  1. Look below "TheFireInTheSky's" avatar. It says "aka neighboring". Well I should have noticed but never do look there. When seeing something like this again I'll try to remember. You didn't get a positive answer I see, just a "around the bush type."
  2. Well it's still going. Why I thought it might be you is the apparent difference in opinions of CC. There is a new post Optimizing the Registry. Same characters, same old stuff.
  3. Did you by chance post there as neighbor*** and if you did you caused him to shut up at lease. He never gave an answer, just referred to the search for other people having problems using Reg Cleaners. At least some people didn't let him get away with it.
  4. "you should ask him how he knows it does this and what it does to damage the windows installation." That's exactly why I posted! I'm not a PC person at all, know nothing, see nothing. Thought someone with some expertise might set him straight.
  5. The Post went: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- d_may wrote: I recently ran CC Cleaner and where I had logged in to a web site, now I have to log in again. Does running this cleaner remove the log in information so that a person has to log in again? d_may It removed your cookies, so every site you log into you'll have to again... Using a product like CC Cleaner can damage your Windows installation, and should not be used unless you understand exactly what it's doing." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The worst is the post has been read 56 time already, so a lot of those people will believe it also.
  6. http://delltalk.us.dell.com/supportforums/...ard.id=sw_other A guy that answers many questions on the Dell Forum, and usually right on, indicated today that CC and other cleaners do bad things. Maybe one of you guys with more knowledge than I can straighten him out?
  7. Didn't know about that. Do you see much difference in the Vista version? Wonder how I would find the new version. Maybe a Site somewhere that posts old out of date Programs will pick it up.
  8. Been using it for years now. Never seems to have been a problem. I have used RegCleaners, all of them that I could find. Some are gimmicks, some are great. But after running any of them I then ran XP Reg Scrub and it will always find an entry or two. If you do download and use it, try the Miscl and Help section. Might be surprised at the information and tweaks you find.

    Router

Thanks to both. It's quiet interesting. I'm going to have to do some research to try to find a user manual. According to the data in the Router (see at ch) it appears the Firewall is disabled! Do you read it as such? I'm really smart! Forgot the atch. It's there not.

I have the Blue Router. Page won't open see attachment: Please disregard my reply to your last post. I didn't read it proper and was putting the wrong dns in. Thanks a lot for the information. Would never have made it without your help.

    Router

Thanks for the reply. I have been all over this thing looking for info. Network Places, Control Panel, everywhere I can think of. The brand id Zonet. Probably a throw away type. Paid $24.95 for it somewhere and have forgotten where. Had it long time before installing. A friend did that. No paperwork at all. "I can see on the Router the following: Zonet Cable/DSL broadband Router, Auto-MDIX Switch, NAT SOHO Firewall, model ZSR0104CP, with 4-Port switch." That's all the information I can furnish. Another friend, guessing, told me to put the gateway number into IE and it would bring it up. That make any sense?

    Router

I have a Cable Modem with a Router behind that connected to two PCs. Someone else hooked things up for me and this someone is no longer here. I want to look into the Router Setting just to see what's there and what it contains. All is working well not but still would like to see. I find no way to get there. Nothing that I know will get me to where I want to go. Asking for direction/advice as to how I might do this. Thanks
  14. I got 868 first time, much less each time after. If the dude hits the dog mound he'll bounce further. http://www.lauterspiele.de/?redirect=294
  15. I believe WinPatrol will remove items from start-up or temporarily disable them. I use the Pro Version but am sure that the Free Version will also work that way.
  16. You can stop all the contacting each time you start the PC. Use your Firewall to let it connect once. After that block it! Did that couple weeks ago and I was able to get the Updates this last Tuesday. Seems as if once you let it verify it doesn't need to again unless they send an Update to the subject program. Maybe then.

    Macromedia Flash 8.

Learned something new today. That works for my PC also. Saves lot of time. Thanks for the info. Appreciate that.

    Macromedia Flash 8.

Eldmannen I have downloaded the HOSTS file and put it where it supposed to be. That seems to take care of the changing banners. I still get still shots of advertising. Maybe the Hosts file stops the moving ones. I have something that is bothersome though. When I'm clicking links on a Web Page and going back to previous link It sticks with "Connecting to 127.0.0" and it's hard to get it past there. I'm wondering if this is because of the Hosts file. If you should know about this, would you give suggestions to correct it?

    Macromedia Flash 8.

Interesting software. Found a bushel of problems with the Registry. Took a chance and let it repair. Flash Player 8 will not run, still! The software is a bit pricey but may go for it after I if it messes anything up. Thanks.

    Macromedia Flash 8.

Removed, restarted, installed, restarted and still no Flash Player. Add/Remove shows it's there. Something else is causing it not to install or install completely. Thanks for the information.

    Macromedia Flash 8.

I'll do the restart. However, the overnight off and morning on would be same as a restart, wouldn't it? At the present time I have uninstalled the Flash Player. Will restart the PC, then install again. Will do a restart immediately. From where can I get the program and install without using OE, which I have?

    Macromedia Flash 8.

Been a while since submitting a Post. I forgot the protocols: XP Media Center 1 GB Ram 3.2 GHz The instructions indicate I will probably get the "Yellow Install Script" thing at the top. I don't, and maybe that's the reason. I'm equivalent to Grammer School as concerns PCs. Shouldn't have said that as a lot of Grammer Students are well versed in PC now. I read the URL you gave. Before I reformatted I think I had version 6. My reason for this is the weather. I live in a very rural area, no cities to speak of within 50 miles. Use the Weather Station Radar from the cities to the West of here. I can tract a storm with the link very well, knowing when to get in a hole or leave! Our weather is very violent this time of year. So without the Flash Control, no Radar tracking.
  23. Recently did a reformat and reinstall on PC. All is well after putting back what programs I wanted except for the Flash Player. From Macromedia's Home Page installed Flash Player 8.x,x. It seems to install. I get the finished Gif. Doesn't work though. I've tried several times, installed over the original, uninstalled and reinstalled, no help. Would appreciate suggestion and help on this.
  24. pwillener - I tried bpm2k's post and got what I was looking for. If had used good judgement and explored your post more I would not have had the trouble I had. Thanks for giving me some rope on this.
