part of the US) that grows these things and have never seen them in a Grocery Store.
  25. Fluffy my regret is that I'm now to old to do the things I want to. Like the growing things. I can hardly get on and off the Tractor. When it come time to change implements, have to ask for help from neighbor. So last year was the end. I did plant a few rows of some things we especially like. The rest is in Red Top Cane. Maybe you know of this and maybe not. It is really an animal feed but grews well here. I'm not familiar with "Broad beans or runner beans." Runner beans I can guess but Broad beans has me puzzled. There is probably such here and called by a different name. Enjoyed your reply.
